WE GOT SEAS ON OUR PLASTICS.
Did you know that wilds animals are affected by our lifestyle of excessive plastic consume?
Did you know that they are dying because of plastics?
Did you know that soon (2050) weāll have more plastics on the seas than animals?
Did you hear about the islands made of plastic?
As you can see the plastics are an issue in too many ways. But today weāll focus on microplastics.
Did you hear about them?
If you didnāt hear about them, āmicroplasticsā are very small pieces of plastic that pollute the environment. Microplastics are not a specific kind of plastic, but rather any type of plastic fragment that is less than five millimetres in length according to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
A study revealed that 3 of 4 mesopelagic fishes contained plastics in their stomachs.
Mesopelagic fishes are the principal source of food to tuna, dolphins, seals, swordfish, and sea birds amongst other animals.
This fact worries scientist because those fishes could transmit the microplastics all around the ocean and altern sea ecosystem.
Furthermore, these microplastics are invading our kitchen, if you like to enjoy a dish with shrimps, lobsters, clams or simply pour some salt in your food, you should know that up to 70ā of that food contain microplastics.
Another study made by orb media shows that people consume an average of 14 microplastic each day.
However, we donāt really know how this ingest of microplastics could affect us, scientist keeps investigating if this consume could affect our hormones functions or harm our health in any way.
Meanwhile, the scientist made their investigations and researches about how harmful could be to our health, we recommend you to try to avoid eat it and avoid animals to eat it too. And get an approach to a zero waste lifestyle.
If you want to joint the zero waste lifestyle, here are some recommendations:
Use aluminium or glass bottle instead of buying water bottled.
Avoid plastic straws, cups, lighters and those products made of plastics containers to other alternatives.ie gel for solid soap.
Moreover, choose natural fibres like( wool or linen) instead of polyester because of these last one release microplastics when you wash it.
And if you have to buy a plastic item, you may try buying it second handed.
