“Well, you know,” she told him. “Being ruler and all, I’ll have to preside over the big Festival in the Crystal Empire. Judge some contests, cut some ribbons, eat some pies, probably have a pie smooshed in my face. Things like that. Do you have any plans?” she asked.

Silver clapped his paws. The pricks of this down definitely deserved it, but jeeze, Heart seemed to have a track record of racking up charges yet left unchecked by the guard forces.

“Just because you have a sword doesn’t mean it makes you any more or less guilty.”

“Oh, Silver. I’d like to be able to call the laws of Love magic on my side and say that the sword only responds to me if it was a true matter of love. But - if you’re wondering, the reason I keep getting way with this is that thanks to my continuous and arduous attempts to derail love contracts I save the Royal Guard approximately a half-hundred thousand bits a year. All because my sword tends to amplify my Love magic.”

A chuckle. A laugh. Okay, Heart had lost it and was laughing his horn off. He would probably need someone to calm him down.

Silver found this little schtick she had led the punker into quite fun; and her laughter was simply just a bonus. He had a mind and a few choice words of how to say ‘em - he spoke it and spoke it good. After another fit of laughter, the griffon settled himself down, before shrugging his shoulders.

“Hey, what I can say, Booklover? I don’t censor myself, not even to the high class. Seeing them squirm around is just a reward in of itself.”

“Hey, so. I’m not dead, for those who were worried. I’ve just been.. busy. Spending time with family, making sure my dad’s okay, and working on plucking the guitar. So, otherwise? The norm.”

[Silver to Fernand] "Hey there, Fern. How's things with you so far?"

“I’m fine…”

He did not look fine. In fact he looked dull, barely groomed and with his wings simply drooping. He sipped some more beer and continued to frown, his magic holding a pen that wrote line after lines of a speech that he constantly was crossing out. He’d barely gotten past the first sentence.

That didn’t sound fine. Far from it, from the looks of things. If that wasn’t poor grooming, alcohol fueled writing and constant dour mood? He wouldn’t have assumed something was wrong.

“..You don’t look so good there, buddy. Color me Captain Obvious, but something’s wrong there with ya.”

“Nothing’s wrong” Fernand growled back with all the bite of a slug. “I’m just a little tired. But I’m drinking?” Fernand seemed to only just now realize he was drinking. He gave a hoarse, short little laugh and tossed away the beer carelessly. “Well that was stupid! Good job, Fernand, drink more while you’re tired! Prove them right!” he chastised himself, burying his head in his front legs and sighing loudly.

“I’ll be fine. I always am.”

“Yeah.. I don’t think so.”

Naturally, the griff stepped closer to the tired stallion and continued to talk on. “This isn’t fine. This is ‘fucking shoot me where I sit because I’ve got a problem and I don’t know how to solve it’. Now, that’s not always the specific case, but I don’t think you’re ‘fine.” He almost expected more bile to come out of his mouth, but that was fine. “So, what’s wrong, huh? We barely know each other, but even I hate seeing you like this.”

“We do barely know each other” Fernand echoed with all the bluntness one expected of him, glowering up at Silver for a moment before continuing to rest his face on his forelimbs. “I don’t know. It just comes and goes” he finally caved, waving his head.

“Go away, gryphon, I need to focus. Just leave me alone and I’ll be fine if you really care so much. Just need to muster up my will!”

If there was a word for that sudden sense of being a terrible, terrible friend; the concept wherein you weren’t there for them when they truly needed it, brought unto you as a feeling with one single sentence - Heart Tips didn’t know it. But it was one he sorely needed at that moment.

“…you sorted things out with your parents, then?” Spoken with more than a hint of regret that he hadn’t been there to aid his friend. A rolling list of memories; all the time that Silver had rendered aid unto the hapless unicorn.

Man, I am a bucking crap friend.

°☆.。 twilight was KNOWN to be stubborn . once the mare put her mind to something , rarely ever was it left UNFINISHED , even if it meant succeeding was DETRIMENTAL to her own health . she could handle one more task , she would tell herself , even when her magic grew unsteady . she wasn’t tired . in fact she had stayed up PLENTY longer than just two days , she would say to others still when they noted the dark circles beneath her eyes , or how her body trembled with FATIGUE . twilight sparkle was a MASTER of excuses and - unfortunately - far too practiced in the art of heeding herself LAST . °☆.。

°☆.。 so it was a SURPRISE , even to herself , when her legs finally gave out &. her vision CLOUDED with dark splotches and imagined stars . her fainting spell was BRIEF , however , and sooner than naught , the alicorn found herself supported by a familiar grey griffon. °☆.。

It didn’t take a genius to figure out that the mare known as Twilight Sparkle had been pushing herself to Tartarus and back, all for the sake of ‘just one more task’. When in reality, all it was is just an excuse to exhaust one self further. Silver, while having sparse interactions with this alicorn, had quietly come to notice those dark circles, the shudders of fatigue. It was looking like it was killing her, leaving her on those last legs.

“You’re fucking tired, that’s what came over you.”

There was no beating around the bush. He would be blunt, straight forward with the mare this time.

“Look at yourself, Spark. You’re yawning, your bags have bags, and you’re passing out mid day. You need to get some sleep and take better fuckin’ care of yourself.” Silver snorted.

“She’s a hoofful if I’m perfectly honest but I won’t complain. I’m looking into alternative ways of pulling money in. I will need a way to support her and myself when my funds run out.”

He examined the freshly polished hoof and then looked at the griffon.

“And you, my feathery friend? How is the engaged life treating you? Have you picked a venue for weddings yet or is that too far in the future?”

“How inssspiring,” Almas chuckled. “Maybe I can take a page from you and figure something out soon. I can’t keep draining these nice folks. Much as they love Jocasta and Emeril.” He glanced back at the glass screen door at Jocasta inside playing with the twins.

“Ey, they love you, man. You’re adorable, your kids are adorable, they wanna see you get back up on your hooves.” A smile appeared across his beak, and in a flash, the guitar would shortly be brought up out of it’s case, and began to be tuned around. He wanted a song, he would do it for the shadhavar. One breath in, one breath out. The notes began to rise up from those plucked strings, forming a mellow, yet happy song. One about moving past pain. And it also helped his voice had improved from that toneless grunge, to being able to hold a decent note in his pocket.

“I wish Tracey Chapmare was my friend, Cause she would know exactly what to say.. Beginnings always hide themselves in ends, At some point I will be okay..”

His gaze turned to Almas, smiling while his claws plucked on.

“I got high, when I met you. I got hi-igh, to forget you-ou, I feel pain, I don’t want to! But I have to! Yeah, I have to, If I want to move on, move on, Move on, move on..” He continued playing, singing his little heart out.

“I have to admit, that’s something of a still work in progress. You know how it is, the busy life of a popstar. Not that I’m complaining; I treasure every moment around her. I’ll have to sit down one day and do these plans with her.” Silver felt it best to talk these plans with her and her alone. No need to rush into it all, all of a sudden. “Otherwise?” He’d smile, seeing how much the shadhavar had improved since their first meeting. “It’s just treating me. I’m happy to have gotten my own metaphorical shackles off of my family, and I’m working towards either of two things: Music career or college education..”

“Music, hm?” Almas yawned lazily and trotted over to the long lawn chair that seemed to have been installed just for him. The other, smaller one had always been a tad too short. He coiled onto it and sunned himself. “Which instrument? You seem like a guitar bird to me,” he took a guess.
