A big feathery wing curled itself behind Heart’s head, patting him once or twice during his little laughing fit.
“Hey, that’s a good fuckin’ living, all things considered. And mares love that in a buck like you; strong, well-versed in swords, and saving the Royal Guards some hassle.” He smiled. It had been too long. “..How’s it been, buddy?”
“...tiring. It’s been... tiring. I’ve...” He sighed, a little; Silver would never mind if he showed a touch of emotion; the moments of weakness he could share with no one else.
“...I’ve been busy. Far too busy.” Ignoring Silver’s compliments entirely spoke volumes.

Heart was lying; he was utterly dying to tell Princess Twilight about the recent shenanigans. Because - he was Heart. Love induced chaos induced shenanigans induced his very being, after all.

Silver clapped his paws. The pricks of this down definitely deserved it, but jeeze, Heart seemed to have a track record of racking up charges yet left unchecked by the guard forces.
“Just because you have a sword doesn’t mean it makes you any more or less guilty.”
“Oh, Silver. I’d like to be able to call the laws of Love magic on my side and say that the sword only responds to me if it was a true matter of love. But - if you’re wondering, the reason I keep getting way with this is that thanks to my continuous and arduous attempts to derail love contracts I save the Royal Guard approximately a half-hundred thousand bits a year. All because my sword tends to amplify my Love magic.”
A chuckle. A laugh. Okay, Heart had lost it and was laughing his horn off. He would probably need someone to calm him down.

You're intelligent, quirky, and I'd say much better at magic than me, despite it being in one field. Divine magic is good, but it's outclassed by unicorn magic any day of the week. I'm proud of you, and you're a good friend."
Heart flushed deeply, there; something Gordon said had cut deep.
“...thank you. I’m certainly not good at love, but I’m... as good as I can be, I guess. Love is hard to control and judge at the best of times.”
He paused, as they spoke about magic.
“I doubt I’m as good as magic - my magic has a very narrow focus. I’ve gotten myself caught into so many dangerous situations because my penchant for playing hero didn’t quite work with the spells I had at my disposal.”
A shrug.
“But you’re a good friend, too. I’m glad I met you, Gordon.”
