Well this was a rollercoaster.
Let's just forget the fact that "narcissistic abuse" is absolutely, completely IDENTICAL to the experiences of emotional and psychological abuse, let's forget the fact that NPD is so highly stigmatized and that people with personality disorders are more likely to BE abused, let's forget that armchair diagnosis is something you as a PhD holder should KNOW is a bad idea
Let's all stop calling someone ableist because of their... Ableism.
Because Gods forbid disabled people call out your ableism.
Your PhD does not grant you some kind of special immunity, nor does it make you an arbiter of other peoples brains.
As someone who has gone through what has been repeatedly labelled "narcissistic abuse" only for the ones who abused me to turn out to have anything but narcissism, it is not, and NEVER WILL BE the abuse that we discount or dismiss, because what is happening is psychological and emotional abuse. It is the label and how it is automatically associated with us that we have issue with.
Narcissism is attributed left and right by people who have no idea what they're talking about, not even giving people who suffer from NPD the dignity of separating "narcissism" vs "NPD", but saying that we are better off not living in society, are incapable of love and actively looking for methods to mess with our heads for "revenge". Narcissism has become immediately associated with NPD and as a result you won't find a single person with NPD who has gone to therapy and has not been dehumanized, talked down to or told they are inherently evil by supposed professionals.
It's very easy to simply attribute pop psych labels to people and declare them evil, it makes dealing with them easier. I could easily assert that the way you turn our genuine need to get help and minimize stigma as "playing a victim card" is actually a narcissistic attempt to belittle those you disagree with, but I don't armchair diagnose. That would be silly.

Oh really? I didn't know my DISORDER was unhealthy, really! I thought the way it ruined my life was totally normal...
Please, if you haven't worked with a diverse amount of NPD patients, don't pretend your PhD makes you special. There's a reason the anti-psych movement exists.
