“While everything being free is nice and all, I do miss home. Don’t you?”
“no,” alexios stated simply. “‘home’ was a nightmare i couldn’t wake up from.”
tinkerbell huffed as she made her way along the path of a forest. she had a coffee cup in hand, an essential start to her morning walks — she hadn’t realized how much she needed it until she had tried it. nevertheless, her breathing was slightly audible as she ascended the trail. the fairy stopped at the bench she had constructed, only to sit down and exhale. ❝ this whole thing’s stupid. i don’t know why i can’t just leave. ❞
since his evidence from the day before had gotten contaminated, terry found himself back in the forest, looking for some other trace of the attacker he’d been trying to track, but so far, his efforts had been fruitless. pinching the bridge of his nose, he closed his eyes and sighed, starting to walk back in the direction he’d come from. bruce would probably be ashamed of him if he knew he’d given up for the day already, but terry wasn’t the genius his mentor was, he was just a guy doing his best — which apparently wasn’t too great without future tech at his disposal. hearing the exhale, his eyes shot open and he had to stop walking immediately, lest he wanted to walk shin first into a bench he could have sworn wasn’t there a few minutes ago. “wait, what was that?” he asked, considering the girl’s complaint for a moment. come to think of it, he hadn’t tried to go back home yet… “what’d you mean you can’t leave?”
carefully padding through the spa and toward the sauna, triss was careful to hold her towel in place. she’d never been a modest woman before, at least, not before the fire that’d left her chest scarred and disfigured ( or so she remembered it ). supposedly, she should have had the powers to magically and instantly wash the scars away, but despite the dream-like memories she’d recovered upon arrival in this place, it didn’t feel even remotely plausible to her. her mind far too focused on staying covered up, and the ridiculous notion she might be able to wipe those scars away, she didn’t even realize she was on a collision course with anyone until it was far too late, crashing bodies with a familiar face, messy crimson bun falling loose in the process. instinctively, she reached out to make sure the other girl wouldn’t fall, but by some miracle she managed to hang on to her towel. it did slip, though, revealing scars she didn’t have the last time she remembered crossing paths with the ashen-haired young woman. “fancy seeing you here,” she joked, pulling her towel back up to her collar and hoping the marred tissue had gone unnoticed. @cfcynics
“fuck off,” vegeta demanded, not even bothering to open his eyes and look at whoever was trying to bother him. just lounging around was not him, anyone who knew him knew that, but bulma and trunks tended to enjoy the relaxation — lying out by the pool, soaking in the sun, he could actually see why — and despite the promise that they’d be around this place somewhere, he hadn’t found them yet so he hoped he’d find them out here at some point during the day. so he’d consider this waiting around meditation. if whoever this annoying person was would give up and go find someone else to bother. “i said, fuck. off. you. imbecile.” speaking the words aloud did pique his curiosity, however. peeking out through a single parted eyelid, he closed his eyes again and didn’t let the relief of seeing an old friend show on his face. “oh,” he mused, folding his arms behind his head. “kakarot. i thought you might be here.” @surely-jasper-would
.。.:*☆ One thing that Phoebe was really missing to do, was being able to create spells and brew potion. This one had no particular purpose, it was just for Phoebe to keep her skills in shape.
It was a rather warm day yet again, so her apartment door was wide open while Phoebe picked out a new ingredient, carefully pouring something of it into the cauldron standing in front of her.
maybe it was the concussion, maybe it was the drinks he’d had afterwards, it was impossible to be sure, but alexios was out of it. very out of it. staggering through the lobby, he made it into the elevator, pressed a button he was pretty sure would get him to the ninth floor and he had every intention of getting to his room and passing out as soon as he made it through the door, but things didn’t quite go to plan. instead, he somehow managed to wind up on the third floor, and stumbled through the halls purely out of muscle memory. unfortunately, that muscle memory wasn’t quite enough to get him all the way to room forty-nine, not that he would have been able to get inside anyway. instead, he literally fell just shy, finally falling out of consciousness and collapsing outside of an open apartment door.
