one thing I believe should be more heavily influenced in the roleplay community ( that really isn’t respected ) is the RIGHT OF REFUSAL. not everyone has to say yes to a roleplay, even if you delivered sugar-coated candied comments abt their portrayal / characterization / etc. if you give those things, it should be from your HEART, and not because you are attempting to ENTICE them into writing with you.

with refusal comes MAJOR ANXIETY – most writers don’t feel comfortable saying that they don’t want to write with someone, and it is because they want to avoid hurting their feelings. believe it or not, there are KIND ways of telling someone you don’t have an interest in writing with them – and those ways should be respected. do not make someone FEEL BAD for not wanting to write with you; and do not FORCE them to tell you their reasoning. as long as they are kind, you should respect their decision and not be rude towards them.

i posted these on dis.cord but i’ll post them here too since they apply to my canon.

please don't imagine the younger couffaines and luka trying to play dad for juleka because after their dad left, their mom was so heartbroken and semi-ignored them for a time and luka tried being the man of the house and taking care of everyone hence why he appears so emotionally strong

dont imagine luka hugging his mom, and making meals and getting his and his sister's school lunches together and giving juleka a smile because he can't cry over this otherwise she will too, so he tries to be strong for both of them

don't think about luka learning to paint nails and doing juleka's hair and taking on a more feminine side because their mom shut herself down after her husband or s/o left. don't think about him doing his own mom's hair and braiding it so it's easier to deal with and out of her hair and always looking tired because this young boy wasn't prepared to take care of himself let alone two other people

imagine it being luka's idea to dye their hair for something to do to make them happy, it reminds them of happier times and their mom didn't object --- and that's what made her turn and why she's now so boisterous and out there

anarka being over the top because hell if she's going to let some man get in the way of her happiness, she has her kids and they've been so strong for her and now it's her turn to return the favor

luka working one or two jobs to support the family now that their dad is gone
