* Greetings! I'm here and doing better every day.

* To my mutuals and followers on all my RP blogs, I'm sorry. I'm gonna keep things casual until I have thr energy to update all my blogs, pages, and such. I'll probably limit which blogs I use and stick to RPing with mutuals.

* My OC canon has changed a bit so I need to change details.

Wintergrove Academy, a school for the richest families around. The hallways were long and spacious, windows twice as tall as they were wide, a balroom, multiple gymnasiums, a well-kept pool, and far more. It was, by all means, the height of luxury. Any wealthy family in the surrounding towns who wished to pass their status down to their children would send them to Wintergrove. The Richmans were no exception. In fact, they set the standard themselves.

In the town itself, they were the wealthiest. Their business and politics had shaped the town for generations, destroying opponents by any means necessary. To be blunt, they were rotten people, who's influence spread to the school which they funded. Without the Richmans, the academy was nothing. That was no secret.

Notorious as they were—their evil out in the open for all to see—many of the townsfolk still adored them. Some shred of a positive reputation was key for the Richmans. Everything they ever did—even adopting Sydney at age two—was to uphold this.

Their children were merely pawns to uphold the family's appearance, a burden which doubled for Sydney. Her life was nothing but a game, hard work, strain, and studying all meant to win the approval of her family. She was a brilliant young girl, heavily involved in the arts at school, with straight As and unwavering resolve.

Stuck-up as she appeared, underneath her fancy clothes and expensive schooling was a terrified girl, desperate to please the people around her.

But she was never enough, and if anyone made that clear, it was her elder sister, Amber Richman.

While her family had influence on the school itself, Amber was a queen amongst her peers, ruling over them with an iron fist. She was far from the only bully at school, but her rein was nothing to underestimate. Her clique alone had its own, smaller groups, of course. School social life wasn't as one-dimensional as a film may imply. Still, none came close to the terror that was Amber and her two closest friends.

Fear struck all who saw them, and for Sydney, this truth rung louder.

That day, like many before, the trio stopped Sydney in the hallway. Amber mixed a sweet tone with her bitter words, backhanded compliments and passive aggressive striking Sydney where it hurt. Still, as her friends (Bianca and Cassidy) left the sisters alone,, Amber insisted she was simply trying to help, that her insistant mockery was constructive and loving.

❝ Well, if you shall pardon me, dear sister, I must make my way to the chorus room... ❞

❝ D'aaaw, is someone hoping to get a solo this year? ❞ to anyone listening in, she seemed genuine enough, a certain sweetness to her voice with just barely masked the bitter aftertaste. Regardless of her tone, Amber was sure to shut her sister up a second before she spoke in response, ❝ If didn't know you'll fail, I might think that's, like, admirable or something. Instead I'm cringing. You're just going to embarrass yourself, Sydney. ❞

She circled around the other girl, looking her over with a disapproving gaze.

❝ Your hair ribbons—which are childish, by the way—aren't tied correctly, one of your socks is falling down, your blouse looks just simply horrid... at least let me help you. One of us has to stop our family from looking bloody stupid. ❞

Seeing Sydney flinch, she dropped the sour look, stepping closer to help adjust her attire.

❝ We have a reputation to uphold. Our family has done so much for you, making effort is the least you could do. Thank god you have me around to actually be patient with you. Eugh... ❞

❝ ...My apologies. ❞ Sydney was always making an effort, one so taxing that she had become a mere shell of her former self, decorated with pretty bows and high expectations. Everything inside was kept locked there, frozen, forced into the back of her mind as best as she could. Exhausted as it made her, she'd ensured she was a living embodiment of perfection. Even then, she hardly came close to her sister.

Her parents had a clear bias toward her siblings, but she swore the blame was on her. She hadn't worked hard enough to be as good as them, that was all. It was on her to maintain flawlessness. If she wasn't little miss perfect, then who was she?

❝ I must try my best, for that very reason. Failure is not an option. I have to go above and beyond, which is why I'm auditioning. Mother and father deserve the best from me, in every aspect of my life. I owe it to them... ❞

He’s gotta say, he’s honored to meet the guy. Walking off on a school field trip didn’t usually get him into such wild situations, but hey, he had no complaints. This was far better than a lecture on the production of Batman Vs. Superman.

He looks around the teen at the group of students that was getting further and further away, raising an eyebrow. “ Say, if you want to get away from your little dog and pony show of the hollywoods what’s not show I’m sure I could scrounge up some real fun, my guy. ”

‖ 🥁 ‖ — Malcolm didn't have friends, truthfully. They had no experience with closeness, with having someone to vent to, with I being vented to in return. They—like Yakko just had—tended to brush off any pain. Better to patch up any cracks in their mind with a bad joke than to let themself be vulnerable.

He was right, they thought. A self-deprecating joke to conceal the pain truly was how their generation coped. Regardless of how long he'd been out of that iconic tower, Yakko seemed observant as hell... though when his job was to cracks jokes and sparky comments at the drop of a hat, Mal figured that was to be expected.

Finally, someone they could crack a joke to.

❝ Please. I saved up for this trip, and all we've seen so far are the movies nobody really likes. ❞ they rolled their eyes, before something popped into their mind, the perfect pun, ❝ I could use something more fun. Zany, if you will? Doubt they'll notice I'm gone. ❞

She'd be working at a different camp this summer, but yes, hearing Julian sent her back to her days as a Flowerscout, meeting him outside and scolding him for his careless littering. The memory makes her blood boil, if she's honest. How he could have been so careless she knew not. Regardless of his past actions, she couldn't help but feel bitter as their eyes met.

When a boy meets her gaze, she can't help but think, she ought to be flattered, but right now she can't feel anything but dread.

She keeps it in herself, the end to their precious meeting, the punishment she reviewed for associating with him, how it was the final straw. She's angry, but knows her being kicked out was nobody's fault but her own.

...she doesn't want to burden him, anyways. She's gone from angry to anxious so very quickly.

‖ 🎹 ‖ — ❝ Julian, ❞ gently, she removes his hand from her shoulder, turning herself away from him, ❝ I suppose you're here to laugh at me? For working at such a poor excuse of a camp as Camp Campbell? ❞

His words earn nothing but a roll of her eyes, as she turns her face and swats him away. Things were rough enough already. First home, then school, and finally camp... it doesn't help to have Julian around. All it does is run salt in the wound.

❝ We were never friends, Julian, ❞ she corrects, fiddling with the ribbons in her hair. She's stood up straight, shoulders back and head held high, yet the shakiness of her breath suggests she's not as collected as she acts.

Still, she keeps up the charade, hardly giving him her attention as she walks onward to the Mess Hall. Friends... she scoffs at the thought, though she feels her heart sink all the while.

❝ Tell me, what is your business here? ❞ she inquires, an eyebrow raised, ❝ do you need something? Or are you just here to cause trouble? ❞
