This is another sideblog of @strix1213, but I'll repeat some necessary information below.

I am 22, transmasc, therian. If that's not your vibe then you're not mine either, have a good day.

This blog and any connected sideblogs are 20+ to interact. This is my boundary and makes it easier for me to weed through my interactions.

DNI: Minors, bigots/assholes/pricks, and for this blog specifically, anyone who cannot handle gore and/or horror, I will not be spoilering or censoring this blog, it is on you to determine what you can handle (I'll repeat this later to be safe)

I love worldbuilding and creating creatures, so this blog is for that. Some will have artwork, some will not, many will have names in latin, some will not, and a few may have english titles but that is a rare occurrence.

#drerengia - This is for an ocean world, where there are a mix of islands, some floating/unattached, some are stationary, and all of the life is adapted to handle the water. People are stuck on this world, and cannot leave. They are primarily rich, and have their families. There may also be #future of drerengia for creatures set in a timeline wherein humans have existed for quite some time on the world.

#cyrannoa - A forested world with similar climate to some of Earths terrain. It has 2 sentient species, one based off olms, and another based on fruit bats. Humans have intentionally visited this world on wildlife expeditions.

#aorrengai - A world so detached from reality it doesn't even see the sun, constantly blocked out by Cyrannoa, which it orbits much like a moon. It has no sentient species, and the life here is not meant to see, yet many are forced to grow eyes regardless.

I call those 3 my hellworlds, I try to make my creatures fit into one of the 3, however sometimes that doesn't work and then I won't tag with a world for them.

If you wish to write stories for this, I intend to keep my DM's and Ask Box open for use. You may also suggest creature features you would like to see more of, I'm always taking suggestions.

Again, if you can't handle gore, blood, creepy crawlies, large animals, deep sea, the dark, many eyes or many holes, forcibly and irreparably changed anatomy, violence, harm of very fictional children (not kidding I pull names out my ass) by wild animals, harm to rich folks, women and men alike, then please know that this is not the blog for you and you should move on. A recluse witch who comes down from her cabin by foot every day, visiting the village and treating the local people and pets. Everyone knows her both as the healer and as a widow. Each time her widowing is brought up, it garners sympathy from the people, leading them to try offering her comfort in warm meals or time spent with their families. She never takes them up on it, just calmly walking back home alone, where her cliffside cabin sits tucked away, above the clouds and amongst the trees outside the village.

In her home, where no one goes but her and her pets, that sweet and caring facade is left behind. Her magic is like a mold, settling on everything like thick sheets growing on decaying carcasses, and flowing off her body like fungal spores looking for a host. Her home looks beautiful from the right distance, but up close it becomes clearer with every step that this place is more like a prison. Her pets vary in species, from rats to cats, foxes to domestic dogs, even a stunted dragon... but they all have something in common, they are under her spell. (TW for animal abuse under the cut)

Her magic strips beings of their intellect, making even the smartest of creatures become dumber than your average cinderblock. Her pets bumble around, struggling to tell right from left, up from down, food from poison. Simple things like finding their food and water are impossible without direct help, causing many of them to be stunted, malformed, malnourished, and/or severely underweight.

As you're crouched down, petting them to offer comfort and trying to lead them to food, you feel her spell, that thick mold like coating that threatens to stick to you worse than any infection. The creaky wooden door opens behind you, out coming a hand, thankfully connected to an arm...

Two humans walk out, one on all fours, much the same as a dog, no sign of intelligence in this human male. The second is her, with mid tone brown hair and a faded blue dress that one of the villagers had gifted. She crouches in front of you, knowing you were sent here for the pets and to kill her, and she holds your face in her hands. Her magic is so suffocating you cannot breathe in her presence, nor can you resist her twisting your body with it, forcing you into a full transformation more brutal and quick than you've every had the severe displeasure of dealing with. It lasts a minute, but it feels like an eternity as your skin and muscles rip themselves apart, bones snapping and dislocating while also growing faster than the rest of your body can keep up with. She sits there through it all, looking at you like a new pet, that same loveless, soulless look.

