Mmm?
What are you doing?
My fault. I hurt myself. Took a little too long to heal. But Iām alive. So drop it.Ā
What do you mean you hurt yourself? What did you do?
Moving In [Daoji|Derek]
The young boy was running through the open fields of his rural, mainland China homeātimes only his unconscious remembered. A wide smile adorned his innocent features, a blissful laugh escaping him and a manāwho the boy was pretty sure was his fatherāswooped him up and sat him upon his broad shoulders. He felt like he was flying⦠like he was a mighty dragon.
ā¦
Dr. Alexei stood over the subject, looking up at the camera that recorded the sessions. He had just finished treating the fiend with electroconvulsive therapy, electrically inducing seizures that were meant to help with his urges. The young man had just passed out after finishing a violent convulsion. āViolet,ā the doctor called for the nurse. āHave the guards take Mr. Yim here to Building A, cell 34,ā he ordered and watched as the nurse exited the room.
Looking back to the unconscious subject, Dr. Benain chuckled lowly. āMr. Hale has been alone far too long,ā the scientist mused. The guards entered the room, and undid the prisonerās bounds. Picking him up, they dragged him towards his newly appointed cell.
"Hey, she-bitch," the block guard growled as he opened cell 34A. Two guards stood behind in the corridor, a limp body hanging between the two. "You got yourself a new pimp daddy," he explained with a laugh. The guards tossed the prisoner on the empty bed and exited after silently studying the werewolf in the cell. "Have fun."
ā¦
Daoji awoke in a start, sitting up a bit too fast for his own good. His head spun, making him groan as he squeezed his eyes shut. Where was he? What was that smell? Werewolf again? No more werewolf⦠Opening his eyes again, Daoji Yim realized he wasnāt in his usual cage. Previously restricted to the scientific department, his current location seemed unsettling nice.
Feeling a gaze upon him, he turned to face the only other being in the cell. āFriend or foe?ā He asked bluntly, although his voice was rather neutral.
When Derek opened his eyes, his surroundings were unknown to him, green eyes wondering around though not recognizing anything. He was lying in grass, stone walls standing tall in every direction, no scents nor sounds reaching him. After a few minutes of simply sitting on the grass, Derek decided to explore, standing up as a path appeared in front of him, the walls slowly moving apart to make way for the wolf. He followed every twist and turn the path took, wondering where exactly the narrow hallways were taking him, suddenly finding himself inside the loft.
He spun around, confusion making his pulse rise, about to step towards the entrance door when someone called out his name behind him. Derek turned to see Cora and Allison on the ground, blood dripping from their mouths, Elite Force guards around them holding batons, one raising theirs to hit the girls again. The male shifted instantly, charging at the soldiers in an attempt to help his sister and girlfriend, forced to his knees when a shock of electricity ran from the top of his spine to his legs, someone grabbing his hair and pulling his head up. Standing over Derek was Gerard, a smirk across his lips, walking around to face him, a chuckle echoing through the loft.
āYou canāt do this, Derek,ā the man told him in a taunting tone. āYou wonāt save them, you wonāt defeat me, and you wonāt escape.ā Pain took a hold of Derekās stomach, blood surfacing to his mouth, looking down to see a hunting knife stabbed into his abdomen. Gerard gripped the knife tighter and twisted it, making the wolf cry out.
. . .
Derek woke up with a start to the sound of a lock being opened, hearing the block guard words and glaring at him, deciding this time to stay quiet as he was more interested with who exactly was being brought in. Once they were alone, the wolf sat on his bed and watched the other inmate, getting no sign to attempt recognizing who or what the other was. Derek stayed watching him in silence until the other abruptly awoke, their eyes meeting when the stranger looked at the wolf.
āWe are both inside the cell,ā Derek reminded him. āI believe that at least makes us allies.ā He moved to sit on the edge of the bed, watching the other carefully. āWhatās your name?ā
I know, Iām sorryā¦itās justā¦is this place, sometimes I just canāt help to think like that.
--It's going to be okay, Lydia, trust me. We will get out of here.
How do you know that? I have a bad feeling about everything and we need to see the negative side too, Derek.
