I just saw the recent gen 3 beta Pokémon leak and had to draw a few

This is altaria's beta design btw

absol was my favorite pokemon for a really long time and whenever it pops up i'll go "omgomgomg that's the one i like!" so even though it isn't a big change i still had to draw it

EDIT: The following information is dubious, no other sources for this Pokemon, nor its validity seem to exist, so please treat its information with a grain of salt as it may very well be a fake!

This is a very VERY curious discovery, a beta Pokemon discovered by Digit-Aria on deviantArt, who found this image in an old web archive years ago from a friend of his, its origins are entirely unknown-it has only the name of ‘Kage no Mushi’ in its file name, where it came from is also a mystery, as is its validity but it is interesting nonetheless and draws a bit of art-style similarities to the alpha Pokemon starters, while at the same time it also resembles two other, currently existing Pokemon:

Paras, with its limbs, claws and mouth, appearing similar in style in that respect, and…

Sewaddle, with the whole insect+leaf camouflage motif and again, its mouth bears some resemblance to Sewaddle’s

-Wherever this Pokemon design came from, it definitely has some arrows pointing it toward legitimacy, however if anyone has seen this anywhere else on the web, either recent or from a long time ago, please send us a message!

-Blows the dust off this blog- Hey all, long time no post, I know, sorry about that; tldr my motivation for all things PKMN-related has been quite low, but then someone came to talk to me about this blog earlier today, and it brought back some fond memories+reminded me that I still do have so many things in my folders that I'd still like to share, even though there are already tons of folks out there who already do what I do now, and with more expediency and consistency; anyway, here's something I've been sitting on for a couple of years now; a fully rendered version of proto-Giratina's placeholder sprite that I came across during the chaos of the Oct 2024 Gigaleak; I'm extremely certain that this is a very well done piece of fanart because it has yet to make it onto anywhere like TCF etc, but unfortunately I have yet to find a source for the artist(not even through TinEye!), still I figured I'd share it with you all as a sign that I am still around! And to hopefully find a source through putting this image out into the world+getting more eyes on it!

i made this during the teraleak after noticing that some people were throwing in little fakes like a deoxys/mewtwo fusion from someone elses game- im also fascinated by the design process of old pokemon (namely the initial design->sugimori draws it->design finalized sequence and how the design looks at varying points and what goes into conceptualizing it).

At the time i was not fully able to use my tablet so i drew the initial sketches and lineart in my sketchbook, imagining the placeholder giratina beta as a fully realized design by just refering to sugimori's most common design choices and style

then i pushed up the contrast to isolate the lines and colored+rendered it on a laptop in paint.net, which was the easy part. The hard part was trying to replicate the compression in a way that resembled the other sugimori sketches being leaked at the time

then of course upload to pokeleaks and let it run free. now, because it couldnt be connected to any other individual involved with the leak (and also because it for sure was not even close to a perfect crime LOL) the mods of the subreddit caught on and took it down fairly quickly.

Amazing-thank you so much for coming forward and providing so much detail in the process of making the final, convincing piece come alive; absolutely loved the piece already when I initially stumbled upon it, but when it didn't wind up anywhere else online, I figured it might have likely been an emulation of the other leaked Sugimori pieces-and not only was that hunch right but wow the source being one of my mutuals is so so funny to me! What a small world! TY again for sharing! :D

I haven't really seen anyone talk about how beta Sableye most likely was the inspiration for Mega Sableye. They're SO similar. It's hard not to make this parallel.
