this is a canon ae-1, a model introduced in 1976 - and in a way, it seems to be one of the early “modern" slr cameras.
[...]
so now this ae-1 is waiting for me to finish playing with the agfa optima, and then it’s time to try this one out. i’m looking forward to seeing what it will do :)
i just picked up the developed negatives of the first roll of film i put through this camera - and found out that the camera has some pretty massive light leaks (orthogonal to the length of the film). which is too bad.
seems likely that the leaks are caused by deterioration of the seals on the door/hinge of the camera. can't decide if i want to try to fix those myself, find someone in germany who'd do a more thorough checkup and cleaning of the camera - or if i should just find a different camera of this model on ebay and sell this one again, described as "looks nice, but is defective" ... hmm.
