I finished reading Event Horizon and I was so inspired and so in love with your writing style than I read all of your fics…….. and I just have one question!! What would you have done with Fate Has Never Been Kind?
Hello hello! First off thank you so much for your kind words, that is incredible sweet ;A; I hope you enjoyed the full catalog! There’s a lot of variety in setting so hopefully they were all engaging reads, but I digress.
Moving on to your question about Fate Has Never Been Kind…
I don’t get too many questions about the Fate series despite it being one I personally enjoyed a lot at the time! For whatever reason, it just sadly never made it past the gauntlet of writer's block, even though I had an idea for where I wanted to end the series, and I never circled back to it.
Basically where I saw the series going was a short intermission fic after Storm Season that would cover the uncorrupting of Dream and Drista, and then a final, longer fic with uncorrupted Dream POV, kinda end it where we all began with his telling of the story. It would’ve been an interesting look at his character, because he would remember some of his time corrupted by the void, but he would also be the Clay that fought for a living to keep him and his sister fed. Compared to the Dream we saw in Oresteia, this one would’ve been a lot more dour and closed off, with little interest in anything that wasn’t taking care of his sister (which she didn’t need anymore, she grew up without him), and it would follow his struggles trying to adjust back to living life instead of only surviving.
There also would’ve been some more lore about the Progenitors and their magic, and basically how Willow was coping well with it and Clay was not. I actually have a little snippet I unearthed where I was sketching out a scene from that last fic, but that’s all I ever wrote besides hardcore stalling on that intermission fic. When I wrote this, I hadn't decided how Dream and Drista’s magic would manifest, so don’t look at that too hard lol
But yeah! I think that’s about it, oh one more thing, but naturally happy ending everything works out, but not without some major ups and downs, but y’all could’ve guessed that since its coming from me XD
So! Life happens as it does, and I’ve had a bit of a setback.
I was on track to release the book late this summer, with the 1st test print of the paperback being almost exactly what I had envisioned, and then its sister arrived a few weeks later and something was very amiss. After some trouble shooting, thinking I had messed up my printing files, the 3rd one arrived and the problems were consistent and confusing. I reached out to my publishing partner, Bookvault, and learned that the US printer they were contracted with recently filed for bankruptcy this spring, and the facility has since been taken over by a new company.
However, I was reassured that nothing in the printing pipeline had changed, and figured I’d test that by ordering a copy of WGBITN, whose files I have not touched since 2024 when I finalized the design. Upon arrival, it is my opinion that these slight discrepancies continued, and while perhaps not a big deal to others, it matters to me that my product is printing as I intend. It is my opinion that these differences are because something has changed in the production process, but without any further information regarding what has potentially changed, that unfortunately lands me back at having to trial and error my way into getting the books looking like I want.
I really wanted to get this all sorted before the end of July, because I’m going on vacation to celebrate my 30th birthday and won’t be able to continue playing badminton with this new printer, but that’s not looking like it’s going to be the case. I am hoping beyond measure to have it sorted as quickly as possible though. I want to share this book with y’all so bad, this setback is killing me, but as always, we persist no matter what!
Hopefully things will proceed smoothly once I figure out the new procedure, but for now, the new shaky release window is this fall, October if I can swing it! Thank you for your continued support and engagement even though there’s been such a delay. I’m still plugging away at writing while I try to get all the stupid nonsense of publication sorted, and have started chipping away at the third book, All The Places Nightmares Thrive.

My discord voted to have all 3 versions (ebook, paperback, hardcover) released at the same time, so hopefully this time it'll be easier for everyone to get the version they want!
I need to actually do some promo for it though so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Hello! I first read Event Horizon 4 years ago, and it genuinely changed my brain chemistry. The writing style, the detail, the way the characters interact all made it feel like a real place that I’m sad I can’t visit. As someone who really wanted to be a writer for a long time, it inspired me with both world building and character relationships. Even now, being out of the fandom and much busier than I used to be, I try to reread it once at least every year because the lessons in De Terra about appreciating the little things and the reminder in Ad Astra that we are all more similar than we think is beautiful and makes me unreasonably existential for at least a week after I finish every reread. I recently found you on tumblr and just going through again and seeing all the art and people that feel the same way that I do about this wonderful masterpiece you’ve created really makes me happy, so thank you so much for helping me see the world in a different perspective and for bringing all these people together.

