Magazine.

The above selection of photographs are  taken from the other images I captured on a compact digital camera. 

This was plan B to my second magazine spread. Again I wanted to create  more of a high quality visual image for the spread as I did with my previous article “putting your best foot forward”.

Also, I wanted to create my own stars and make my own galaxies. I felt that this approach suited the article. As its more of a play on words with the association of gazing to the midnight sky, full of stars possibly being the top thought of most people.  

Gazing

‘look steadily and intently, especially in admiration, surprise, or thought’: 

I shall develop my images further into Photoshop to make my idea, making it more visually appealing and to complement the chosen layout from my thumbnail drawings.

Dancing Light. 

The above was an idea that I got from attending one of my lectures . Mo was showing his class about the movement that travelling light can make. He had various light up tools to help him demonstrate his ideas. With class participation of taking photographs and experimenting with tools provided. 

From this lesson I took the opportunity to use the tools I had selected for my second magazine cover QuaQua.  The above photographs were taken at home on my HTC mobile phone with the help of my son.  White, blue and green fibre optic lights were used in these photographic creations.

Mother hens Starbuck cup from Bangkok

Tea. 

Above are pictures taken of my Moms recent purchase on her many travels around the world.  As you can see it is a large mug from Starbucks in Bangkok.  

It came in a standard square box with three sides being used to advertise Star-bucks product with each side being slightly different as you can see with only the size and placement of the logo and company name. 

What captured my attention was the idea of showing a particular part of Bangkok through the rotation of the mug, as well as advertising  the Starbucks logo without  leaving a dull side. The image is embossed into the clay giving the mug texture, as well as a visual simulation. 

As you can see the accent of colour is added to areas around the mug depicting landmarks. I like how this brings more character to the mug itself and is another way of capturing attention visually.  

A small pallet of colour is used as a whole predominantly white being the background colour to the red and  green. The colour Black is shown as the skyline colour with a landmark being in gold.  I think the amount of colour is just right not to overpower and be in your face but kept simple and neat.  

You will notice that their info-graphic map is again a simple colour scheme and a simple number to location layout.

Today I did a stop frame animation using a Lumix T272 camera in two locations in my college and produced a few different sequences of movement to create a 24 frame video. 

 I used my sons mine craft characters to create my video clip as shown above. The second picture is a still a shot  taken from my rendered video. which I shall edit out and refine in next lesson.

Two page magazine spread. 

These are a few examples  of the photographs taken from my recent photo-shoot. I have chosen these three images for my two page spread out, along side the previous image posted previously. I feel they best suited my tone of the final magazine spread. I've converted them into black and white images and slightly retouched them in Photoshop more refining shale be done to the images as i create the design for my layout using in des

Magazine

This was produced using a bowens light, with a  beauty dish with honeycomb and then a big silver reflector so that the light was focusing on the legs and the shoes, taken at Walsall College. On this I had 2 different outfits, using a classic LBD with long sleeves and then a more contemporary outfit to show using texture using the fabric pattern. We had images in both outfits in various poses to see what would be more successful. We also took images off the shiny shoes and the velvet shoes with no feet in situ to show texture and fabric, through experimentation.

Magazine

This is for the 2 page magazine spread and I’ve chosen the article ‘Best Foot Forward’. I was looking at focusing on the shoes and the legs.I am going to concentrate on it being black and white and classy, focusing on the heels to give it that authentic 40s/50s kind of feel. I will experiment through the photography just showing a part of the shoe as these elements are easily recognisable to a woman especially - such as just the heel or the instep.

I am looking at the illustrator, Hayden Williams, whom I am following anyway through various sites. I am looking at fashion design/illustration for the 4 stamps using recognisable fashion design people but in an illustrative style so that you can recognise the faces. The clothing styles that I will draw them in will be what the iconic fashion designers are most known for. The typography may reflect something similar to ‘Vogue’ but using their individual names either singular or repeated.

p>Here are examples of my research for my personal identity logo. 

Because i have simplified my design from the original idea, which was to use a lion’s face, because my name is Leonie and this is derived  from the feminist form of the word ‘lion’. I then changed the design to simplify it and concentrate on using my own image with my hair style as a ‘lion’s mane’, but I wanted to add texture and volume. When I tried it with colour, based on some photographic images I found, it was too complicated and busy. So now I am looking at using some form of collage or decoupage as a treatment and will see how this works.

snow. 

Snow flake photography captures the beauty of each snow flake. No two snow flakes are alike, but are perfectly symmetrical  in shape.

 I find it extremely fascinating that nature yet again can create such delicate objects, and they are able to be captured on film showing the beauty of nature. 

I want to try and create this with my design, as I'm trying to create a product that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. possibly to be done with water colours , coloured pens with possible fine tuning on Photoshop.

Snow

Above are a variety of examples of my research I  have been conducting regarding my design ideas. 

I have looked at stylised, Art Deco and Retro designs, each style has its own individual looks but still are very similar in appearance.

I like the stylised snow flakes with the introduction of colours added to them creating a warmer tone to what is known as a cold object. The Art Deco jewellery is appealing to me with its beauty and elegance.  The Retro snowflakes are not so appealing to me as they are really static in appearance although the black Retro design on the bottom right has some qualities I like with the more intricate detail. 

These also remind me of the Spirograph toy I used as a child which created similar patterns as  using a compass would do. 

I need to explore more design ideas before I finalise my snow flakes using some of the influences from the examples above.

Snow.

Here you will see where my second inspiration came from for my idea for my current project. 

On a previous post I have posted pictures of another alcoholic drink called Smirnoff Gold which consisted of gold flakes within the drink itself. 

Which led me to research into this deeper finding this beverage called Goldschlager which originated in Switzerland and produced their till the 1900s.  

A cinnamon schnapps with 24 carat gold leaf, I found varied amounts that the drink contains approximately 13mg per 1 litre bottle. 

From my first look at the bottle, I assumed it would be expensive to purchase. This being down to the richness of the design with the use of the colour gold combined with the  gold flakes. Also paying more for less came to my mind due to how simple the design is and how the small sized bottle works.
