“That’s a good idea!” She looked down to the Axew, who seemed to be enjoying himself. She smiled, walking slowly towards the middle of the river, coaxing Charlie to follow her. “Come on, Charlie! It’ll be fine.”

Charlie gave her a look of worry as she went out to the middle of the water. He looked towards the Serperior, who seemed to be enjoying himself while resting in the water. If only Iris would just let him do that. Slowly, he began to tiptoe towards Iris, being careful to not fall over.

Mei giggled at how cute the Axew was being when the water got deeper. “It’s okay! You should hold onto Iris, if you’re scared,” she said. “Try kicking your feet as you hold onto her.”

Serperior glided a bit towards Charlie, turning its belly up, resting himself still. It nudged the Axew a bit, letting him know it was there for him.

Charlie gave a nod to the Serperior, feeling reassured about his safetly. He immediately grabbed a hold of Iris' hand tightly, without thinking of letting go. Slowly, he started to kick his legs up and down, making little splashes of water. 

"That's good, Charlie." Iris praised the little Axew, grabbing onto both of his hands. "Just keep on doing this and blow some bubbles. The water will be less scary that way." She wasn't exactly sure why it wouldn't be so frightening, but that's how she was taught to swim. It worked for her.

Charlie stood in the shallow end of the river, watching as Mei splashed Iris. Iris laughed loudly as she was being splashed, and attempted to get Mei back. “Take this!” She shouted, cupping her hands full of water and splashing the other girl.

Charlie found it amusing, but his tiny limbs could only get so much water on her. His attempts at splashing only ended up with small amounts of water on her leg, but he still looked as though he was having fun, just as Mei said.

Iris chuckled at her Axew, cupping her hands full of water and gently pouring it on top of his head. Charlie simply shook the water off of his head and continued to keep splashing Iris a little harder in retaliation.

“Ah, perfect!!” Mei giggled as Charlie was playing along. She started splashing her Serperior, but he didn’t budge and rested in the water. “Ah, you boring old coot!”

Serperior looked at Mei and made a groaning noise. It sipped a bit of water and then sprayed it at Mei. Mei laughed and started splashing Serperior some more, who eventually just rested in the pool of water.

“Let’s slowly go a bit into the deeper area, and just have Charlie get used to just playing in the water for now,” Mei said to Iris as she splashed the Axew a bit.

Charlie looked up at Mei with a happy expression, giving a friendly wave to the other trainer. He didn’t seem bothered at all by the Serperior, despite the wave it created. 

Iris greeted the Serperior with a friendly pat on the head, smiling. “You really want to help us out?” She asked, a bit surprised at the kind gesture. “That would be wonderful! Thank you so much!”

Iris waded over to a more shallow part of the water, so that it only reached her skins. She carefully placed the Axew in the water, allowing him to sit in it to get used to the temperature.

“Don’t worry. It’s just like taking a bath, but outdoors.” She smiled at him, hoping to calm his fears.

Mei kneeled down and gently tapped the water with her fingers. “You should splash around in it to get used to it!” she said cheerfully. “Like what Iris said, think of it like a bath…so you should have fun!”

Mei turned to her Serperior and splashed water at her Pokemon. Her Serperior seemed to not care, but it did not want to play in case he accidentally made another tidal wave so close to the Axew. “Seppy is so boring,” Mei grumbled. “Charlie, we should play with each other and splash Iris!”

“You should splash her…like this~” Mei cupped some water into her hand and flung it towards Iris, only hitting her legs. It was nothing big, but it was a start. “Swimming is all about fun!”

Mei looked at the Axew and squealed a bit. “Ohhh, he’s so cute!” she exclaimed. “Hello there, Charlie~”

Mei rubbed her arm and pointed at her Serperior. “The tidal wave was made by Seppy, he’s my Serperior!” she said proudly. “I didn’t expect anyone to be here, either, but the more, the merrier!”

She called out to her Serperior who glided towards her. “Seppy, this is Charlie the Axew! And the lovely Iris!” she said as she leaned on her Serperior. “Charlie’s a bit scared of water, so maybe we can help!”

Swimming Lessons

The river on Route 6 was a great place to go for a swim. And on a hot day like today, who could say no to a dip in the cool refreshing water.

Well, Drayden could, but he almost never had time for fun stuff like that. As much as Iris wanted him to join her, she knew that he had to do his job. When was the last time he even took a vacation? Probably never. 