When I was in the waiting room at the hospital for my dad's surgery (he's fine it was just an ankle surgery) I reread the Event Horizons series and have soo many questions (because that surgery took forever omg) that all mostly revolve around Voidfall and EH!Ranboo's family and Zeetho and Ettaah (those two seem like such a potentially intresting characters). I think if I asked them all in this post it'd be very overwhelming and packed so these are some shortened versions ig:
• Why was Ranboo the favorite child of Ettaah and was he also Zeetho's favorite child?
• What else is there about Ettaah to know other than what little we saw?
• How would Zeetho have reacted/felt to meeting EH!Tubbo and knowing he was EH!Ranboo's cariad and that in a technically way, EH!Tubbo was a member of the royal family? (Also vice versa with EH!Tubbo meeting Zeetho) would Zeetho be like that one the owl house character's mom who was like "Girlfriend 😨??? No we'll find you a new one"
• Would Ettaah have liked EH!Tubbo?
• Why did Reshaa hate EH!Ranboo so much?
• Did you ever come up with the age differences between EH!Ranboo and his siblings? How old were their parents because it seems like Reshaa is in her 30s but Zeetho is still king so he in his 50s/60s?
• How did EH!Ranboo feel about his nieces and nephews? Did they feel bad leaving the kids when they left for good?
• How would EH!Ranboo and EH!Tubbo be as parents (to Micheal I assume) I feel like there's potentially a lot of angst with EH!Ranboo not wanting to be like Zeetho.
• How did Voidfall change after Ranboo left? I assume he never gets a grave in the garden, and is never spoken of again but how do they affect/effect (can't remember rn) their families reputation? Also what would Meleeri's reaction be to loosing a charge with EH!Ranboo, something she literally said she wouldn't let that happen with him.
• Can we know anymore about EH!Ranboo as a baby with Zeetho and Ettaah? It's hard to imagine Zeetho actually being around his children in their infancies but he says that EH!Ranboo had tried to pull out the jewels in Zeetho's crown and they got the nannies mad so he obviously spent enough time with his kids to give them something so important and know how the nannies felt. Or was it like a Napoleon (I think?) situation where he would put his crown on their heads and laugh when they fell over from the weight of it.
• Did EH!Ranboo visit their mother's grave one last time before dipping from Voidfall forever?
• Does EH!Ranboo get a weird feeling of homesickness for Voidfall like how some people with bad pasts get for their old homes even if they were awful?
I'm so so so sorry if these are too much, I tried to shorten them down as best I could without asking every single question I thought of in that waiting room but I have soo many more. That surgery was literally so long I had nothing to do other than read and think and try not to get mad at Lily's Garden ☹️ also, I truly admire your work and Event Horizons did help me get through a difficult lonely school year (half because I was bored and half of the theme of that things will get better [and they did! ^^])

