The blond couldnât help but snort at the womanâs answer. Of course she would believe that. After all, the kids were how he and Gwen had met. And, no, not like that, alright. She was a teacher. He had school-aged children. Parent nights happened, alright. And Gwendolyn was funny and kind and a good person.Â
She also happened to put up with waaaaay more of the Pendragonâs brand of bullshit than most people could shake a stick at. It was truly inspiring.Â
âA normal person,â he joked, smiling widely at her. âReally, though. It ainât like Is has anythinâ better tah do. She donât like her teacher. Says she ainât all that fun. Thatâs why weâre doinâ this project, hoping tah get her involved enough in class.â His little girl was bright, dangerously so, and she grew bored easily. Arthur had gotten numerous calls from the school about it, but there wasnât anything he could do. He wasnât going to punish her for being smart.Â
Arthur thought about what she was saying for a minute, sipping at his drink, and shook his head. âBecause you care about the kids. You love teaching them. You love watching them light up like a fuckinâ Christmas tree when they get somethinâ right. And you donât have the patience for grown-ass idiots. So you leave that shit show tah me.â He shot her a bright smile, grin stretching wide across his face, before he sat back in his chair, arm outstretched over part of the winged back.Â
âSure yah will,â he agreed, easily, as he always did. âDonâ see why not. âS not disgustingly early in the day, and I ainât got anywhere tah be. I can walk back.âÂ
Chuckling, she shakes her head, âSo Iâve heard.â She felt bad for finding the situation even a little amusing but sheâd done her best to help said teacher only to be ignored. âIs, isnât wrong though. Iâve heard a few of the complaints sheâs had but she thinks her way is the only way.â She shrugs waving a hand.Â
Her nose scrunched as if his words had disgusted her but the curl of her lips told otherwise. âYes, I suppose I do care about the little demons.â She jokes, a light chuckle leaving her. Cheeks flushed knowing Arthur knew this about her. Knew how much she truly enjoyed her job and the kids. âAnd youâre right, I have zero patience for idiotic adults. Iâd end up in jail for smacking someone with a chair.â She laughs.Â
âDo you really think Iâm going to let you walk? And just when I thought you knew me.â She shook her head in faux disappointment, sighing heavily to sell her act. âOr do you just want me to say Iâll give you a ride?â
