The Sahara Chronicles Arc 1 Complete!
It took me 9 years, but finally, we're at the end of an era - the end of one part in the epic saga of the heroes of Sahara.
The Sahara Chronicles is a story that isn't meant to become a trend, but to stay as a secret in your heart, a secret friend who understands you and guides you through the mess that is real life, having written at a time I needed this comfort the most. I hope the same shall be the case with whoever picks up any of the books in the series.
Did you know that The Sahara Chronicles first started? First, there was a short story called "The Young Foreigner". It was part of my BA 2nd year English exam and we had to write a short story based on a prompt they gave us.
Then, a few months later, I wrote a poem called "Journey". It later clicked with me that both stories could be about the same person and so, I eventually merged the two together—"Journey" became the beginning of a new book and "The Young Foreigner" the first part following it.
I then wanted to know what happened to Yor after he cured the farmer's wife – did he take the farm as was probably offered to him? I didn't think he was that kind of lad – he was just a traveller searching for his place in the world.
And that's how I ended up with the novel that we know as The Young Foreigner to-day. I wasn't happy that TYF ended and so, my idea for the ending altered to add the epilogue of an unknown enemy planning to complete what was started in this book. Thus came Book 2 and the rest.
The Sahara Chronicles began with the story of a young alchemist mage. His was supposed to be a tale of triumph, strength, and goodness – all of which I needed at my darkest hour. And since it was the time I was trying to come out of my dark place, the story came to me easily and - what was supposed to have been a collection of short stories with Yor Castel as the main character became a journey - which eventually turned into a saga, when I didn't want to abandon the characters who gave me hope it live once more. It was majorly because of my blogging and my stories that I survived through the trauma of bullying during high school all through college. I had been bullied in high school; by the time I entered senior year, the bullies were no longer there to trouble me - but the trauma remained. I would keep looking behind my shoulder; and every time a boy spoke to me, I'd stiffen up and respond with a rigid rone of voice.
Thanks to Yor and his friends, I finally healed from ths trauma and was able to live a normal life.
Arc 1 is now complete and ready to binge:
Stay tuned for Book 3.5: Beyond The Sahara Chronicles: Tales of the Realm.
Here's a small update about this anthology:
This is the cover. Here is the blurb:
"Beyond The Sahara Chronicles: Tales of the Realm" is a collection of side stories and deleted scenes that did not fit into the main narrative of the series - here altogether in one book.
The blurb might expand or change a little, but this is the essence of the book. I once promised this a few years ago and, now that Arc 1 of the series is complete, it is the best time to release this anthology.
