US HEEEEY

Happy Thursday everyone,

As usual, we haven’t updated this in an age. We’ve been off on more travels but we’re back now and armed with lots of lovely stories for you all!

We’ve had an exciting few weeks.  We released our album ‘Kingdom’ in the US on April 8th which was incredible.  We spent a week in New York and a week in LA doing promo and playing some scaled back gigs….. and tasting lots of delicious cupcakes. (had to be done)

It was pretty surreal for myself and Louise as we got to tick off two of the things  on our list of ‘things we‘ve wanted to do since we were kids’. One of these was playing on VH1 Big morning buzz in the TRL studio overlooking times square. We grew up watching MTV and TRL so this was huge for us. We also met the lovely Nick Lachay who was presenting the show. #NEWLYWEDS

Surreal moment number 2 was attending the MTV movie awards in LA.  :O :O :O   Again, we grew up watching all of the MTV awards shows as kids. ( we didn’t JUST watch MTV growing up…. We also watched The Simpsons, Sabrina, Survivor and Ground Force) We spent most of the night with our jaws on the floor.

SO… to sum all of that up, our album KINGDOM is now out in the US and we’re very excited about it!!

Hello friends,

It’s been a while since we’ve updated you on all things Heathers! As you can probably tell from our recent picture posts, we’ve been pretttttty busy!

We have spent the beginnings of 2014 working on album number 3 which we’re VERY excited about.  There’s a long way to go yet, but we’re having lots of fun working on new material.

We have just returned home from an around the world trip (literally) which was incredible. We spent a week in beautiful Penang, Malaysia playing gigs, chilling in the sunshine, eating delish food and meeting lovely people. We cannot wait to return. We then had 6 flights, went back in time and  had 35 hours in total of traveling to Austin, Texas for SXSW where we had a jam packed week of gigs, showcases and interviews. Keep an eye out over the coming weeks for videos and photos of some our performances. We continued on to St Petersburg, Florida for two short days and then finished off our trip in New York city.

Its great to be home and see family and friends (and our cat), but not for long.We’ll be returning to the US in two weeks time for the release of our album KINGDOM on April 8th. WOOOOOH!

Happy New Yearrrrrrrrrr!

Hello from Heathers land and Happy 2014 to you all,

I feel like someone’s pressed the fast forward button on 2013. How is it over already?

It’s been a busy and brilliant year and we’d like to thank you all for your support and love!

With all of our crazy traveling and living out of suitcases this year, including some great times all over the US, Canada and around Europe, it was so nice to get home to play some Irish headliners at the end of November. Our shows in Cork and at The Academy, Dublin were both incredible. For anyone who couldn’t make it, we’re going to be playing another home-town show in The Button Factory Dublin on January 11th for First Fortnight Festival. It will be a full band show and lots of fun!!!

We also enjoyed a really nice little Christmas break ( Home Alone was on repeat ) and we’re all geared up for a big year in 2014.

We’re going to be releasing our album ‘Kingdom’ in the US on April 8th AND we’ve also begun writing for album numero 3!!!!!!!!! We’re heading to Malaysia in March for our first tour dates in that region, and then over to Austin, Texas for South by South West. We are really excited about that!!

Simple Things

So, earlier this year we were contacted by a guy called Jim Breen. He had heard our song Forget Me Knots, fallen in love with it, and wanted it to be part of a project he was working on . We met with him in Dublin one day and he really inspired us by what he had to say. He was organising a massive cycle around Ireland  to raise awareness of mental health issues and the supports available. The campaign was called Cycle Against Suicide. He felt that our song was the perfect anthem for it and we didn't have to think twice. We were very proud to be involved. And so for 2 weeks in May, thousands of people cycled all over the country in support of the campaign, and it really succeeded in getting a proper dialogue going around mental health.    

Following the cycle, Bressie approached us about taking part in the album 'Simple Things', a brilliant collection of songs, mostly written specifically for this album. We recorded a pared back version of 'Forget Me Knots' in Windmill Lane Studios, featuring members of the wonderful Dublin Gospel Choir. The album will be released this coming Friday - November 15th  - and we would urge you all to support it if you can.
