I’M BACK!
As you can see, I’ve returned! :D I’m so sorry for the absence, I’ve been super busy. ;-;
Feel free to keep sending in questions (they’re actually really fun to answer!!!) and OC submissions so that we can bring this blog back to life!
What is your opinion on Irken OC's that prefer to wear more civilian-style clothing? I mean, not EVERY Irken is in the military, y'know!
I’m not completely opposed to it. I guess it depends on what you mean about “civilian-style.” What comes to mind for me is Irkens in tee-shirts and jeans, and I’m not really nuts about that, personally. While I’m sure that there are Irkens who might be unemployed who run around in casual clothes, what I think OC creators should keep in mind is that Irken culture is completely different from our own. It’s kinda’ unlikely that our casual clothes would be the same as their casual clothes. Where we might where a tee-shirt and jeans, they might wear a long tunic with pants and boots, maybe no gloves if they’re not working, something along those lines.
Honestly, the idea of Irken clothing is something that would be really interesting for someone to explore. Someone should jump on that! :D
What do you think about demon irkens?
Personally, I’m not fond of them, mainly because I’ve seen them done poorly so many times. While I’m sure that, with a bit of effort, the idea might be believable, the truth of the matter is that demons and the like never were mentioned in IZ.
Now, if you’re not worried about being super canon-accurate, than that’s not really a big deal, and even I am not as much of a stickler for canon as I used to be. The issue I have is that most “demon Irkens” that I’ve seen have been complete edge-lords, and the idea of them being a demon or part-demon seems like it was tacked on just for the sake of making them seem cool and edgy, a “special snowflake” if you’d prefer.
So, yeah, I really think it would be difficult for the idea to be done well. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but really unlikely.
My God
I’ve been so busy. ;-; I’m so sorry for the inactivity. Submissions are still open!
another oc from thotoh
her name is Aris
Gah, she’s really cool looking! I can’t say anything about her personality, since I don’t really know anything about it, but I have to say that her color scheme and design is really appealing to me! I love all over her tattoos and her different-looking eye shape. Not to mention that cool overcoat-like thing. Great job, thotoh!
you know who is a really cool OC? 10yrsy's Myk
I’m finding lots of pictures of Myk, but no information. So, unfortunately, I can’t say anything about him. :\
Hi, this is the anon that asked about a review. This is my newest OC, who I pretty much just made today. Although I don’t have much, I’d like a basic review of her overall personality/design.
Name: Hark Alias/es: Navigator Hark. Most other irkens refer to her as such. Gender: Female Age: ~150 in Earth years. About the same age as Zim/The Almighty Tallest. This is somewhat relative to her backstory. Race: Irken Height: 5'10, and (in my headcanon at least) about 7 inches shorter than the Tallest. Job/Assignment: One of the many navigators aboard the Massive, as her name suggests. History: Pretty normal for an irken. Born alongside thousands of other smeets in an underground nursery, Hark’s first few hours of existence went by smoothly, save for an incident involving a smeet transportation chute. Due to it being clogged by a -certain- (Read: Zim. This apparently was a thing mentioned in a cancelled episode) defective irken, also causing a devastating blackout that swept across Irk. Not only that, all the smeets trapped in the tube were stuck there for hours until their rescue. Spending so much time packed like a sardine with barely any room to breathe traumatized Hark somewhat, and is likely what led to her fear of crowds. After this incident, however, her life resumed as normal. Hark was assigned to be a navigator/technician, and due to extreme aptitude, was eventually hired to help pilot the Massive. Personality: Hark is a very analytical and logical irken, and she views most events and just life in general as one giant mathamatical equasion. Everything, she believes, has its fuction and place in the universe. Anything that contributes nothing, however, must be eliminated as an uneeded variable. Her structured way of thinking also has led her to loathe any sort of uncleanliness or mess, and as a result she has grown to somewhat hate the Tallest. This stems from the fact that the two leave one giant mess wherever they go, not to mention their somewhat disgusting method of eating. Their apparent lack of drive and laziness also causes her to dislike them. The main reason for her dislike is that whenever they’re in the same room as her, the Tallest always seem to get their mess “all over” her workspace. “All over” to Hark could mean as little as a single crumb or droplet of liquid, but no matter how small the mess, it never fails to set her nerves on edge. Because of this, she often keeps things like a duster next to where she works, despite the odd looks she gets from her colleagues. She honestly can’t work unless everything is exactly as she wants it. She has considered quitting her job several times, but ultimately decided that the honor of piloting the Massive was worth dealing with the disorder. Likes: Machines, math, astronomy, and order. Dislikes: Pretty much any race that isn’t Irken, the Tallest, disorder/uncleanliness, over-emotional people/irkens, and crowds.
