[INTERVIEW] 130325 RiSe Would Still Like to Hold Hands with David Oh Again
One of MBCâs previous contestants off of their talent show âBirth of a Great Starâ, Kwon Rise, is now a member of the girl group Ladiesâ Code. Similarly, because of MBCâs show, Ladiesâ Code has also been nicknamed as âKwon Riseâs Group.â Rise herself has felt pressure, but she also said, âIâm happy to be the doorway for the groupâs recognition. If the reason that people become interested in Ladiesâ Code is because of me, and then they also experience the membersâ charms afterwards, itâs not a bad thing either. They have the charms that I donât have, which is where the beauty of our group lays.â
âBirth of a Great Starâ is the show that helped mold Rise into the idol singer that she is today. From meeting with Lee Eun Mi sunbae on âBirth of a Great Starâ to being a part of Ladiesâ Code today and meeting people after debuting, RiSe says that all of these people are precious to her. She expressed, âBefore I debuted, I called Lee Eun Mi to tell her that I was going to debut. I also asked her how she was doing, and she gave me a lot of support and encouragement, so Iâm very grateful to all that she has done. After debuting, I donât have a cellphone so I havenât been able to communicate with her, but I want to contact her quickly.â
She went on to say, âOther than me, Miso who was also on âBirth of a Great Starâ with me debuted as a member of Glam, and I met her during one of our stages which made me very happy. Because people are more familiar with me, when we go to the broadcast stations people greet me and take care of me as well. And also because Iâm still a rookie, I donât expect for a lot of people to recognize me, so whenever I am, I feel moved.â
Rise also appeared as a couple with fellow âBirth of a Great Starâ contestant David Oh on MBCâs âWe Got Marriedâ variety show in June of 2011. The two received a lot of attention, but announced that they would be leaving the show after 3 months, leaving many fans saddened at their departure. Rise herself also said that she left behind many regrets.
She said, âNow that I look back on it, there are many regrets. If I still have the opportunity to do so, I would like to do it again. At that time it was my first time doing a variety show, even more so when I became from an average person to an entertainer, so I had no idea what I had to do. Iâve learned to communicate better now, and I know what to do in order to perform better.â
If there is a chance, who would she choose as her âhusbandâ? To this question, she laughed and said, âLetâs get re-married, of course I would want to do it with David again. If I canât, then it doesnât matter who as long as we can connect with each other and he has a sense of humor. I saw Kwanghee (from ZE:A) and I think that heâs really fun.â
Throughout the whole interview, Rise answered the questions with a warm voice and an unwavering smile. Wrapping up the interview, Rise finished with, âI still have one more thing to say, something that I really want to tell everyone. A lot of people think that I am Japanese, but I am actually Korean. The reason I debuted in Korea was so that people could acknowledge me as Korean, and also to spread Korean culture in Japan.â
(T/N: For those of you that donât know, RiSe is 4th generation Korean that lived in Japan.)