She tells you to fight back as she stands up, and you try to get up and follow her, but your body collapses. She grabs a chain from within her home, whipping it around with calculated precision... at first all that is on the end is a piece of cloth and a rigid metal collar, but then it makes a loud clinking noise, and on the end of that collar, is now one of her pets, bearing human level intelligence and none of the capability to fight back, only able to comprehend the absolute terror they now feel as they become part of their masters weapon.

A family of invertebrates, ranging widely in size, but having one thing in common... their long legs.

The only common name referring to them is "Galloping centipedes", although they bear no relation to earthen centipedes.

There are 2 genera in the family, one which is carnivorous ambush predators, and the other which are small scavengers. The former are generally larger in size compared to the majority of the scavengers, and this genus is only made up of a few select species. The latter genus are mostly tiny, and have a slightly more diverse number of species.

The predatory centipedes primarily use their fast movement in the same way that cheetahs do. They take their prey with quick bursts of speed before having long periods of rest.

The scavengers though, use their galloping to either scare away aggressors, or to escape. Many of them appear similar to their predatory cousins, although lacking the force to defend themselves, making any charges towards predators simply a bluff.

Some color patterns marked by these creatures are bright legs and antennae, with the exception of one.

One of these quick invertebrates towers over the rest in a literal sense, its legs colored to mimic tree bark, and with a final segment just long enough to appear like a young tree. Upon being spotted, this tree mimic will first freeze (like a deer), and only if in further danger, will break into a full sprint of just over 65 kph. The tree mimic only eats seeds, small branches, and dying leaves from standing trees.

Walking along the sandy desert surface, thinking you're safe from everything except the unforgiving sun.

The air is relatively calm despite being a desert, not a sandstorm or cyclone in sight. No surface animals bother you, all of them keeping themselves buried.

Then, the ground begins to rumble... by comparison to the sand beneath your feet, the suns rays might as well feel like a cool autumn day.

The rumbling quickly grows, the sand within several meters of you all looks like quicksand, until it turns to molten glass and coats your skin. You don't have time to process the blisters, peeling, and pain, as a massive maw erupts from the ground below, shutting out all daylight and silencing any screams you may let rip. The world turns to black as you're pulled down a throat with ridges and papillae rough enough to catch and pull on your skin.

You had hoped, in vain, that you would go quickly... now you'll be ripped apart slowly while trapped inside a giant worm-like creature.

Gonna leave this one as open ended as I can, but first we need a ton of context. Okay? Okay! Reblog after reading on any non-horny blog and I'll read it.

You were put on a random crew to go find the remains of the 8267R and retrieve the blackbox. Every other crew sent to rescue them has lost contact with home base shortly after getting within orbit of the planet the wreck is suspected of being on. Yours finally breaks that streak, maintaining contact the whole way there.

In front of you is an eyeball planet that appears shades of red and black with the "eye" pointing downwards. Receiving the order to land on this planet, your crew begins gently guiding your smaller ship towards the planet. The clouds covering it are thick, and likely not made of just water, and there are trees as far as the human eye can see.

Managing to find a small clearing in one of the darker sections of the planet, away from where the sunlight reaches, the ship lands safely. You're less than a mile away from where the wreckage supposedly is, and all your instructions tell you to keep your eyes upward. Previous unmanned missions failed after a couple hours, but managed to show that the majority of the wreck is still hung in the trees.

Your crew is four people, two pilots, and two scouts. You're in the scouting crew, i.e. you're one of two people who gets to go on a glorified land vehicle in a world with almost no light.

Here's where I leave it off. I'll put further information about the world under this cut so you can decide exactly how you want to navigate this. I hope you have fun, and heads up, there is a lot below this.

This world is Aorrengai. It is a sparsely populated eyeball planet, where the only sunlight is at the southernmost tip of the world. It is tidally locked to a larger planet called Cyrannoa (Aorrengai is about the size Callisto or Ganymede).

Ship 8267R was meant to rescue an expedition crew sent to Cyrannoa after 1 earth year without contact from any personnel. Several issues had arisen after the ships departure, causing it to split into 2 large pieces. The blackbox mentioned here would have collected information on the failures and disaster that occurred from the ships perspective.

The main crash site is the rear half of the ship, with the cockpit and remainder of the front half being lost elsewhere.