drogon reared over the horizon, red and black wings blocking her view of the sun. when she saw him she found herself again –– that fire in her heart that reminded her who she was. in a way, daenerys targaryen and her children were hatched as one, together. they blossomed into the world as the dragons that would change everything. when she was with them, she felt her strongest. when she was with them, she truly felt like daenerys stormborn of the house targaryen.
he was beautiful, larger than life, and every moment with him in this world was a moment unalone. even when he was somewhere else –– flying, hunting, off in the wild, it didn’t matter. dany could feel him out there, and that was enough. the great dragon landed by her side and lowered his head so she could meet his eye. she wanted to cry every time she looked at him, an emotion between love and relief. the child she hadn’t lost. the child that hadn’t been taken from her. dany pressed her hand to the side of his face, just below his eye, the sharp and coarse feeling of his scales offering a comfort of familiarity. drogon pressed his head into her palm and she smiled, using her other hand to wipe a tear from her cheek. “i know,” she whispered.
his attention shifted suddenly, and he moved to the side, looking over daenerys’ shoulder. she turned, following his gaze to an onlooker. “don’t worry,” she assured them. “he won’t harm you.” only if i command it, she added silently. only if it’s to protect me.
“w—what the hell…?” by certain accounts, triss should have been used to the sight of creatures and monsters of all shapes and sizes, but that felt like a distant, faded dream. her worldview, no matter what she was told, was still firmly rooted in this reality. so for her to watch the large, scaly beast to blot out the sun above, she was frozen in place. scarlet tresses swaying in the gust of wind the dragon created when it landed, she watched in terror for the poor blonde woman that was about to become lunch. her hand stretched out, and she parted her lips to yell for the woman to run, but her voice was non-existent, and her feet were trapped in cement. or so she could have sworn.
please, don’t breathe fire. don’t breathe fire, she pleaded with the universe. the only thing more terrifying to her than the beast was the idea of being engulfed in flames once again. she was met with true surprise when the giant creature seemed to act like a small, loving pup, letting the woman caress its… cheek(?) with such familiarity. how could that be? when the dragon turned his attention to triss, however, the red head could have jumped out of her skin if she wasn’t already terrified to the point of immobility. ciri had told her about a man named geralt — where the hell was a witcher when she needed one?
“it won’t harm me?” she repeated after the woman, fighting not to laugh at the absurdity of that sentence as despair set in. “how could you possibly know that? run while you can!!”
ah, his lifelong enemy– the vending machine. stiles was not even phased when his chocolate bar got stuck, he almost expected it. he gave the big, ol’ machine a couple kicks. sometimes that sufficed, but unfortunately for him, this was not one of those times. he let out an exasperated sigh and glanced around, gesturing at the person nearby to join him. he learned from past mistakes that shaking a vending machine was a two people job. “come here, let me shake this son of a bitch. it’s not gonna steal from me, not again.”
“oh, dude, for sure!” chloe had been in this poor guy’s current position way too often to just ignore the his current plight. trotting over to the machine, she gave it a little bump with her shoulder too, just on the off chance that worked. it didn’t. that damn chocolate bar was lodged pretty good. glancing over at the boy, she steadied her hands on the opposite side of the machine from him. “uh, ready when you are,” she said, giving it a tiny shove to prove it.
The forest was a nice place, it wasn’t full of monsters or dangerous animals. It was peaceful. A place where she could go and look around for possible artifacts that she could take home and study over. It seemed like a lot of random objects appeared here and there, which made her wonder what all types of people actually appeared there. Being new to the area, she didn’t have a lot to work with, but the library was a good source as well was the local Newspaper, as it was called. She picked up an old triangular rock that looked very peculiar to be that of a normal rock. An arrowhead perhaps? It did look like one from what she could remember of Link’s bow. Quickly, she pulled out a box from her satule that she kept random findings in, careful to place it among the cushion she put in using paper. ❝ Seems there really is more than what meets the eye here. ❞ She muttered to herself, pulling out her journal to record the finding.
everything wasn’t back to him yet, maybe it never would be, but terry found himself falling into old habits regardless. it felt like a return to form, tracking down whoever attacked that young couple in the woods. doing nothing would have felt like the wrong thing to do though, he had an adverse reaction to even considering it. sometimes he wished he was still clueless about his old life, it would have been a lot easier. when he overheard the couple mention it at the fire pits, he didn’t hesitate to take a little stroll down to the forest before the sun set completely. it wasn’t like he had the mask here, and the night vision he imagined must have been incorporated into the goggles.
they said their attacker had a bow, so imagine his disappointment when he stumbled upon a young woman contaminating the only bit of good evidence he’d come across yet. “no, no— don’t!” terry tried to call out to the girl, but he knew it was too late. not shway, he thought, internally rolling his eyes at the dumb phrase having returned to his lexicon, though he wouldn’t trade the memories of his brother annoying him with the slang for the world. “hey, uh, i wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t important, but d’you think i could have that?”
