people don't share information with you for no reason. nobody walks up to someone and starts explaining something they enjoy for no reason. If it doesn't pertain to a task or a mutual goal or a nearby danger, they're telling you, "I want to share a connection", and that's equally important. If you push them down, they'll stop trying. I've been thinking about this exact thing a lot lately. The main way I've been trying to be okay about it began a few weeks ago when I met my younger sibling's friends at a production of The Lightning Thief the musical. I saw them and the other kids in the audience who were the same age as the kids from the book, and it made things a little better. I'm not them anymore, but I get to watch them do the best they can and experience the youth of the "protagonist ages" while they read and watch the same things that shaped me into the adult I'm becoming.

It's a lot healthier to go for a daily walk than to sign up for a gym membership you won't be using because you hate that kind of exercise. It's a lot healthier to eat a frozen meal than to skip a meal because you were too tired to cook something healthy. It's a lot healthier to take a quick shower than to procrastinate an elaborate routine for days. Don't aim so high that you won't be hitting anything!