Heyo. Sorry it took me a hot second to answer, I haven’t been on socials much these days for ye olde mental health, but I appreciate your patience!
To save space, I’m not gonna retype questions if that’s alright! But in order (also under the cut because Length):
1. Ettaah was very good at court life and also raising her children to survive in court, but that didn’t mean she really liked the little monsters they had to become. Since Ranboo was still so young when she died, she never really had to watch him become as conniving as the rest! I’m not sure if Zeetho could pick favorites out of his kids, but he does hold a special fondness for Ranboo since he named him, and also a part of him is happy one of his kids escaped Voidfall.
2. I didn’t have a whole lot of specifics for Ettaah! Ranboo’s view of her is very biased though, and she was a lot less sweet and kind than he knew her to be. She became queen by basically outcompeting all of her rivals in court (lots of murders staged at her hands), and she enjoyed playing the game until she started having her kids and had to watch them go through court training. It wasn’t fun anymore after that.
3. I’ve never seen Owl House, but Zeetho wouldn’t have cared too much about the gender of the cariad since Ranboo wasn’t the heir, so there wouldn’t be an issue with the line of succession. Doesn’t mean he wouldn’t have been racist and condescending though. Tubbo would’ve shot him.
4. No, she would’ve felt like he was below Ranboo’s station.
5. I think that’s alluded to a few places in De Terra, but she was jealous her mother clearly favored Ranboo over her daughter, the heir.
6. Eh I think I had a list of them at some point but I can’t find it and I can’t remember. I think Reshaa is 30 minimum? She’s got like twin 10 year olds. So yeah Zeetho would be in his 50’s/60’s since he would’ve fathered Reshaa in his 20’s
7. Ranboo’s not super great with kids? And since the siblings all have such cutthroat relationships, most of them wouldn’t really let their siblings spend a lot of time with their kids? So I don’t think Ranboo knew any of them very well. They would probably feel some guilt thinking about kids growing up in Voidfall, but there’s a lot more than just the royal family, and it’s kinda a, ‘what can ya do’ situation.
8. I think I talked about that some on stream once? It was a long time ago, but yeah both of them would have a lot of adjustments to make and Ranboo would be worried a lot about repeating the clusterfuck of his childhood.
9. Voidfall largely continues on as is. I think officially they say Ranboo died? And no one really questions it. Eventually though Reshaa does poison Zeetho to take the throne, but that’s pretty expected. Also, Meleeri died a good bit ago in universe (she was old). It was going to be mentioned in one of the Lesson flashbacks, but it got cut for other material. She would’ve been pissed though, I think it would’ve killed her.
10. Zeetho and Ettaah both spent as much time as they could with their kids without clearly marking them as favored (it would put a target on the kid’s back), but this is kind of a broad question? Typically in royal households, nannies do a lot of the child rearing, but Zeetho and Ettaah were a part of their children’s lives. As warped and horrible as both the parents were, they did love their children in their own way, but that doesn’t excuse the things they did.
11. No, they didn’t exactly have the time. You don’t linger when Reshaa is pissed off and looking for an excuse to maim someone.
12. Probably! But it’s mostly like missing food or music, the landscape, just Annwyl in general.

So I'm rereading Event Horizon (again) and there's this question that's been bugging me since my very first read so I decided finally ask you
Okay so basically I've been wondering about 'The Declassified Galactic Survival Guide' is that something Tubbo perhaps read or maybe even wrote? Or is it just something given to us readers as an extra to his experiences? Because for Ranboo's part it's obviously his memories and the things he learned but for Tubbo it's not as clear so I was just curious what you had in mind writing the entries
The intermissions are also a very awesome concept btw how you came up with that?

Heyo! The Galactic Survival Guide was my idea for breaking up scenes and also giving backstory/context to the reader without having characters info dump! Perhaps it's something EH!Tubbo would've read, but he definitely did not write it! I don't think he has the patience to write an entire book lol
The Guide was inspired by the irl book 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'!
Hi I was re listening to event horizon(more specifically de Terra) recently and it made me realize something, mainly with the marriage thing (from my memory at least of reading the Hall of the king Underhill is) with Tubbo and Ranboo in both fics seems very similar but swapped, like the other was unaware, was that intentional or am I remembering wrong?? Yes I could just reread the fic and get an answer but I'm too lazy to do that.. 😭
Hah yeah they are inverted when it comes to the marriage trope. It's been so long, I can't exactly remember why I felt compelled to do it again, but I felt like it fit EH Ranboo and exploring his culture! I do remember telling one of my editor besties that I was worried people would be upset that I was using the same plotline again though lol XD