“Listen, I’m not bored — this is just my resting face,” Joker explained, waving a dismissive hand at the notion that he would actually be bored… to someone’s face, anyways. “But I do hate listening to people rag on themselves. Not that I’m some positive ‘always believe in yourself’ kind of guy, but it’s not constructive. To anyone. Least of all yourself.”
“if you fell as far as i’ve fallen,” vegeta spoke through gritted teeth. this human body was pitiful –- no flight, no control over his energy, moving around at a snail’s pace, it was maddening for him. he’d been such a proud warrior, and now… he was pathetic. fist suddenly clenching, he slammed it into the drywall, only further enraged by the pain. “i used to be a god!”
“just imagine—” april smirked, just barely, as she walked through the forest with her companion for their little hike. her mind had always been a bit twisted and dark, but with her new memories to draw from, her mind had tended to go the creepiest places possible as of late. “—there’s probably so many bodies buried all around us.”
❝ i’ve been staring at amazon and ebay for a whole ten minutes trying to decide what to buy, ❞ sarah mentions, taking a brief glance up from her phone to her companion. ❝ how am i supposed to know what to buy for a fourteen year old? what will he want? what does he like? ❞ she becomes exasperated, sighing and locking her phone screen. she has plenty of time to stress over it, for now she just wants to embrace the excitement of her brother joining her.
❝ kids are so difficult to understand and buy for.. remind me not to have any. ❞
“buy him a machete,” april stated, entirely deadpan. hell, she was almost serious. a fourteen year old boy would have a lot of fun with a machete. he woudn’t make fifteen, she supposed, but he’d have a good time at fourteen. “—or a venomous snake.” pulling out her phone, she brought up a website she’d found in her husband’s browser history, mostly because she switched to his user profile to look at the website herself. holding back a little bit of a giggle, she displayed the phone to the other woman. “he’d definitely appreciate a subscription.”
slipping the phone back into her pocket, april quit joking around for a minute to give a sincere answer — something rare for her. “i’m not gonna try to change your mind about that, but i can tell you from experience, he’ll appreciate whatever you get him because it came from you. kids are easy to manipulate like that.”
The town, it was very similar to Arcadia Bay but with more charm. It was simple enough to get around, and having her own space was just a bonus. Her photos were all over her apartment on light stings and there was room to spare for more. Her camera was tight in her grasp as she went around the town taking pictures of whatever inspired her. She was kneeling on the ground in the park, taking a photo of a dragonfly that had perched on a wildflower, careful not to disturb the insect. Once she had her photo, she smiled and just admired it. ❝ It must be nice not having to worry about real life… ❞ She spoke softly to it, sitting cross legged on the ground.
the park was quiet, and for once in her life, the calm was something chloe appreciated. she’d spent so long — or at least it felt that way — with so many different traumatic memories banging around in her mind that being able to finally tune it all out was such a relief. she didn’t even need to blast some firewalk through her headphones to relax. she did however, finally feel like lighting up. it was still morning, so she could consider this a little bit of a ‘delayed’ wake & bake. taking a drag from the blunt, she dropped her head back, renewed blue tresses brushing her own shoulders. then she heard that familiar click, and it immediately perked her up, head lashing to the side to get a look at who was taking photos, and then as if the back of her head wasn’t enough, chloe heard max’s soft words to what was probably a bug or squirrel. smirking, chloe stood quietly, taking giddy, gentle steps over to her best friend and slipping her hands over the other girl’s eyes. max was gonna be hella freaked out if she didn’t have her memories, so chloe was sure hoping she did. “guess who, nerd.”