Because I do.Ā The negative side isn't our focus--I'mĀ notĀ leaving without you, Lydia.
Again means that Iāve already passed out today. I thought that was obvious.Ā
What happened, Isaac?
Fine, I understand.
I know, okay? But sometimes is really hard for me, Iā¦I miss my mom and I know that our goal is getting out of here but sometimes is difficult to think positive and if I canāt get out with all of you? If something goes wrong?
--Lydia, we won't leave you. No matter what happens, we won't leave anyone behind. Cora is organizing this and I know how clinical she is--she will get you out of here.
Some samples we took from one of the werewolves⦠we were able to extract a gene that may be able to be manipulated to change the overall make-up of the body.Ā
⦠Mr Hale⦠Derek. Iāve read your file, and⦠I understand your concerns. I know⦠Being born this way can make you unsure about all this⦠That if your family were the same, it can seem like the norm⦠Most of my most resilient patients have been born this way, or have been this way for most of their lives. But⦠this cure is for the better. No urges to harm people, no physical manipulations, no⦠needing to hide anything, or people being afraid of you. Itās all to help you, and not anything else. At least, thatās my job - to help you.
--Supernaturlas...share a gene? What would it do? Change our genes or erase them?
No, you don't understand at all. I'm not used to a sickness and I'm not coping with a mental disorder--I am a werewolf. My family taught me control and that's the only thing I need. You want to help us? Stop with the experiments, get us out of here, and don't make this drug.
āAll great things must first wear terrifying and monstrous masks, in order to inscribe themselves on the hearts of humanity.ā Ā āĀ Friedrich Nietzsche
Yes but he was a monster, Derek, you didnāt see him, was horrible.
I know and Iām trying but Iām sick of everything, I donāt want to be crazy again and I donāt want to hear all of this, you know how many people died here? A lot.
I'm not excusing his actions--all I'm saying it's not to use that word. They use it enough against us, we don't need to start throwing it at each other.
I know, trust me. I understand is overwhelming because your abilities can't be alleviated but you need to focus on getting out of here. That's our goal--everything else is an obstacle we'll overcome.
Not reallyā¦just a few weeks. Iāve been trying to stay in my room most of the time.Ā
What about you? If you donāt mind me asking, of courseā¦
Good. Staying out of the guards' ways will benefit you.
I was one of the firsts they brought here.
Morrell wouldnāt hurt me. She has no reason to.
⦠I told her I wished she was still dead. I donāt mean that.
She hasn't exactly been very trustworthy in the past.
...Why did you say it then?
I feel like Iām about to pass out.Ā
Again.Ā
What do you mean again?
She isnāt my therapist, and she canāt change him without being obvious.
⦠I was really horrible.
--Be careful, okay? Pretending to comply it's just as dangerous as fighting these days.
You wouldn't have been without good reason.
Iāve spoke to the other doctors about the mountain ash pills after Mr. Dunbar expressed a concern with them - they tell me theyāre necessary, but Iāve never recommended slipping them into peopleās food. Though I would like it if you took them. Theyāll help suppress the disease until a more permanent cure becomes apparent. Which, Iām happy to say, weāre making some progress on.
Any concerns with anything?
It's poison, used to make us weak and docile as your staff does with us as they wish. --What do you mean progress on a cure?
Look, Doctor Verma, I know you think you are helping, that this somehow is right. But trust me, it isn't--I'm not sick and whatever you think is a cure, it's being made to hurt us not help us.
I spoke to Marin - she said if I can show Iām pretending to cooperate, sheād arrange it.
⦠I screwed up, Derek. It doesnāt matter.
Can't she help you pretend? Just write on your files that you are behaving?
You haven't. No matter what happened, I know you--I know you didn't.
Itās just a precaution⦠Just in case some people react badly to the treatment. Some, like you, are resisting it, but not all are calm about it.Ā [moves over and removes the collar]Ā
Now, Mr. Hale, how do you feel really? Are you on any medication?
Yeah-- reacting violently to force isn't exactlyĀ normal.
Fine by your definition. The mountain ash pills you people think we don't notice being slipped into our food.
