The Hurl of Great Price' | Barn Canyon, UT | 📸: @jefftheclimber Man, would you look at this thing?! Pure perfection, in my opinion. This rock is simply amazing and contains some of the coolest holds I've ever seen. And to add to that, the movement is also super top notch! So syked to have taken it down in such a short amount of time last night. I can't believe it took me this long to get around to trying this one. 'Sundial' | Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah Thanks to some awesome directions from my friend, @trigbeast, I got to climb this amazing newer boulder problem, put up by @lillaspindel, yesterday in LCC. It sits high up on a hill away from everything, with gorgeous views of the canyon. This one is very atypical for the area in that you do some bigger moves in between some pretty dang good holds. It was rad to climb that kind of style in LCC! It doesn't come often. Most of the time your dealing with tricky little subtleties and loads of micro beta, but not this one! It's very straight forward and more strength dependent than it is technical. 'Bronson Arête' | Little Cottonwood Canyon, UT | 📸: Frame Grab| Edit: @jefftheclimber Finally did it! I’ve been obsessed with sending this thing for the past three weeks and it’s been on my mind for a whole lot longer! Five sessions total I think; one of the longest processes I’ve had. But what was weird is how easy it felt on the send go. When I topped out I was not even close to surprised. Maybe it was because I had done the moves so many times or maybe I expected it too much, who knows and who cares! I did it! And just in time before it rained. Thank goodness I don’t have to stress about doing it before the end of the season anymore. Time to head further up the canyon! 'MaxiPad' | Joe's Valley, UT Another highlight from this weekend was sending the ever so sandbagged 'MaxiPad'. This is one of the best and prettiest blocs I've climbed in Joe's (or anywhere for that matter). It's movement is unique and based on pure power. I barely held the crux and almost fell a few times until I got my foot up. In fact, at some point I just about gave up, but then didn't, thank goodness! 'No Substance' | Joe's Valley, UT | 📸: @rachael_leahcar I am still in shock, and beyond words about this. I guess I just never really thought it would happen, but I just kept giving it #onemoretry and magically, it happened! I put in 5 ½ hours over the course of 4 sessions during the past year and half. Which I guess isn't that much time, but it sure feels like it! Probably cause I was stuck with the same high point ever since my third overall try. Finally pushing past that and sinking my fingers into the pocket and pulling over the lip on Friday was so rewarding! Due to the ground up nature of the climb, I couldn't try these moves in isolation and therefore had never done them. It's crazy to think that I did these moves only once compared to the countless amount of times I had done the previous six moves leading up to them. This has to be one of the most gratifying sends I've ever had. I don't think I've ever sprinted to the very top of a boulder the way I did this one. 'Feck' | Little Cottonwood Canyon, UT | 📸: @jefftheclimber This morning I ventured up to Little Cottonwood with......... And climbed this really awesome slab. Though many regard this thing as difficult for the grade or even impossible, I didn't find it to be that bad. I will say that it did take a while to figure it out since there wasn't any chalk on it when we arrived, nor did I know any beta. It's defiantly a foot climb. No manner of shear strength will get you up this thing. Often times I climb alone, and when I do I carry a TON of foam. I've been trusting @organicclimbing to catch my falls now for the past year and a half. And at this point I can say that I honestly believe they make the best pads on the market! Not to mention how easy they make it for me to strap multiple pads together. 'The Dirty Rail' | Red Roxx, NV Back in December I had the pleasure of climbing this rad line. I say pleasure because it was really fun! Nothing felt super hard to me, just long, gymnastic, and pumpy. I really had to time my rests in order to got just completely pump out. I remember when I sent I felt like the ending was just so desperate. My endurance game is so bad, haha. I’ve recently gained a syke for climbing some longer routes as opposed to boulders. Now, this happens every so often but it never really lasts long. I’m curious to see how committed I stay with it this time. 'Kung-Pao' | Moe's Valley, UT | 📸: Me I was super syked to witness my girl, @rachael_, put down her project (and first V6 on rock) in Moe's Valley yesterday! Two weeks ago she epiced on it hard, putting in two long sessions and falling several times going to the jug at the lip. She could top it out in isolation nearly every time. Doing it from the start seemed to be more a mental problem than anything else. This time she broke through that barrier and sent in just a few goes! ‘Jack of All Trades’ | Red Roxx, NV | 📷: @jefftheclimber Sorry for the lack of content lately. Ever since I got back from Red Rocks, I’ve been battling with healing a pretty heinous feeling finger injury. It’s been 2 ½ weeks now and things seem to be healing pretty well! I’m still not able to climb on it yet though… SOON hopefully! In the mean time I’ll be dreaming about all the blocs I have climbed (like this amazing problem) and all the blocs I wanna climb.