The rear half sits upon 4 to 5 trees which are all structurally weakened due to mass long term stress. This crash sits at a 45° angle with the front portion sitting significantly lower than the back thrusters, and the whole thing is rolled 60° left. It shows clear signs of where the crew escaped the ship, with a massive fire escape ladder still hanging down even now.

The front half of the ship is nearly 100 meters away from the rear half, and sitting lower to the ground, although still stuck crashed into some trees. The cockpit is entirely caved in, though it shows no signs of death inside, meaning this crash likely happened while the systems autopilot was engaged and unsupervised.

Because the crash in the scene here is over a year old, it is no longer flaming or sparking. Fungi have begin to grow on the hull, turning what was white, now into blackened growths with red spots (closer inspection reveals glowing red eyes with a hollow stare). Trees and animals also bear these red eyes all over, though not ever animal has them. Naturally, animals have no eyes, just smooth fur, scales, or skin.

The world has a distinct lack of most flying animals, really only having 2 native ones. One is a smooth, translucent blue creature that floats like a blimp and vaguely looks like a mitochondria, although with more squiggly bits. The other is a long creature, built like a centipede but moving like a brittle or feather star. The latter is an opportunistic predator that frequently drops onto its prey with high success rates.

Other animals are mostly herbivorous, but anything other than harmless. Next to no true bugs or fish anywhere near the landing site. Carnivores include a stocky hairless quadruped with a false head hanging just above its true head, and the aforementioned feather-star like creature.

Land vehicles given here are similar to lightweight motorcycles. They're capable of being carried by anyone who can lift roughly 30 lbs or 13.6 kilograms. The light weight comes at the cost of quality and durability, as well as fuel efficiency (although they are electric, so they can make it the distance from the crash and back, just only that distance. Any venture beyond there is leaving you stranded.)

The world is densely forested and full of old growth trees most resembling sequoia, cedar, and redwood. The ground is bumpy with roots everywhere. Given the inability to see without lights due to the lack of sunlight, this can make traversing and finding one's way very difficult.

Large invertebrates, bodies anywhere from 30 to 45 centimeters from the front of the face to the end of the body, antennae not included. Typically brown or black in coloration, with only slight range. Their legs are nearly as long as their body, with 2 legs per segment, hence their common name referring to Earth's centipedes. Their locomotion is odd for an invertebrate, as they propel themselves in such a way that much of their body leaves the ground at once before touching down and propelling themselves further. Observation suggests that this oddly unique trait evolved not to catch prey, but so they don't become prey themselves.

They do possess a venom, but it is weak, not even strong enough to kill the smallest furred or scaled animals in their region. Instead, they rely on very powerful jaws with catching prey. Some observations have found that they occasionally miss striking prey near trees or walls, hitting the surface beside their prey. Deep marks have been found, left behind not by the collision, but by the motion of their mandibles snapping shut.

Your mother always told you stories of local creatures that were just out of sight, some benevolent, some not.

One of your favorites was a small, four legged creature. Its hind legs were long, with strong muscles and big feet, while its front legs were more dainty, with small feet. Its body was covered in stripes that glowed faintly so even you could see them in the night. Its entire body was covered in stripes, which your mother said it used to make sure you're following. Her favorite part were its wings, which allowed it to fly alongside you.

She said it would lead the lost back home, and praises the creature for bringing back your father when he went missing some time ago.

You always say you want to see it, to meet the creature that saved your father, but you're told time and time again that they're only seen when they let you see them.

Think of a species that looks just like you... they stand upright like you, they perfectly mimic your language, they even grow mushrooms like you do! Oh and look, they have pets!

But, when you look closer... they're taller, fur a little darker, their eyes aren't quite right... the last place you saw one of your young was near one of their pets, and when you came back, she was nowhere to be found, but the pet seemed content.

Those mushrooms they grow, you've never seen them, you're starting to wonder if that part was a lie... until you look down and see something growing in the trees under your home.

Context below.

This is Maestus deorsum, their pet is Fugae Terrore cacumina.

The former is a bat-like species that feasts upon another bat species on Cyrannoa, Fugure pomus.

