I'm a massive fan of the digital and tech revolution. Not just the gadgets and gear side of things - although as a photographer and musician, digital has been amazing - but from what you can do with it lifestyle wise. Since being laid off in my late 40's I've fully embraced the digital economy too with an online business that has allowed me to live where I want, work when and where I want and basically to be very happy and largely worry free. I've been lucky to meet some amazing people along the way - mentors, other entrepreneurs and just plain extraordinary people. I want to share whats possible in this brave new world for anyone but particularly for us baby boomers if we just get the skills and go for it.

I use a DJI gimbal smartphone stabiliser and a great little autocue app called teleprompter. This is ideal for shooting nice stable videos while sticking to a script. It really is time to choose which one to go with We have the old, traditional economy - bricks and mortar businesses, shops, offices - face to face transactions. The last two years have shown us (again) how fragile all that can be in the face of a crisis But we see that every ten years or so like clockwork with that economy. Recession after recession, redundancies, closures, inflation and tax rises The last one back in 2008-2010 cost me my career and this one pretty much wiped out the industry I used to be part of - the live events industry But the other economy - the digital economy (basically the internet) is thriving Its actually grown 10 times faster in the last two years than it would have without the covid 19 crisis You can’t see that economy as you walk the streets or out in the country but its going on all around you 24/7/365 It’s immune to disease and recession and is unstoppable - like a freight train Millions of transactions are flowing through cables and wireless signals. They are being done on home and office computers and on smartphones and tablets by people sat on trains, lying in bed or sitting on a beach. It’s amazing - science fiction turned science fact and if you learn how to do leverage it properly you can create the kind of lifestyle you could only have dreamt of 20 years ago. Because with an internet based business much of the work can be automated. Someone in Hong Kong or France clicks on an image and someone in Scotland earns some money - even if they are asleep, on holiday or as happened to me recently, at a funeral. Its not a scam or a fancy trick or a secret code - just a process that has been set up to link buyers to sellers via the world wide web. The process doesn’t recognise geographic or time barriers and can deal with an infinite number of transactions. I’ve been earning my income online from home for close to seven years now.
