jessalyn and sage are inspired by two characters from lj smith’s tvd books. they bear the same names but their backgrounds are completely different. since there’s barely any canon info to go by when it comes to these two, i decided to build from (almost) scratch. the only thing that doesn’t change is that Sage is still very much the devil/satan/lucifer’s son and that he’s an angel turned vampire. i also have my own lore regarding the dark dimension and the vampires that lives there, which i call hellions since, in my version, they were created in hell. in the books, it is presumed by everyone else that sage turned jessalyn because they were lovers but it’s never been confirmed and they are also never seen interacting at all. my headcanon is that sage turned her to protect her from the angels as well as the demons because she is his child and there’s a prophecy about her.

DAMON. That name felt familiar in some way but why? Oh! She’d heard Sage talk about a Damon. Could that be—— No. It’d be too much of a coincidence. How many chances did she have of stumbling upon one of her sire’s friends on Earth, even less in PARIS of all places while last she’d heard that one friend of his was supposed to be stationed in the picturesque town of FELL’S CHURCH, Virgina, where he was pining over a pretty blonde? No. That couldn’t be him. Sage called him his ANGEL but he looked nothing like such. Well, to be fair, Sage had also called him a LITTLE TYRANT in the same sentence. That was all Sage. In her sire’s mind, there was such a fine line between love and hate. Jessalyn didn’t agree but there were many things they didn’t agree on. She still didn’t know what the hell Sage expected from her. He obviously didn’t want her as a lover (even though everyone around them assumed so and Sage didn’t bother to deny all the rumors), so why turn her in the first place? For fun? Ugh, so many questions and so few answers.

As always, her face was telling too much. Her hazel eyes with flecks of EMERALD had gone wide as the pieces in her mind were coming together. Even if she had pretended she didn’t know of Damon, he would’ve been able to tell she was lying. She hasn’t been a vampire for more than a few months. Hell! Three months ago she had no idea the SUPERNATURAL WORLD even existed, and now she was part of it and had a kingdom to tend to! She couldn’t pretend not to know of him. No, she couldn’t. Because if he was who she thought he was, if he truly was that PRINCE OF DARKNESS she’d heard of by the Great Sage himself, he would have seen right through her anyway. All that was left to do was smile, which she did. She SMILED in a way that let him know she’d heard of that name before and of the feats attached to it, even though some of them sent shivers down her spine. ❝ Pleasure meeting you, Damon. ❞ She paused, took a sip of her drink and then sat it down carefully on the table before her eyes met his gaze once again. ❝ I’m Jessalyn. What brings you to this corner of the world ? ❞ Paris was quite far from American territory and she was genuinely curious and SUSPICIOUS of the Salvatore.

The dhampir girl looked the man up and down, narrowing her dark brown eyes. He was very well dressed, way too well to be honest, for a casual walk around the courtyard. ❝May, may what a curious sight my eyes spy.❞ She reached up on her tip toes looking over his shoulders. ❝Soo, which of those devil's spawn is yours? Or are you still counting yourself as one with these shimmers and ruffles and over the top glasses? You did notice the sun is long pass the horizon, sunshine? Or you are scared the moonlight will overshine your bright personality?❞ Rose asked with a mischievous smile. The man seemed suspicious to her, but it did not stop her from making her casual sarcastic comments.

sage blinks behind his shades. he wasn’t used to the d-word being thrown around in such a casual manner. no one would speak his father’s name where he was from, even less call him the devil. his father was always mentioned by ominous titles such as the darkest father or king of hell.

once the shock has passed, his lips curl into a smile. ❛ none of them are actual devil’s spawn. ❜ i should know, i’m one of them, he adds for himself. his child was no where near evil. and he didn’t consider setting fire to an office a sin either, especially if the man raising the kid and owner of said office was being an absolute jerk for no reason other than them being born this way. ❛ the redhead. ❜ he answers, at last, without bothering to justify his shades. his smile was sad now as he turned to look the kid’s way. damon tarus’ firstborn, allegedly. the man didn’t deserve that child. the jerk didn’t even deserved his own child (secondborn). and he certainly didn’t deserve his wife.

sage had been staring at @donebowing from the other end of the table, a glass of blood-laced wine in hand, with that burning question on his lips. ❛ how do you manage to style your hair so flawlessly if you cannot see your reflection ? ❜ there. he'd said it. sage himself could spend hours gazing at his image in the looking glass and making sure he was flawless in every way, especially his hair, so he couldn't imagine how the hell astarion managed that feat without seeing his reflection at all.

sage gets personally offended when people want him to show his wings to prove he is indeed an angel because he doesn’t have them anymore and therefore doesn’t have anything to show. it bothers him that people think wings are what makes an angel an angel.

sage doesn’t actually bite anyone when he drinks from humans because he knows the venom from his bite can become addictive to them. he tends to reserve the bite for intimate contexts where blood sharing is involved and only with his supernatural partners because their systems is built to quickly eliminate toxin.

i’m proposing a verse where sage is in hiding in the human world and i offer him to you as an odd flatmate. who’s in?? 👀

sage used to answer to his father but he does not anymore. he’s on his own side. he loves the world and has no interest in picking a side. heaven and hell are both rotten to their core in his opinion. you can’t really blame him for hating on angels, especially when a bunch of them tried to murder him as a baby, can you?

he does, however, welcome demons and angels alike in his realm, offering them shelter if needed, provided they turn their backs on their respective organizations and choose neutrality as the fragile armistice established between hell and the dark dimension (nearly 10 years ago) relies solely on an agreement promising the dark dimension will not interfere in celestial or infernal matters and shall remain neutral in the big war to come.
