It was perhaps the first time in nearly three years that life had been breathed into the halls of Croft Manor — patrons from all demographics perusing the interior, marveling at the historical wonders on display from the most recent expedition in Petra whilst mingling with strangers and indulging in free endless martinis and hors d'oeuvres.

In common man's terminology? A private party.

The host? World renowned archeologist, author, and globe-trotter — Lara Croft, with the aim of procuring sponsors for the next adventure; no stranger to the awe-stricken pupils that watched her every move as she exchanged pleasantries in her evening attire.

❝ This is actually one of my favorite pieces from the expedition — this stone slab is carved in Nabataean! ❞ there proves clear enthusiasm in her wording, yet restrained in a classy sort of way — have to play the part in order for the show to go on, eh? ❝ It talks about a great commander and how his troops revered him as a mig— ❞ the history lesson is abruptly paused, hazel eyes catching wind of a particular well suited bloke climbing a flight of stairs that had been labelled strictly off limits to attendees — what was the angle here?

❝ Pardon me... ❞ she dismisses herself from the conversation; continuing to study the mysterious male as he reached the second level of the East Wing to truly be in restricted territory indeed.

Where are you off to, bastard?

The intrepid explorer wastes no qualms about following after the elusive individual; trailing just enough behind to not lose line of sight whilst also to not alert they were being tailed — eyes spectating in horror as the man proves downward on a single knee... picking the lock to her late father's office.

It didn't take long for him to succeed; yet not impressive to Lara in the slightest — anybody over the age of five can pick a lock, so what was the true ambition here? She waits a beat, watching as the man crosses the threshold and disappears into the room in question; giving Lara the signal she needs to press forward — heels prove like the dead, not a sound to be heard... rounding into the threshold of the office door; greeted by the sight of @fifthimpact rifling through her father's files.

❝ Rifling through a lady's personal artifacts before fetching her a drink? ❞ she announces her presence — treating the intruder to the sight of her form cockily leaned against the wood of the door's frame, ❝ Must say... poor form... ❞ there is a smirk that follows, golden heel effortlessly shutting the entrance behind herself.

❝ ...I expect better from the men I invite back home. ❞

With a tap of the screen? A holographic projection would shoot up from the device and display none other than a dossier for Katherine Bishop, another swig of her coffee; with a swipe of her finger? The display on the projection would metamorphized into a wordy document from The United Nations... its headline?

The perk of both women's identities being public knowledge? This conversation could happen in a laid back setting such as this one; so any worries of prying eyes proved nonexistent.

Curious! Is there a particular reason that you have two roster slots occupied by the same character?

What a lovely question, more than happy to clear the air about this because it is important!

I have two roster slots dedicated by Motoko Kusanagi from the Ghost in the Shell franchise: one that loosely adheres to the upcoming 2026 adaptation, and one that loosely adheres to the iconic 2002 Stand Alone Complex adaptation.

Whats the difference? You didn't ask but I'll share anyways!!!

With the 2026 adaptation, it leans more into the original portrayal envisioned by Masamune Shirow from 1995 — wherein Major is boisterous, colorful, and promiscuous in comparison to the more methodical, reserved, philosophy driven portrayal from the 2002 adaptation!

Both are amazing!

I have both interpretations on my blog so that anyone who wants to interact with Major has options; both are different enough characters to me that I felt 2 roster slots was warranted.

So if you want more zany, over the top, shippy, NSFW, or rowdy threads? 2026 version is who I'd use in threads with you! She will be written in blue.

If you want more deep, thought provoking, slow-burn, gritty threads? 2002 version is what I'd use in threads with you. She will be written in purple.

If its easier when you wanna send in memes? You can just put Blue Major for 2026 version or Purple Major for 2002 version, I'll know what you mean!

I plan to tap into the 2002 adaptation over the next couple weeks for a refresher, and the 2026 adaptation isn't out until next month so I got time to do my homework; rest assured! There will be a version of Motoko that suits your writing desires!

If there was a singular lesson that the portal-kickin' brawler named America Chavez could take to the bank?

Life never quite ever plays out in the manner you expect nor hope it to...

...the first instance of that lesson? Being a stranded thirteen year old seeking refuge in an alternate universe; having to carve your own path, make new friends, find yourself... basically start everything you thought you knew over again.

The second instance? The disbanding of the Young Avengers: a motley crew of the next generation's heroes brought together like they were some sort of direct-to-dvd sequel to The Breakfast Club.

Don't be mistaken, though, the gang certainly had themselves a good few years of a run... but all good things must come to an end; even the flames of unspoken chemistry with a certain archer dwindling to but dormant embers.

That was... what? Three years ago or something? Honestly, the hustle and bustle that came of being twenty-three made it really difficult to keep count of it all — but that didn't mean America didn't remember the good times they shared, nor did she not think about that one teammate more than she'd probably admit.

Who had time to reminisce? Certainly not she, far too occupied waiting outside of Dulcie's in her evening finest; waiting for a date that honestly? Was probably not going to come... if the past thirty minutes over their designated meet-up time was anything to go by.

Who the hell would stand her up anyway? After she spent time girlifying herself and had to deal with a cabbie with a staring problem? She was about ready to turn heel, cut her losses, and head back to her apartment...

...then she laid eyes on @fianchettoed.

❝ Kate?! ❞ there's surprise in her voice, followed by a faint rush of heat to her face as she sees just how dolled up the archer is too, Sigue siendo la chica más guapa de Nueva York…
