THE FIRST FEW NIGHTS WITHOUT HIM WERE LONELY. it was like she had lost her best friend (her best friend was her pokedoll, of course, but never mind that) when gladion fled the aether foundation. the bed a mere few feet away was always empty, always neat and made. made perfectly. in the middle of the night when lillie would have nightmares, she’d go “gladion, you still awake?” usually, he would be, but lillie hadn’t broken that habit by the time he left, leaving the younger sister alone in the dark after a nightmare.

LILLIE LIKES TO READ IN THE MOONLIGHT. back when living at the aether foundation, lillie would always crawl out of bed late at night, open the window, and read her book using the moonlight to brighten up the pages, so she wouldn’t disturb gladion if she had used a flashlight.

when she travels to kanto with her mother, lillie picks up this habit again after getting rid of it while living with professor kukui. whenever she opens the window to read, she always looks up at the moon and thinks to herself “that’s nebby. i hope moon is taking good care of him.”

               ❛   i’m  actually  NEW  to  the  whole  ‘trainer’  thing,  haha.   ❜        link  saddled  himself  up  in  a  seat  beside  the  young  woman,  chin  rested  in  his  hands.  it  wasn’t  every  day  that  he  got  to  actually  TALK  to  someone  his  own  age!  let  alone  a  pretty  girl.         ❛   but… i  think  that  i’m  a  pretty  fast  learner              and  the  trainers  i’ve  talked  to  directed  me  here  to  learn  from  different  breeders.   ❜       //     @heavenreject  <3′d

            “  I’M PRETTY NEW   to being a pokemon trainer, as well !!  i’m rather late though, since most people start training at ELEVEN--  but i’m older now.  ”   lillie looks away for a moment as an attempt to  HIDE  her slight embarrassment, before looking back at the other.   “  i don’t actually know that many trainers myself--  but my best friend in another region is a champion !!  she’s the greatest pokemon trainer in the  WORLD,  and i started training pokemon so i can catch up to her.  ”

a blur of mocha brown and cotton candy pink fur bounced across the grass and rocketed straight for lillie, no sign of slowing in sight. all that can really be seen are two large, fluffy ears. will she dodge in time, or suffer a misdirected, full body tackle by the fluffy fiend ??

            SHE’S MERELY STARING  at her map when it starts, trying to find the  FASTEST  &  most  POKEMON-FREE  way to the nearest town, hoping to stop and take a rest. lillie’s wishes could come true, when she hears the ruffling of a patch of grass nearby. perhaps it’s a trainer, who can show her the way ??  lowering the map just a bit, she calls out at the patch of grass.

           “  hello !!  are you a trainer ?  i could really use some he–  ”   it’s as if a pokemon had just appeared out of  THIN AIR !  lillie’s suddenly knocked over to the dirt under her, arms outstretched and the map still covering her face. she’s absolutely knocked out, with no idea what hit her– a hit-&-run.

             “  I’M SORRY THAT I  didn’t tell you i was leaving yesterday, sun, i--  i only told professor kukui, because he was the one walking me to the marina.  ”   her expression was a  FROWN,  embarrassed to point out her mistake. lillie was bowing down a bit, muttering  ‘ i’m sorry ’  a million times to sun’s shoes. she  SNIFFLES,  rubbing her nose with the back of her hand before finally facing the alolan champion, showing to the other the tears that were now forming in her eyes.

             “  i... i just didn’t want to tell you, sun. i didn’t want to tell you  &  hau that i was leaving because that means that i have to say goodbye.  ”

            “  HOW DOES  battling work, moon ?  when people call out at their pokemon, i mean. is it like--  ”   her hand leaving the side of her shoulder bag spins around multiple times, before pointing forward ;  her feet in a battle stance, one foot forward and the other behind lillie.   “  go, nebby !!  use... tackle !  ”   after a few seconds, one could easily see her face quickly turn  RED  before lillie goes back into the position she was in before.   “  so, is it kind of like that ?  ”

             “  GLADION--  i’ve been wanting to ask you something, if you have the time.  ”   she finally caught up to her older brother, finding him waiting around somewhere in the foundation. it was a bit out of the way for lillie as her and sun were supposed to go looking for the sun flute, but she asked sun to wait just a little bit longer. she pauses for a moment to straighten her skirt, hoping to stop or at least slow down time, as she dreaded asking this question.

            “  why... why did you leave me behind with mother two years ago ?  ”

            “  HEY HAU,  you’ve got to wait up !!  moon  &  professor kukui haven’t even gotten off the boat yet !!  ”

            PERHAPS A ROLLER BAG  would’ve been a smarter choice for lillie, as the shoulder bag she always keeps nebby in tended to be a hinderance while she ran. her attempts of running after the energetic trainer were soon changed to just merely jogging, because of the bag.  ( maybe that should be on her shopping list when she finally gathers the courage to go into an apparel shop... )

            when the chances of lillie catching up to the other became low, she stops, taking a breath. cupping her hands, she yells, hopefully loud enough for him to hear.   “  ok, hau !!  i  WAS  planning on buying some malasadas for the two of us, but since you’re already too far ahead, i’ll just go by myself... !!  ”   surely that would bring him back running.

          Not only was she wearing a short, frilly skirt ( complete with knees      exposed ): Dawn wasn’t even wearing her coat. With a little bit of sunlight,      and nothing more than a calm breeze… there was nothing she found to be      intolerable about the weather the way it was. Dawn glanced at the device      on her fully-exposed wrist, checking an app on her Poketch: 

                       “ Hm? What’s the big deal? It’s only… what, 9c? That’s pretty damn                       warm. Like, spring weather. I don’t crack my coat out until it’s under                       6 degrees celsius. You’re gonna need to get used to the cold if you’re                       gonna make it out here. “

           NOPE.  in no such way was lillie prepared to survive in this kind of cold. she thinks this as she wears layers upon layers of assorted shirts  &  sweaters, but yet she was  STILL  shivering. the difference from alola to sinnoh amazed her, knowing that the second a slight breeze turned up in alola... it was time to break out the jackets. of course, lillie was probably  EXAGGERATING  the whole ordeal.

          “  HMMM ???  9c ?  spring weather ?  i feel like i’ve suddenly been transported to a world where everything’s the opposite--  what next, you’re planning on telling me that there aren’t any ice-type vulpixes  &  sandshrews ?  ”

           the trial captain asked, a look of concern showing in her green eyes.        She looked over the blonde girl, quietly wondering what was troubling her        so much.

          “  OH,  mallow !!  i was just... thinking about the festival and how nice it all looks, actually !  everyone did a really good job to prepare on such short notice.  ”   lillie smiles at the other for a brief moment before turning her delighted expression into a frown.   

          “  actually, there is something--  but you can’t tell hau, moon, or anyone else, OK ?  ”

     everyone’s smiles shine so brightly. those smiles led us to so many other people. and those meetings will lead us to a bright future. i’m so glad i got to meet everyone. i’m so glad i got to meet you.
