Heir of Ra - M. Sasinowski
Alyssa signed up to study history, not to rewrite it.
An excavation of the fabled Hall of Records beneath the Sphinx unleashes an ancient disease that leaves her father fighting for his life. As Alyssa races to find a cure, she stumbles onto an artifact that could change history—or destroy our future.
With unexpected help from Oxford student Paul Matthews, Alyssa evades ruthless adversaries set on conquering the power within the artifact. As a global epidemic looms, they must unravel deep secrets hidden within it and unveil the link between a mythical civilization and the birth of Egyptian mythology, before time runs out.
Compulsively readable, M. Sasinowski’s electrifying debut thriller, Heir of Ra, is filled with action, technology, humor, and a generous dose of “what if” that just might have you question your history books.

Hi Guys!!
I’ve been on such a sci-fi kick lately! I’ve read some amazing sci-fi books in the past few months, so I thought I’d recommend some of my absolute favourites, some old, some very new! And if you decide you’d like to read them, then I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! I’m gonna give some vague, self written random summaries just to spice up this post haha, but I’ll also link goodreads descriptions too because I’m actually awful at describing books hahah
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
This book has such a unique layout, it has illustrations, emails, surveillance footage descriptions, it’s so different to any book I’ve ever read. Think different planets, AI’s, corruption, bioterrorism, there is so much going on in this book!
Vicious by V.E Schwab
This is one of my alllll time favourites! College students turned superhero/villains, near-death experiences and super powers, it’s truly brilliant
Contagion by Teri Terry
Okay, this is a weird one, that is almost paranormal too, but it centers around a contagious disease that spreads across the U.K originating from a top secret, possibly illegal research facility, so much mystery and conspiracy going on in this book
Invictus by Ryan Graudin
I like to think of this as time-travelling pirates haha. It’s very futuristic but has historical settings too which is really cool, and revolves around a boy who was born outside of time. The characters have great group dynamic and it’s so fun, and mysterious, and I loved it from start to finish.
A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
A trilogy that keeps of giving! Infinite alternate universes! This one is quite heavy on romance, and does have a big impact on the story, so if you’re looking for a romance with alternate universal travel, this is the book for you!
Defy The Stars by Claudia Gray
This one reminds me a little of illuminae, there’s war, there’s AI’s, space travel, its such an amazing book, it’s in my top 5 of 2017!
Cinder by Marissa Meyer
People living on the moon, cyborgs, space travel, fairy-tail retelling, amazing diverse characters, this series has it all
Nyxia by Scott Reintgen
This book blew me away when I read it recently! Set about 30 years in the future, teenagers from broken backgrounds, competing for the chance to travel onto a foreign planet that can sustain life to mine a mysterious substance in exchange for a hell of a lot of money! But nothing is as it originally seems!
The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James
Another one that I read recently and really enjoyed! Another one with travel to a new planet that can sustain life. Written in POV of the main character and emails / audio messages to earth and to another vessel that has been launched to help Romy after all the crew on her ship died, but what happened to them? What’s happening on earth? So much mystery…
I hope you enjoyed me rambling and trying to kind of describe books in my own words/ say what made me like them hahaha
Thank you for reading!
What are some of your favourite YA Sci-fi books?
