people who are mad harry named his kid after snape instead of regulas are so funny. What did regulas do? He is a pureblood who thought killing muggles and muggle borns was a good cause but voldemort mistreating his own personal house elf is where he draws the line. His retrieving the horcrux literally just made harry's life more difficult. Thank god harry had the sense to name his kid after people with impact and not some rando failure who only has a fandom cause he's attractive(ish) and young

You're absolutely right. I dont think these people know much about perspective in fiction.

Did Regulus do something great? Sure, yeah.

Is that great deed enough to impact Harry personally enough for him to name his child after him? Nope

The people he named his children after were people who didn't just affect the war, but affected him throughout his life. Dumbledore, Snape, etc are names hes known and or heard of since day one. (The only exception here would be Luna ig, but she had more of an impact than Regulus did). Its not just about the war, it was about Harry and his growth as a person.

whatever opinion you have of severus snape, you can’t deny that the act of killing dumbledore was a completely selfless act. he sacrificed his career and his already shoddy reputation at dumbledore’s request. he killed perhaps the only person who knew his true identity because he trusted in dumbledore’s convictions - without dumbledore, he literally had no one. he stopped draco from becoming a murderer and forever being traumatised by what he’d done to the headmaster he admired, just because he empathised with him. that amount of loyalty is unbelievable. to commit such an act for the end goal at the expense of your own self is such a slytherin trait. while snape was a generally unpleasant man, the acts he committed for the greater good are so meaningful and sacrificial that it’s easy to see why opinions of him are so mixed

Severus Seeking Solace

After a particularly trying day, Severus likes to curl up in bed and seek solace in his Hogwarts acceptance letter. Dreaming of his bright future as a brilliant wizard with many magical friends.

Severus does not have much. So he treasures all of his little trinkets placed on his windowsill. His mother’s old school books (which Severus have read multiple times and inserted a few notes in), two marbles, an old gobstone (which does not work anymore. It was the gobstone that helped Eileen win her final tournament), the Snape’s only family photo (Severus is still unsure whether he will take it to Hogwarts), a tin soldier,  a mug for his pencils, and a rather expensive owl plushie from Lily.