M. deorsum has black fur, with brown spots closer to their snouts to mimic the eye placement of F. pomus. They are also diurnal, compared to F. pomus being completely nocturnal.

They do grow mushrooms, however they're massive, fast growing, and able to be stood on and rested in, appearing as similar to morels with a texture closer to tougher mushrooms like wood ears.

F.T. cacumina is a massive avian with characteristics in part borrowed from Azhdarchids like Hatzegopteryx and Quetzalcoatlus, in addition to modern birds (birds of prey and pelicans). They hang upside down from trees, have long prehensile tails (used for grabbing onto trees and navigating betwixt trees), their mouths are pitch black, they hunt in groups, cathermal (though leaning diurnal).

Together, M. deorsum and F.T. cacumina work to trap, hunt, and ultimately destroy entire villages of F. pomus.

You were stalking through the plains, dried grass reaching up to your head or higher. You can't see much, and definitely lost whoever you came here with.

Something starts coming towards you, too fast to be a person and the breathing isn't right... suddenly what looks like a massive fucked up cat leaps on top of you. It's teeth clamp down around your arm, pulling you under it.

Opening on its underside is a pouch, which it shoves you in. Before you really understand what just happened, it seals around you, locking you inside this dark pit within the creature.

All you can think as you're stuck in here is a simple, "What the actual fuck?"

Seven pups, taken from their mother while she was too exhausted to do anything about it. Raised as weapons, crude magic turned them from wolves to shifters.

Now they're trained to bring home more monsters, dead or alive doesn't matter, except when it comes to you. He wants you alive, since you're so rare.

Werewolves are common, even werebears are frequently spotted in these woods, but you... you're a werefox with a nearly pristine coat despite your treatment from the village.

He can't just let you be theirs, they don't even understand the half of what they have in their possession. He wants you with him, in his cells, kept like a trophy on display. The beast master will have you, one way or another.

A whole genus of creatures similar to centipedes, ranging in size from only a couple inches, all the way to being rideable.

The smaller ones try to resemble rocks, dirt, even dead leaves, while acting as ambush predators for the smallest of creatures.

The largest of them, which is really only one or two species, are active predators that chase down their prey by breaking into a full gallop. In a few cases, these ones have been raised by sentient creatures, such as humans, where the humans are treated like their young; cared for, groomed with the large mandibles, and taken everywhere. Typically grooming behavior is completely safe, with only 2 recorded incidents of entire heads being ripped off and/or eaten. It was later found that those incidents the pedes were hungry for too long and also extremely mistreated.

Take care of them, and they will take care of you, or else.

You've just made it to a new world, all you know is that there's animals here that will help you in the mines, and your job is to collect minerals.

After you've been here for months, you've grown cold and numb to the treatment of the animals. Whips are frequently used to get them in line when they get all snippy. The fact they're all sentient and highly intelligent is completely neglected, and nobody cares to learn their language.

You never whip them yourself unless their behavior is putting you in immediate danger, others are more relaxed about it though, doing it when the urge strikes them.

Today, you hear a bunch of whipping behind you, and the frantic movements and hushed noises from the animals. You go to quiet them and get them in line, but you stop when suddenly, all around you, is this rumbling that drowns out everything. The rumbling is followed by a sonic sound loud enough to rupture unprotected eardrums, and then a wave of heat hits everyone. The heat is intense, it feels like the air itself is burning your skin. Screams would fill the air, if only you could hear them. It only lasts two seconds, until the walls and ceiling of this cave passage turn to molten glass, the body of a massive worm pushing through easier than a hot knife through butter. Its gaping mouth takes with it your crew and their animals.

Your skin bubbles and burns with even the brief proximity to this massive beast, though with where it came in, you won't be getting medical attention, not soon, not ever... your one path to the exit having been blocked by its molten glass. You know you'll be alone, in pain, in the cold dark cave. The most you can do is scream and hope it comes back to take you with, since it seems to be attracted strictly to noise.

Tears and screams force their way out of you, coming out as pathetic, choked sobs until your throat hurts and chest burns. Your whole body wracked with pain from burns and now maybe strep throat. Any time the pain in your throat lessens, you scream again, loud as you can, but it never comes back.

