I’ve been feeling kind of shitty since the day the sky was orange (felt REAL shitty the next day, mildly shitty since) and I saw someone say that worse levels are headed this way, and I am trying to figure out if that is accurate, but I can’t find anything. Idk if I’m just doing a bad job searching but I can’t find anything predictive. And I really need to know!

Every morning at camp I gather all the kids in a circle and then I ask them all a 3-way would you rather question. And this is my favorite one that I’ve come up with so now I’m asking all of you.

I petsit a lot for my childhood best friend’s parents, and whenever it’s nice I let their cat out on the screen porch and hang out there for awhile. And I am always so charmed when I see this windchime that we made on a 6th grade school trip. I have no idea what happened to mine, but I think it’s so sweet her parents have it up. That was one of my favorite activities from the trip.

If I could change one thing about myself it would be to not take everything so fucking personal. Unfortunately I have been trying for the past decade and it has never once worked.

Tofu is such an odd shape and I feel like it should make him ugly but it doesn’t. I really think he must have some exotic cat breed genes in there and he is SO lucky it just gave him a long body with kind of big ears and not some weird looking face.

Can I just say? So much going on with children these days is so terrible. But one of my kids has a g-tube and feeds himself through the tube at lunch and it’s been SO heartening to see how respectfully curious the other kids are, and how comfortable he feels doing this in front of people and answering their questions. Like the way they all interact around this has given me a lot of hope for the future because no one is mean or weird about it. They have questions and they know how to handle them in a kind and appropriate way and they are learning about differences so the next time they see a kid with a tube they will know and they can educate others. And I just think that’s so nice and cool.

I just finished writing our play for this week and I’m going to be honest, I don’t think it will make sense to anyone besides the kids who came up with it. But that’s okay, because this show is for them. And also there is a chipmunk version of Rick Astley and I think that’s pretty damn funny.

Difficult moment when you are worried a child is accidentally misgendering someone, but that kid chose not to share their pronouns during the introduction circle so you’re not sure what they are, and also has a pride flag button on their backpack that you’ve never seen before and can’t find online.

Also that big experience distracted me from the post I wanted to make which is that I have a 60 minute EKG tomorrow. And I’m not worried about it, EKGs are per comfortable and I don’t think it’s going to show anything (it’s just to rule things out, but I already did a heart monitor which came back with nothing abnormal), but really, 60 minutes? That so long. And I just finished my audiobook.

Horrifying but-related experience just happened. Went to book club and we were outside which was really lovely except that there were a bunch of beetles flying around. Managed to have a nice time despite this. Got home. Changed into pajamas. Felt an itch on my belly. Scratched it over my clothes and felt like something was there. Wondered if there was like a little cat claw or something. Pulled up my shirt and it was a fucking beetle. I think it must have been on the outside of my shirt and then somehow changing dropped it on my belly. Hate hate hate hate hate it still feel gross and also it was in my bed briefly(screamed and flicked it off me) so not I’m going to have a hard time falling asleep.
