Hello, my name is Tsuutsui!! (He/She), himedanshi every day, fujoshi for one pair As you can see, I am a Nurse's office shipper!!! I love nurse's office!!! This food in this shot from the WnK trailer is even wilder than I thought - it's shaped like a tomato and appears to be composed of smaller tomatoes while still being its own thing. I've talked before about how one of the recurring visual themes of this movie is "out of many, one" and this is a prime example. And it also ties into the whole "real or fake" theme, because it's not a real tomato, even though it looks like one!

Also, some of the cherry tomatoes are cut in half, while others are either whole or have the uncut side facing away from us. Because that's also a thing. And of course, there's the movie's obsession with round objects in general.

I think this thing is held together by aspic, which is savory meat gelatin, but given the overall dessert theme, it could well be sweet and the "tomatoes" are also fake. Either way, gelatin is probably what's holding this thing together, as you can see when it gets crushes.

I found a couple of real-life examples of tomato aspic using cherry tomatoes after a quick Internet search. The main difference being that the real dish tends not to be so imitative in form like the one we see here, but I'm sure you could make one if you really wanted to. It's exactly the sort of fancy extravagance that a high-class establishment would serve.

I'm assuming this is Kyouko, because we know she's in this scene and she seems like the one Most Likely To Use Her Hands At A Tea Party, but it looks like the eerily blood-like spatters were already over the dessert tray before she even touches it, so that must come from something else.

Maybe the bear Mami was chomping on? That seems like it might spatter. If the new orange magical girl Selma Therese has a bear theme, that seems like it might be a bad omen for her, especially if she's getting all cozy with Nagisa. Pro tip: don't make the mama bear angry.

I'm also assuming that whoever is grabbing the not-tomato is trying to eat it, but something feels off. Did she try to grab it, assuming it was solid and tangible, only for it to turn to mush, and then she brought in the other hand to try and salvage it? Or is it being crushed out of frustration? If the latter, it's not Kyouko - she would never purposefully waste food and will be pissed about it. And if it is Kyouko here, she'll be annoyed at being "tricked" like this.

"Real" cherry tomatoes in the Kaname family greenhouse in Rebellion (although those turned out to be illusions, too).

Anyway, in case it wasn't abundantly clear, every dessert in this scene and every little detail in this movie is highly symbolic, and I continue to be impressed at just how much information is packed into a single screenshot.
