Sights of a Gardener
Posting again.
It’s been months since my last post. I’m coming to the realization that having a blog isn’t for anyone, it’s for me. My life is nowhere near perfect or ideal or by any means encouraging but it’s all I’ve got. My life has overall improved recently. I’ve enrolled and completed a Pima Medical Institue course, Phlebotomy Technician. I’m basically a vampire, a vamp looking for a job so hiring managers…

mother of a club foot child
mother of a club foot child
At birth my doctors found out that my son has been affected with club foot, on his right side. Because of the medical treatment I got in the early months of of my pregnancy at the IHS hospital in Phoenix, AZ , I was only able to get two ultrasounds my entire pregnancy.
Sometimes if baby is positioned in the right way then clubfoot can be identified in utero, other cases like my sons it can’t be…

The more I look into the effect that each person has on the earth the more I notice commonalities in the habits that we are all making. If you are a person with at least halfway decent personal hygiene then you would at least have soap and toothpaste. And for those that pride themselves on their hygiene rituals then you have much more in your arsenal. But after plenty of research, I’ve learned…

why start this blog?
why start this blog?
This blog, for now, is a way for me to move on from my past by talking about it and making what I’ve been through more real. By making it real I believe I can ground my memories in the past so that I can focus on the future of myself and my son.
I still have aspirations and goals. By writing about it, it’ll help me get back there. I want to go back to being a University of Arizona student, online…

Isn’t this throw gorgeous?
The pattern is available for sale on Ravelry and if I had the yarn, I’d start making one right away.
From the pattern description of Textured Landscape Throw by Helen Gipson:
Not the usual sampler throw with its asymmetric arrangement of different sized pattern ‘blocks’ giving it an informal charm.
Each stitch pattern, mainly but not all cables, has full written instructions and is charted.
Made in 5 sections which only require vertical seams, and separate seamed borders. Smaller throws can be made by choosing which adjacent sections to make - the centre three sections will create an approximately 40” square throw.
Gauge is not critical as long as each section can be blocked to the same height and a consistent width so using wool or yarn with a high wool content is recommended.
The sample was made using 7 colours (cream and 2 shades each of pale brown, grey and dark brown) but could be made in just 4 colours by using single shades. Alternatively, it could be a really colourful stash buster. A blank layout and yarn estimates for each block/border is provided on the last page for those of you who want to try out your own colour schemes.
