Another rent lowering gunshot: the older members of fandom are proship because they had to go through a time (that is, unfortunately, starting to become reality again) where everything was being censored. Entire fanfictions and fanarts were lost because websites removed them due to pressure from people very similar to current-day antis. This eventually led to the creation of AO3.

It's hard to say what I think of canon is Overhyped because this fandom is twenty years old and people have taken pretty much every scrap of material and extrapolated wildly about it. That being said, as much as I love Dan, I don't like how a lot of people tend to handle Ultimate Enemy. I have my select group of freaks that I talk about it with though. Favorite part of Canon that everyone else ignores? Tucker is a reincarnation of a Pharoah and soooo much of the fandom just kinda lets that slide on by without comment. But Tucker gets done sO DIRTY by the fandom.

But specific to the Phandom, and this is soooo petty of me, but someone posted about how they think Vlad would be an alcoholic and as someone deeply affected by an Alcoholic in my life I was just... You don't gotta give the man a substance abuse problem to explain why he's like that. Especially in the context of making it like, an irredeemable character flaw. IDK the tone of the post was like 'he's a bad person and so he's an alcoholic' which is sooooo not how addiction works you know? IDK what else I expected from the 'doesnt understand how trauma works' fandom though.
