âYou caught me at a bad time.â Her response didnât show that she was coping after the ordeal but it made her angry that the other had seen her in that STATE. âIâm doing fine but you canât expect everything to be perfect with me. Iâd be better if you quit looking at me like that.â The small blonde pointed at his face. Alex didnât want to be reminded of it, yet along be a reminder to everyone else of what she looked like at that moment. The woman knew that she was being harsh and she show have accepted the harmless invitation but she felt the need to protect herself from everyone.
"I didn't realize there was ever a bad time for coffee," Heath quipped, a poorly executed attempt at a joke, knowing better than to try and get the blonde to laugh. Despite everything he'd done, he understood why she reacted in the way she did, no one liked to be seen as a case or the damsel in distress, but the man couldn't help himself. His life, things he'd witnessed, things he'd done and shamefully so led him to being a man filled with excess amounts of worry and concern for the people in his life, including those that would rather he vanish from theirs. "I apologize, I'm just not exactly sure how you'd like me to look at or talk to you, it's only natural for me to be concerned, I didn't think that was a bad thing." There was a lack of strength to his tone, swallowing as he was unsure how the other would react to what he was saying.
