“Raphael!” She calls while poking around the lair, clutching a wrapped box with a smile on her face. She was very happy with herself for having found this while out with April shopping and couldn’t wait to see the look on the eldest of her grandsons face when he saw what was inside.“Raphael, I have something to give you!”

From the first call of his name the large snapping turtle looked up away from his phone, simply sitting on the half pipe phone in hand as he was busy scrolling through the many apps he played around with on it. But the moment he heard his gram gram’s voice. He lowered it spotting her wide grin over her face. He couldn’t help but return the smile back her way.

“Hey Gram gram” course when she mentioned having something for him he set his phone off to the side and was quick to stand on his feet. “A gift for me?” he said excited pausing a second to move to sit on his knees so he could better look at her unable to hide the excitement over his face right now. “Soo what is it?!” He was trying to be respectful but he kept eyeing the box in her hands already making over  am million guess in his mind of what it could be,

She rushed over to him, beaming like a child on a holiday morning. “Yes yes! I found such a- oop!” She covers her mouth with one hand, giggling. “It is a surprise! Here!” She hands him the box, shifting back and forth on her feet as the joy of being able to give a gift to one of her family seemed to be more than could be contained in her frame.

Truthfully, it was an adorable set of winter gear that had reminded her so vibrantly of him that she couldn’t help but want to get it for him: A hat and scarf with a matchign set of mittens in a bright red with little bears embroidered along the ends of each item.  And she’d gotten a little brown bear to put the scarf and hat on, the mittens tucked in the bear’s arms to tie it all together.

“Are you alright?” She asks anxiously, hand cupping his face as she looked him over. Whatever had happened out on the surface had brought Leo home unconscious, in his brother’s arms. She’d shooed Splinter off to focus on cleaning him up herself while the other turtles explained what happened to their father. “You worried us, whatever did you do?”

Though Leo’s eyes managed to stay more or less focused in the right direction, it took a few seconds for the questions to sink in. When they did, he put on one of his best, disarming smiles, and closed his eyes against the bright lights that were shining somewhere above them.

“Heeeey, Gram-Gram! I’m fiiiine, I’m fine!” He lied. His body felt heavy and distant, and his head was pounding, like the last time he’d had the flu. He remembered leaving for patrol with his brothers, and…something about the Foot Clan? Maybe? Had they gotten ambushed in that alley on 43rd street?

No, wait, that had been last week. This week, they’d gone the other way, and had stopped at Marvon and Forham to watch some crazy lady running through traffic. Raph had wanted to follow her, and make sure she was okay, and then things got a little…fuzzy.

“I…might have fallen off a roof?” Leo pushed his smile wider, though it came across as more of a grimace than anything happy. “But I landed on a fire escape, I think,” Headfirst. “So it’s fine!”

She sighs through her nose, shaking her head and chuckling at how delirious he seemed to be. She reaches for the ice pack wrapped in a towel Raphael had left on the bedside table, putting it to the obvious and probably still tender bruise on his head. She was fairly certain he had a concussion, Donatello had mentioned something along the lines of it earlier.

“Off a roof?!” Her shoulders jumped as her eyes widened. Her endeavors above ground had been fairly few, but she was well aware of how high even the shortest building stood in the modern day, the concrete and pavement offering no cushion like dirt and grass from falling from a tree back in her day.

“That is not any better! You could have been hurt far worse!” She scolds him with a very disappointed frown. “You must be more careful up there! It does no one any good when you are hurt like this, what are your brothers to do if they need you but you’re here injured?” She shakes her head, taking a deep breath. “What happened? Were you pushed or was this,” She narrows her eyes at him, an accusing look in her eye. “One of your “showing off” stunts?”

She chuckles, clasping her hands behind her back. She’d been curious what had this “Ryou” so distracted.

Of course, she’d been distracted by him as well. He was familiar looking, but the centuries made her past blurry at times, so she simply chalked it up to how familiar he was among her family members.

“Troubling thoughts?” She reaches for the two cups of tea she’d brought over in the first place, holding one out to him as she moved a cushion with her knee from the couch to the ground to sit on. “I’m quite a good listener if you would like to talk about it.”

“gram-gram!” he’s running up to her & throwing his arms around her neck in a tight hug. could you blame him? he missed her, and he was just now recovering enough from his time with the kraang to be able to move around & physically feel like his old self again.

“i’ve missed you!”

Her surprise at hearing Leo's voice is knocked out of her along with her breath as she's tackled by the striped turtle, immediately wrapping her arms around his middle to keep them both from going down.

Sure he's in rough shape after everything but that definitely didn't stop him or his brothers from being a force of nature, especially when looking for affection.

“Leonardo!” she say after getting her footing set. “I thought you were supposed to be resting!” She doesn’t let him go despite her words, patting his back and sighing. “I’ve missed you as well. I’m glad you’re doing better.”