This person submitted their OC to me for a fully-fledged review, but I can’t say that there was anything negative to say about Navigator Hark here! Her career is something not seen very often, her design is simple and meets her job description, but also features a different color scheme, helping her to appear different. Not to mention that her personality and backstory both sound super Irken-y and believable, even though she did have a run-in with Zim as a smeet (it works really well here, trust me!) And, while she dislikes the Tallests, it’s not for a reason that you would likely expect; she dislikes the leaders because they’re complete slobs, while she, herself, is a neat freak.
A really awesome character, and all credit goes to the user who submitted her: miffmaff!
My friend Invaderlivy has great ocs, This one is Olivia. you may have heard of her in the Powerful Olivia comic, she actually really hates that comic now, is redoing the Olivia story. Livy is the author, thotoh does the comic art. Its called The Red Wrath. Livy has also helped me fix my own character when i got tired of her old design.
Olivia is very nice, is neautral, is hated by many because the tallest used her as a weapon for thier plans. But even though shes hated, she puts others before herself, is very respectful to them.
I’ve seen this OC before, but I can’t say that I can say much about her with the information given. ^^; I like that she’s used by the Tallests; that’s not something that I see happening very much. There’s nothing wrong with her design from what I can see here (I’m ignoring the breasts, since it seems that the artists tends to draw Irkens with a more human-esque look and anatomy). Sorry that this isn’t very in depth, but I can’t really find much about her online, and I don’t have a lot to work with. :\ I checked the dA page, which is invaderlivy, but all I’m really finding is images without much more information about this character. But, overall, I can’t say I see anything wrong with her!~
Hi, I was wondering if you could review a new OC of mine? I saw you mentioning reviews earlier, and was wondering how to go about submitting an OC for critique?
If you send the OC in an ask off of anon, I’ll review it. c: Just be sure that you’re not on anon, as I’ll be unable to reply privately if you send the ask as an anon.
@traumlaterne and @myunicorneatshands here on tumblr have a whole bunch of really great OCs. My favorites are Ivo and Eris, but they've got some other good ones as well.
Ohhh, yeah, I’ve seen some of their work on deviantART before. c: I believe I already talked about Eris a while back, but lemme take a look at Ivo.
Here’s the two of them together, with Eris being the Vortian that I already talked about, and Ivo being the Irken. I can’t say that I can find much information on Ivo, so, unfortunately, I can’t talk a ton about his personality or backstory. :(
However, I will say that his design is simple and cute, and manages to look casual and comfy while still looking like something that an Irken would wear. Also, his eyes are gorgeous.
I don’t have much else to work with besides appearance, so that about wraps this up, but he is definitely pleasing to the eye!
(Art was taken from myunicorneatshands Tumblr, and all credit goes to them)
they sent me a mobile screenie (ignore the icon on the side there)
this is xene, xeneloid’s sona.
Thank you for taking the time to send one in!
She’s definitely a cutie. As I said when I answered your ask, I can’t say that I really think that a lot of...”guidelines,” I suppose is a good word for it, apply very much to sonas, as they’re supposed to tie in distinguishing features of a person, whether they be physical or mental/emotional.
But, either way in, Xene is really, really cute. I love her outfit, as it looks Irken-y but isn’t really occupation specific (allowing the owner to make her anything they’d like), and the blaster on her hand is super badass. Since I’m not sure what the owner looks like, I can’t say much about the antennae, given that they might be drawn this way to resemble the owner’s real hair, but they look pretty intimidating (in a good way).
All credit goes to xeneloid on deviantART!
What do you think of xeneloid's sona??
I can’t seem to find any images of the sona on dA, though I know I’ve seen it before…If you would be so kind as to send me one, I’d be happy to talk more about it!
Also, I’d just like to say that I think Irksonas sort of have their own set of rules, in that there really aren’t many. Since they’re supposed to represent a real person, I think people can more freely stretch the limits that Irkens or Vortians or etc. may pose otherwise. v.v
AAAAAH thank you so much for featuring Donthar, and for all the kind words!! And thanks to whoever submitted him, aaaaah I wanna hug whoever you are :'D <3
A user by the name of ZontarZon submitted him. :) And you’re very welcome! Thank you for making such a cool OC!
Even Kira can have a bunch of friends can she not?
I wanna make a thousand Screwhead ocs.
It's not often that we see Screwhead OCs. Really awesome!
Bright, Ming, and Zuro. Post MFAU: The Witch’s Plauge
Look at these awesome designs, especially the space-rific uniforms! They look like they're right out of the show!