So, I can't code for shit, so this isn't going to happen as a game, but perhaps maybe I'll flesh this out as a story.

I have a game/story idea for a newly transformed werefox. You're transformed by an attacker within your village that you do not see, and assume it is a werewolf because of the abundance of werecreatures around your home village.

Current name is "The Hound in the Barn" and it started as an idea my brain came up with when I couldn't sleep.

After your infection, the villagers trap you within a barn, where you are forced to wear silver chains that burn into your skin, and only released when they have tasks for you. The tasks? Monster killing of course, or fetch quests (Lost kids/pets).

Anyways, as a game this would have the option to pick between an amab or afab lead. As a story, i'll probably end up with a female lead.

The time period is something I'll need more research for but, aiming for around the time Catholicism was introduced to the Nordic countries.

I'll be posting these under the first tag on this post. Most of it is going to be information regarding beasties you're being sent to hunt down, but the other stuff is regarding the village and their treatment towards you.

okokokok so theyre called obscura and i havent fully fleshed out the designs n stuff for the species (mostly still figuring out the babies) but they look like this

this one in particular has some scarring on her muzzle, abdomen, and the apex of her horns, but other than that shes a fairly average member of her species

they are a cave-dwelling creature that lack eyes entirely and rely on super-sensitive smell and hearing. the ears are under their thick mane, which mimics foliage within the caves they live in. obscura are predatory animals, feeding on whatever they can find. in addition to eating meat, they have a symbiotic relationship with chemosynthesizing microbes. the glowing bulbs on their tails are signals for the microbes to find their way into the obscura's body through a semi-permeable membrane. the microbes themselves glow as well, and a healthy obscura should have luminescent blood. if its not glowing, something is very wrong with that individual

they live in small family units consisting of 2-5ish adults and all of their young. obscura are simultaneous hermaphrodites, and their courtship rituals involve penis-fencing similarly to flatworms to determine who sires the young. one pack of obscura will have one "sire," and the rest of the adults will be his harem. this dominance only plays out for reproductive purposes though; obscura are a sentient species, and a pack will collaboratively make decisions with each member having equal footing. the only exception to "everyone has equal power" is when a new obscura is attempting to join the pack. this individual, known as a suitor, will have incredibly low standing as they court the sire of the pack and attempt to earn favor with the rest of the packs members. this courtship process can take anywhere from a few hours to a few week depending on the size of the pack and how experienced the current sire is. if there are incompatibilities found, the suitor will leave. however if they last through the whole time period, the sire will mate with them using the same penis-fencing ritual to determine if the suitor becomes a new sire or not. in the event that a suitor takes over as a sire and other members of the pack have issue with this, they may challenge the new sire to the same ritual. sometimes if they win theyll just defer leadership back to the original sire because they preferred that dynamic

if a solo obscura whos not looking to join a pack intrudes on ones territory, fights do tend to break out. an obscuras mane helps keep their neck and throat safe from crushing bite wounds, and their horns can serve as useful weaponry during these scuffles. they have hooked claws that make it easier for them to navigate treacherous cave terrain, but they arent nimble enough to climb walls/cling to ceilings

if a pack currently has young, all adults will tend to them. They'll help feed them, teach them how to live, play with/entertain them, etc.. . Most of the time, obscura have no idea which adult is their "mom" cause it doesn't really matter, what matters is that they have like 5 parents and they love them very much. When an obscura reaches adulthood, they'll leave their pack to find a new one or establish territory of their own. If they take too long to leave, then the parents are like "I love you but ya gotta go" and kick em out. Sometimes the young may wander back if theyre sick/wounded/generally having a rough time, and their family will support them for a while, but dammit Jerry we're large predators in a cave, theres not enough resources to sustain everyone here GO

since they live in caves and it can be difficult to find enough food to sustain everyone, its not unheard of for an obscura to venture to the surface. they dont like being up there, its too noisy and the acoustics are different and its overall very disorienting, so they tend to do this solo to avoid confusing each other just by moving. the increased vulnerability they feel on the surface + their avoidance of going up there if possible means that an obscura on the surface is a desperate obscura
