I'm an adjunct prof with a phd in cultural studies, and my area of expertise is television and film. Back in 2017, I started working on a project called “serial deformations” that uses image processing tools to de-form tv texts as a critical-creative practice. I hadn’t done anything with the project for years, but my absolute infatuation with Heated Rivalry rekindled the creative fire. I started playing around with a few of my favourite shots, and plan to do a lot more. Let me know if there's something you'd like to see deformed in this style!
There is no ai involved in my process. I fucking hate ai with every fibre of my being. Right now, I'm using première to create image sequences of each shot, then processing them in various ways using a program called starstax. I have a few other tricks up my sleeve coming soon.
