Like, I know there’s no way nickelodeon would actually do this, but just picture it.
While Jazz is talking to Lancer about her concerns with Danny, what if she offhandedly mentions something she doesn’t realize is concerning about their home life. Like, maybe she mentions the Fenton stockades or something.
And as a mandated reporter, Lancer calls social services. In comes Spectra. She looks over the Fenton household, then takes the kids off to the side and praises Jazz for her bravery in reaching out. “If you hadn’t had the courage to tell your teacher about your situation, we would have never been able to get you and your brother the help you need.”
Now Danny feels betrayed by Jazz, and the two of them both blame Jazz for the situation. They’re about to be ripped apart from each other and their parents and in their eyes it’s all Jazz’s fault.
And since Spectra’s only doing this to feed off their misery, she’s pushing ideas like “oh honey, it’s not your fault your parents don’t love you enough to provide proper care.” And “if only they set aside as much time for you kids as they do for all these side projects.”
And all that on top of Jazz seeing Danny transform into a ghost, Jazz puts the puzzle pieces together and connects the neglect to the fact that her brother is dead and has been hiding it the whole time. And she doesn’t know half ghosts are a thing. She thinks he’s straight up dead.
Danny doesn’t realize Spectra is a ghost until it looks like it’s too late. He thinks there’s nothing he can do to stop what’s already been set in motion, all he can do is lash out. And so he fights Spectra, and she stops holding back and starts to pick apart every little insecurity and fear he has.
Just like in the original episode, Jazz sees Spectra transform into a ghost and attack her brother. Now she has a new subject to shift the blame onto instead of herself, and she uses the anger of her situation to attack and defeat Spectra.
Another social worker is sent over to verify the situation when Spectra doesn’t check in, and this new social worker ignores the previous concerns. The family won’t be separated.
But after this, Danny blocks out any and all evidence of his family situation being in any way not ideal, because if Spectra was right about this, what else could she be right about.
And Jazz learns that she can’t ask for help. She can’t be struggling, and she can’t show weakness. Right now, with the new information she has on Danny, and with how her parents have been acting, Danny is the priority. She needs to be okay so that she can help when he isn’t. And when she helps him she has to do it alone.
I really don’t know much about the cps system, so I’d have to learn some before I write anything more detailed, but this is such a fun idea to think about.