But that didn’t stop Iris from going on her own adventure to the river. Today was a perfect day to go for a swim. The water was not too cold, nor too hot. The sun kept hiding itself behind the clouds, so it wasn’t too bright. Dressed in a cute swimsuit, Iris jumped into the water without holding back. Her Axew stayed at the river’s edge, dipping his little hands into the water, attempting his version of fishing, which never really worked out so well. It wasn’t long before he slipped and fell into the river headfirst. Luckily, Iris was able to catch him before he started to drown.

“Gosh, Charlie.” Iris swam over to the edge with him in her arms. “Isn’t it about time you learned how to swim?” She smiled down at the Axew before receiving a negative response. “Everyone else has learned how to swim. You have to learn sometime.” 

The Axew merely blinked at her, crossing his arms and turning his head away. “Don’t give me that attitude.” She frowned at him. “I’ll teach you how. It’ll be really fun. I promise.”

“Let’s go!”

Mei splashed into the water happily. Her Serperior slowly slid into the water and rested in the corner. “Ohhh, come on!” Mei exclaimed as she started splashing water at her Pokemon. “Let’s play!!”

Serperior turned its head away and smirked. The water felt cool on him and he had no reason to entertain its trainer. Mei laughed as her Pokemon was acting quite superior towards her. “I bet you can’t make a big enough wave to wash me off!”

Serperior turned his head back at Mei and whipped his tail at the water. It made a huge wave that Mei flew back and accidentally bumped into Iris. “Oh, hello there!” Mei exclaimed happily. “I’m sorry about that~”

Mei turned back at Serperior and waved her fist. She looked back at Iris and smiled gleefully. “Nice to meet you! I’m Mei~”

"Uwaa!" Iris yelped, taken by surprise of the wave that hit her, along with the trainer that bumped into her. She fell back into the water and was careful to not drop her Axew, but he had already made a safe haven on the top of her head.

"Oh, don't worry about that." She smiled, getting back up to her feet. She plucked Axew off of her head, holding him in her arms. "I'm sure you didn't scare him too bad. He's a big fraidy Purrloin when it comes to swimming." 

The Axew gave Iris a slight glare, crossing his tiny arms sternly. This only caused Iris to giggle more. "Well, it's true!"

"It's nice to meet you too, Mei." She waved back to her. "My name's Iris, and this is Charlie." She motioned to her stubborn little Axew. "I didn't think anyone else would be out here."

Swimming Lessons [Open RP]

The river on Route 6 was a great place to go for a swim. And on a hot day like today, who could say no to a dip in the cool refreshing water.

Well, Drayden could, but he almost never had time for fun stuff like that. As much as Iris wanted him to join her, she knew that he had to do his job. When was the last time he even took a vacation? Probably never.

Archer gave the young girl a short glance, although he had an idea of what she looked like from just her voice. Small, probably, and energetic, definitely. Both of these assumptions turned out to be correct.

“Hello,” he replied, not entirely sure why such a girl would want to speak to him.

"Would you like to buy some cookies for my Dragon Scout troop?" Iris smiled at the older man, holding up a couple boxes of Dragon Scout cookies, namely Thin Mints and Samoas. "I'm only several boxes away from my goal and I want to sell as many as I can."

Yup, he sure is! I hope he can handle it by himself. He’s got a lot of work to do as the mayor too.

I still use Dragon types, but I decided to get some new Pokemon on my team to cover different types. I recently got a Lapras all the way from Johto!

A Lapras is a really cool ice type Pokemon and it's said that it can be used as a ferry to take others over the water. It's super rare though! But I don't think it can fly...

“Yup. Gosh, that’s been like a couple of years. I’m doing just fine. I suppose you haven’t heard the latest news though, have you?”

“I should come by Castelia to visit you soon. Have you painted anything new recently?”

“News about you being the Champion itself? Of course I’ve heard about that! How could I miss news like that!” If those weren’t the news she was referring though… Had he missed something bigger than that? “I’m really happy for you, Champion Iris.” He flashed a sunshine beaming smile to the younger girl.

“You should indeed! Even though there aren’t that many new things in the Gallery, I always come up something every now and then. A few works you probably haven’t seen. But remember your duties as the Champion first. Those are quite important, huh?”

Iris clapped her hands together in delight. "So you have heard! Isn't it exciting?" She grinned with excitement as he called her by her official title, but a faint blush was evident on her cheeks. She still wasn't used to it, but it still brought her a lot of happiness. 

"Oh don't worry!" She looked up at him. "If something were to come up, I could always fly back over there in a jiffy. No problem!"

I'm having so much fun at the beach right now!

Drayden took me to a beach house with his family for a few days and I went so far out into the water, that he got really worried.

But I'm a really good swimmer, so I was totally fine!

Oh, and I found a Krabby at the beach too! He's really cute and likes to follow me around.
