A challenge absolutely but one worth trying to tackle.
This mare and I have been learning so much about each other lately and itās been amazing to finally kind of get a breakthrough with her.
Pretty is as pretty does of course but this girl and I have a lot of growing to doā„ļø

I love this mare. And I wish I had the ability and stability to tell her owner to hold off selling her because Iād take her. But itās hard when you have no money, a shitty home situation, and a 5 month old baby.
It sucks cause honestly I didnāt know how much I loved her until her owner told me she was getting sold. Itās shitty. I have such a close like bond with her already and I love it and itās been so long since Iāve had that with a horse.

Meet Crystal.
Crystal is a 9 year old AQHA mare, and is a bit⦠special. In more than one regard.
Crystal is one of the sweetest, most gentle horses Iāve ever met, with the patience of a saint, but sheās got a few quirks about her that make her unique.
For starters, Crystal is smart enough to figure out how to open the door on her stall and how to open the gate, but somehow dumb enough to walk straight into a tree that was directly in front of her. Crystal also LOVES belly rubs and has made us think she was sick/injured a few times cause sheād lay down and scoot herself around on the ground just to scratch her belly. Sheās also got a thing for chewing on leadropes (annoyinglyā¦)
This is what you get when you buy a horse that fell into a frozen pond at 3 months old and almost died of hypothermia.
The thing is, Crystal needs some help. Crystal has /something/ going on with her legs thatās made her lame in all 4 legs. This poor mare went from one of the most spirited horses I know to barely able to walk in under 6 months.
The vet canāt pinpoint exactly whatās wrong without some really damned expensive medical procedures ($2000ish just for testing, x-rays, and a few other things). Her owner, my brother, doesnāt have that kind of money, and neither do I.
We both love Crystal dearly, and weād like to see her healthy again, but unless we can scrape up the cash, weāre afraid sheās going to have to be put down. She, Penny, and Cloud practically grew up together and are pretty much inseparable. (Fame only joined the herd two years ago, but heās only a two year old anyway)
I donāt usually ask for help, any of my friends will say that Iām really damn stubborn, but Crystal needs the help more than I need my pride. If anyone can donate anything to go towards Crystal potentially getting the help she needs, Iād greatly appreciate it.
Edit; This took off WAY more than I expected, so I decided to create a GoFundMe. Please, even if you canāt donate much, weād appreciate every penny!

Thank you everyone who reblogged this!

You guys, I still canāt believe all the support Crystal has gotten so far, and I seriously canāt stress enough how incredibly thankful I am.Ā
However, weāre not quite out of the woods yet! Crystal still is gonna need treatment after she gets her x-rays done, or potentially even further testing if the x-rays donāt find anything. Please guys, if we could keep this post going, it would mean the world to Crystal, myself, the other horses, and especially my brother!Ā
Thank you guys so much, and I mean that from the very core of my soul, I am so, so incredibly thankful! Even if you canāt donate, a reblog does just as good!Ā
Thank you again! Iāll schedule an appointment for Crystal to go to the vet sometime next week and post an update ASAP!