Heavenbat’s vortian character, Donthar… he’s one of my favorites among Batty’s characters, so I figured he should get some praises. In the picture, Donthar is the little child vort following its uncle into a concentration camp/prison run by Irkens upon the conquest of their planet. Here’s a more recent picture of Donthar: http://fav.me/d7lvx5t
Copy-paste from Donthar’s ref:
“Name: Donthar Duraboki Species: Vortian Age: 20 Gender/Sex: Male Height: 4'9” (with horns. 4'2" without) Sexual Orientation: Straight Political Standing With The Empire: Former prisoner, currently a member of the Raiders History: Donthar was the result of a one-night stand; his mother was an extremely unreliable person, and unfit to be a mother, so pretty much as soon as he was born his Uncle Julian (his mother’s brother) took him in out of frustration at his sister and concern for Donthar’s wellbeing. Donthar was raised by Uncle Julain, living a relatively happy life until Vort was taken over by the Irkens. He and his Uncle were sent to a prison where they were forced to work on mechanics for the Empire. Eventually Donthar managed to escape with the help of a crowbar and sheer determination–he’s no fighter, but desperation made up for that. He fled, stealing a ship and piloting it as far away as he could, where he finally found a planet full of refugees from the Empire. They took him in and he became a mechanic for them, living in hiding. About a year or so later, another ship arrived at said planet, piloted by an Irken claiming to have been banished from the Empire. Her name was Zef. However, by this point the colony was so paranoid about Irkens that it believed her to be a spy or an Invader, so they imprisoned her. Donthar, who was slightly less anti-Irken than the others, was the only one who volunteered to feed her and stuff, and he ended up talking to her a lot, and ended up believing her story (mostly because of the sheer hatred in her voice whenever she talked about the Empire). So, weeks later, when another Empire ship arrived and an Irken named Teivol demanded that they give Zef to him (and that in return he’d leave the colony alone) Donthar was the only one to protest. The colony handed her over to Teivol, and he left. After a brief shouting match with the other colonists, Donthar finally got in his own ship and took off after Teivol. There was a confrontation, and in the end Donthar managed to get Zef in return for NOT shooting down Teivol’s ship. That was the start of Zef and Donthar’s friendship, which over time would turn into more of a sibling bond–Donthar knows all of Zef’s quirks and habits and how best to calm her down when she’s either raging or panicking, and vice versa. Together, they started the Raiders, and together they have been through hell and back. Personality: Rather laid-back, jovial, can be incredibly derpy at times. Stubborn. Takes a lot to get him angry, but once he does get angry he tends to silently fume for a long time unless something calms him down, and he has a nasty habit of holding grudges. Is also pretty lazy… and clumsy. Not Bella Swan clumsy, but actually legitimately clumsy. This is in part because of his goggles–they’re high-tech goggles that slow down the outside world slightly. This is because Donthar has epilepsy–there’s a certain frequency of flashing that will send him into seizures, and these goggles slow that down enough so that it doesn’t affect him. Without his goggles, he’s much more likely to get seizures–which is why he almost always wears them. The scar on his horn is from one such incident of his clumsiness–he tripped and hit his head and it split his horn XD The shackle on his leg is a leftover from the prison–he’s never been able to get it off, and he’s kind of stopped trying, since it’s become almost a part of who he is. The necklace was a gift from his Uncle. Likes: Watching TV, working on mechanics (he’s better at the larger-scale stuff–he really can’t do very good wiring), telling jokes and laughing, the Raiders |D Dislikes: the Empire, Teivol, racism, wearing shirts (they bother him lol) Phobias/fears: Darkness (somewhat as a result of his epilepsy–chances of having a seizure are heightened in darkness, even WITH his goggles), serpents Strengths: Strength (frequently lifts heavy machines/parts, he’s muscular), perseverance/stubbornness Weaknesses: Speed, intelligence, clumsiness, epilepsy Other facts: He has a bit of a twangy accent, and tends to drop the “g” at the end of words, especially those ending in “-ing” also tends to replace “you/your” with “ya/yer” etc And he also has a bit of an overbite, which contributes to his derpy looks |D"
Oh, my goodness, he’s quite the cutie. *o* Though I’m iffy on the whole “naturally-born” thing (but that’s just a headcanon, so I respect what other people believe as long as it’s done well, which it is here), the story is really, really cool! While being taken prisoner isn’t really a new thing, being taken prisoner by the actual canon enemy race from the show is something that I really don’t see a lot of. Also, being put in a concentration camp-type thing seems like something that the Irkens would definitely do, so thumbs up to that.
Normally, forbidden friendship/romance is stuck on to an OC to make them seem more edgy or give them more of a tragic backstory, but here, it works very well. It seems less forced and more believable, as if it were something that actually could have happened given Donthar’s story.
The relationship between Donthar and his uncle also seems super cute, and Donthar’s personality in general seems really nice. I have a thing for clumsy characters.
Nice job, Heavenbat!
