I get Sonic mania is around 6 years old now, but after playing it and playing the mania plus story line. It made me realize something...
If Eggman played his cards right, the magician Egg heavy
(↑ this guy right here) could have been TERRIFYING lets put this through ray's perspective when you play the mania+ storyline, You go through you meet mighty and Ray in a capsule and instead of taking the phantom ruby you free mighty and Ray and then you need to pick a character to team up with and the one you didn't choose turns out to be the magician egg heavy, who then takes the phantom ruby and floats away to a pile of messed up heavies and they teleport you away to a sunset version of green hill right? ok, think about this through Ray's eyes. ray looks up to mighty right? even in the Amy's anniversary comic he didn't think about himself he immediately started worrying if mighty is ok. so needless to say Ray cares about him. so imagine being a little guy seeing the guy who has protected him,helped train him, and basically has been an older brother to Ray. who he was travelling with for a good long while, just shape shifts into one of the badnik's he's been told to watch out for and that means he probably left the real mighty behind wondering around looking for his partner. and you can't go back to look for him because you just got teleported somewhere completely different. the amount of horror or scary shit that got left behind-
