"And what was written on your cup? " Satoru demanded, crossing his arms.
"Nothing too much, Toru, just ‘have a good day, pretty’ with an exclamation… And some hearts." You added as you sweated comically.
"Hearts? Hearts? And what, the barista was a boy?" He glared at you with that adorably annoyed pout on his face.
"A man, yes…"
Satoru pretended he didn’t hear you as he went on, "So, you went in to get our drinks, flirted with the barista, and came back with hearts on your drink?"
"That doesn’t even make sense!" He complained, frowning.
"I didn’t flirt with him, I only wished him a good day." You rolled your eyes.
"So now you’re wishing other people a good day?" He scoffed, as he leaned in, scrutinizing you.
You quickly shook your head, "No sir. I should’ve just said nothing. "
"Hah!? "
"Now I wish he has a bad day... " You mumbled, as Satoru moved away, muttering something about ‘betrayal of trust’ and ‘after all this time’ and ‘I thought we had something’; though he did continue scowling at you.
After a moment of silence, which was only cut by you shuffling awkwardly, you said, "Maybe he does that to everyone."
He sighed exasperatedly, "[Name], I love you. I really do. But which dumbass in his right mind, a barista at that, would do that to everyone?"
"Why don’t you just go check it out?" You blurted out defiantly.
"Maybe I will!" He retaliated.
"Be my guest." You stuck your tongue out.
"Fine!"
"Fine…"
Satoru stomped away.
He returned a few minutes later, a drink in his hand (*insert drink name*, you guessed) and a small smile on his face.
Aha! You thought triumphantly. So, he wrote something on his cup too.
Wait, does that mean he flirted with him-!
The car door shut with a slam as Satoru filled the seat beside you with his presence.
"So?" You asked, raising a brow.
He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. As much as didn’t want to give you the satisfaction of being right, he couldn’t.
The black-haired man had given him a soft smile as he handed him his cup. The memory made him smile as a weird kind of warmth spread through him. The type of warmth you feel when, say, a kid randomly compliments you or an old lady calls you a ‘dearie’ just because you helped her with something.
Of course, he didn’t tell you that, but the look on his face spoke enough for him.
You snatched his cup, careful enough to not spill any coffee on him. Or yourself, for that matter.
Peering over your shoulder, he saw how you traced the words written.
You ask again, "So… What is this, Satoru?"
"He wrote, ‘have a day as beautiful as your eyes, gorgeous’… With an exclamation." He looked away.
"And?"
"And some hearts… And he underlined gorgeous."
"…"
"And I think mine has more hearts than yours…" He smiled sheepishly. Not exactly the time to boast that the guy who was flirting with you had also done the same to him and done it better. Even though it wasn’t exactly flirting.
Now it was your turn to glare.
"Oh, is it so, now? And?"
He bit the inside of his cheek so that he doesn’t smile this time as he replied, "And I think you were right… Maybe he does that to everyone."
You shot daggers at him through your eyes, as you opened the door.
"I’m sitting behind," you announced, as you watched Satoru sulk though cautiously keeping his mouth shut. Wise move.
Obviously, it wasn’t as though all this exactly mattered. By the time the two of reached home, both of you had forgotten exactly what you were supposed to be angry about.
It was quite evident in the way he had carried you all the way up to your shared room in a fireman’s lift and you had pulled him beside you on the bed just so the two of you could cuddle and laze around.
