“Ooh, impressive. Is that gelatin or liquid latex?” she asked, pointing to a particularly gory, lifelike wound.

Oliver couldn’t lie, he had no idea why he had been hired. He had no experience in the field. All he had was a good amount of bullshit and a degree in something completely different. He had never worked as a sound tech before or any type of tech that wasn’t in a lab. Becca had gotten the job here first and there had been a moment when he realized he’d have to figure something out too. He had done a little bit research before applying. Which lead him to sitting quickly reading over a book about being a sound tech. It was the best he could get other than asking the other techs for help. Glancing up, the sun in his eyes blurring who it was,“Can I help you?”

“Yeah, uh, have you seen my toolkit? It’s big and black and has a shiny duct tape handle on it and the words GREASE LIGHTNING on the side.” Heather figured this was someone new, as she had never seen them before.

Chris was feeling manic, which was never a good thing; episodes of such high mood always led to his wallet being emptied. Kimber was too young to understand what was going on - all she knew was that her brother was letting her buy whatever toys and clothes she wanted. After hitting quite a few stores that afternoon, the two of them went into a little cafe and sat down for coffee - Chris with a pumpkin spice latte and the little girl with a green tea frappuccino - with the bags pooled around their feet under the table. After a few moments he couldn’t help but notice someone staring at them from the next table over and he looked over, eyes narrowed a bit. “What?”

Heather too noticed the stray pair of eyes that seemed to be drifting over to their table quite frequently, but she decided not to pay the guy too much mind. He didn’t profile as a stalker or serial killer immediately to her mind, so no danger there. Just some nosy guy. 

“Don’t mind it,” she shrugged and said under her breath to Chris, taking a bite out of her donut. “So anyway, I was saying, I really don’t know how you afford all that makeup. I bought one foundation today and it’s like, half my payday gone.” She too had her own shopping bags from the trip pooled at her feet, though a paltry two and a half, compared to theirs (the half a bag had a seasonal scented candle from Bath and Bodyworks — her weakness).
