New Year: 2016 (so far..)

With the new year comes “New Year’s Resolution.” I’m sure everyone makes at least one resolution for the new year, and I am no different. My New Year’s resolution is to go to the gym more often and eat healthier. So far I am not meeting either of the resolutions. I haven’t gone to the gym since the new year has begun, and I haven’t exactly ate any healthier. I kind of blame the unexpected snow that Portland has received on Sunday though (although that’s not much of an excuse lol).

So it snowed on Sunday and we received about an inch of snow; if not a little more. I called into work letting my coworkers know that I wouldn’t be able to come in. You’re all probably thinking that I overreacted a bit huh? But the thing is I drive an old car, and it sits pretty low onto the ground. On top of that I live in an agriculture/city area. In this area, we receive a bit more snow than in the city and not a lot of people drive on the streets around my house. And lastly, there is no public transportation within a mile radius. I concluded that the best bet would be to stay home instead of risking myself and others for a few hours at work.

Whew~ what a long post. So that’s been my week so far since my last update. Only thing I didn’t touch up on was my New Years Eve and New Years. I didn’t really do anything. I worked a bit on NYE and then came home and watched the New York Ball drop in Time Square on TV with the fam. That’s pretty much it.

So a friend of mine shared this image on Facebook. I’m tempted to try it for the coming new year, but at the same time I don’t know how realistic it is (since I usually break new years resolutions pretty quickly). Someone in the comment section said to do it backwards; so that you start with putting more money away first and then towards the end you put less money away. For example: Week 1 - Put away $52.00, Week 2 - Put away $51.00, etc. I think I may do that instead.

But another concern I have is that I may end up spending the money, hence I won’t have any more to put away into my savings.. Reality check. But I guess I can give it a try anyway, since it won’t effect me negatively.

So here’s my question, have any of you guys tried saving money in a similar way to this? Did it work? or did you fail miserably?

My First Post

My first post happens to be on Christmas; which is fine. Christmas is almost over, in about 15 minutes, as I’m writing this entry. I’m all over the place with this entry, but it’s whatever I guess since I’m trying to better my writing skills. 

I will go into how I spent my Christmas Eve and Christmas. My boyfriend and I rented a hotel on the shore of the beach. It was a short stay, 2 days and 1 night, but it wasn’t quite 2 whole days; hence the ‘short’ stay. It was relaxing since there was a hot tub in the room; pretty fancy huh. But the tub was quite small since I had to kind of squish in next to him, overall it was nice but I probably wouldn’t go back to that hotel. 

We later went to the casino that night on Christmas Eve. I lost $20 while my boyfriend lost $40 I think. We’re not huge on gambling so we didn’t play with too much money. I mainly played on the slots while the boyfriend played at the roulette table. Surprisingly he won with a bet on a number I picked (Black 15). We ended the night with going back to the hotel to open each others gifts. Funny thing: We both got each other jackets from Nike; only difference was that mine was Jordan Brand ;)  

TL;DR: My first post is about how I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my boyfriend.
