I have gotten a gym membership on and off for the last 5 years, I have nothing to show for it that stayed (i had become more fit at one point and then I slacked off)... I am struggling so hard to keep and maintain motivation, desire, ambition... How was it for you when you first began your journey? (p.s. I understand that I don't *need* a gym membership to have a fit and healthier lifestyle)

Hey friend - I bet there are a lot of us here that could say the same thing about our gym membership. :/

I am not sure where you are in your journey - but when I started I was barely mobile. 

Walking around the block was literally more than I could handle. Walking outside was my gym for over a year. It started 100 yards at a time until I was walking for 2 hours.

Eventually I moved to cycling. That started the day I decided that in 6 months I was going to ride the Katy Trail from end to end. I documented that adventure here. I am still a little shocked I made it TBH. 

Eventually I moved on to riding my bike across IOWA in 2 seperate attempts at RAGBRAI. 

The last two years, I have been focusing on running. Staring out with several failed attempts at C25k. Eventually I got past C25k, and did a 10k and eventually several half marathons. I am training for my first full right now. 

So my process is pretty simple. 

Find an activity you want to do

Set a goal that scares you a little bit

Do it badly

Do it again, a little less badly

Repeat it until you beat it 

Pick your next challenge

Perhaps going to the gym does not motivate you? It sure doesn’t motivate me - I only go because it helps me accomplish my other bigger goals.

This is some of the most inspiring stuff that I have seen in a very long time! I really love that he says that his process is simple, and it is, but he never said that it was easy. It is so true that the solutions to many (but not all) of our fitness related issues aren’t that complicated, they simply require dedication to work through. I feel so motivated by seeing this story! Congratulations @fatmaninalittlesuit on all of your accomplishments, and thank you for the inspiration this has given me to continue to work towards my own goals!

I- I just can’t get over Zuko and his arc. Everything he did - everything - was out of this insane drive to prove everyone wrong, to prove that he was worth something, and it amazes me that he never realized just how valuable he already was. 

His sister tells him ‘You waste all your time playing with knives. You’re not even good!’ and he masters dual swords.

His sister is a prodigy and he’s told he’ll never catch up. He learns from dragons. He trains the Avatar. He takes her down (with the help of a very skilled waterbender)

He’s left behind by his mother, cast out by his father, hunted by his sister, and Zuko still learns unconditional love. 

His father tells him he’s worthless and unloved, that he was ‘lucky to be born,’ and he becomes a man that the world is proud of. 

Anything his family said to him, he managed to turn around and build on it. He thrived on it, exploded from it, turned all the negativity into a positive path and it’s just… it’s amazing.

There’s just no end to my love for this character. No fucking end. 

Bonus: The weak, banished prince has fangirls for all the ages. Take that, Ozai.
