If I’m being honest? Monster high G2’s biggest sin was changing G2 frankies hairstyle from the adorable side part with the lightning bolt headband to just g1 Frankies hairstyle again.

Like it’s kinda emblematic of g2’s biggest issue. It being terrified of going too far from g1s imagery despite said imagery not fitting g2 at all.

The swept back side part and dorky blue headband really fit this being a much softer, cutesier version of Frankie. It’s something only g2 frankie stein could pull off because their style leans cuter and younger! (Despite technically being the oldest Frankie due to lore reasons)

It’s young, nerdy and gives frankie this doe eyed feel! Kinda Disney princessish ngl. Which is exactly what they wanted!

Changing it back to just a copy of g1 Frankies hairstyle kills all of that good visual character work. You get the vibe their face isn’t built for it. Because it literally isn’t. It even changes the way the hair stripes flow in a way that’s less satisfying. They looked better flowing backwards than going straight down.

G2 Frankies outfit alone isn’t enough to set them apart from g1 Frankie so it just ends up making them look like g1 frankie but less.

G2 couldn’t ever fully commit to what it knew it wanted to be. That was its biggest issue.
