Ballet History:
[4/4] Contemporary Ballets
As plotless ballets gained momentum with Balanchine, American choreographers grew to fame as they incorporated modern dance moves into ballets including turning-in and floor work. These works focused on the sheer athleticism of the dancer’s body and incorporated modern music into a realm usually dominated by classical. Influential choreographers include Twyla Tharp, Wayne McGregor and William Forsythe.
