hello everyone!! I'm sorry to say this but I will be on hiatus for a few months. Mid terms are right around the corner and it's safe to say that I've barely even touched my textbooks.

I apologise for cutting my rin series short, but don't worry, it will be continued after I come back

Dear Rin,

I'm sorry to say this but..

I don’t think I can visit you anytime soon. 

I had to quit my job last week, my conditions are getting worse. My hands are constantly cold and I feel lightheaded all the time. I think I’ll need to drop out of school soon. 

Dad still hasn’t come back. It’s been a month. I was hopeful at first, but now I don't think he’s ever going to come back.

I’m worried for my mom, I think she’s losing it. She’s been drinking a lot lately, and she’s barely home. I have to handle all the chores on my own. Normally I would never complain, but my body can barely hold up, and it's getting harder and harder to breathe. I’m scared, Rin. It feels like I’m constantly suffocating, and I barely have energy left in my body…

Dear Rin, 

  How are you doing? Better than me, I hope.

  I had a check-up yesterday—the doctor said that my heart disease is getting worse, and I was diagnosed with heart failure. He told me that I might have to be hospitalized soon. I don’t want to be hospitalized. If I do, then I won’t be able to go to school or go to work. And that means I won’t be able to see you sooner.

  It was after dinner that day, when my parents had another argument. I was scared. I know my parents argue a lot, but it was never this bad. Dad stormed out of the house, and he still hasn’t come back. Mom was fuming, she knocked all the plates on the floor. 

  She told me one sentence afterwards, “It’s all because of you.” I was shocked but I knew what she meant. We’re poor because of me—dad left because of me. It’s all because of me, isn’t it?

  I know she probably didn’t mean it but it still hurts, you know? 

  Did you have any problems with your family too? If so, don’t be afraid to tell me. It’s the least I could do after rambling so much about myself. Please tell me if I caused you any problems, I would never forgive myself if I had hurt my best friend unintentionally. 

  Sorry for sending you so many letters. I assume you’re very busy right now, that’s why you haven’t answered any of them, right? I’m sure you wouldn’t leave me too… right?

Dear Rin,

 Are you doing well? I’m so happy today! I got a raise in the convenience store I work in! My boss said that I worked the hardest out of all her part-timers, so she gave me a raise. (It might also be because she knows about my illness but we can ignore that) So now I earn 1300 yen per hour which is a maximum of 52000 yen in a week!! 

  We also had an English test today. As you probably know already, English is not my best subject, but I still got an 83%—that’s the highest I’ve ever gotten in English! I’ve been studying super hard! I remembered the methods you used to use when studying—so I tried them too—and it worked like a charm! Thanks, Rin! Even though we are separated, you still help me in so many ways! Bachira also tried to help me with my studying, but he’s not the brightest himself (No offence to him of course, he’s like a brother to me!) 

  Sorry for the short letter but I really need to go back to studying right now, i have a maths test in 2 days!

Dear Rin,

  How are you feeling? I feel sad today. My parents are having another argument right now. I think it’s about me again, but I can’t hear properly. They’ve been having more arguments lately—and my dad is basically never home. What if they divorce? I wish you were here, Rin. You would know what to do.

   I’ve been getting more tired lately—Bachira says it’s because I’ve been working so much part-time, and because of my heart disease. I know I should probably take care of myself better, but I just can’t help it. I miss you so much—and I want to see you as soon as possible, so please don’t get mad at me for that.

  I hate my illness. I hate it. I hate it so much. If only I was never diagnosed with it, then maybe my parents wouldn’t have to work so many shifts day and night, and we wouldn’t have had to move away. Maybe we would still be hanging out, and I wouldn’t have lost my memories. 

  But on the bright side, I did remember another thing about you. I was walking home after my shift, and I heard some hoos and hoots from above me. I looked up and saw a cute little owl sitting on top of the power lines. And I was like, hmm… owls are really familiar for some reason—and then it suddenly clicked! Owls are your favourite animals! Your birthday is on the 9th of September right? I’ll make sure to get you something owl related. You better treasure it!

ur rin series is soo cute, though im so curious if rin is even reading the reader's letters !! im just gonna ssume this happened before blue lock (ni think cuz of bachira??) or blue lock has never happened in the first place... i really like unique writing styles like ur series rn, its like different bc its written in a letter layout thing, and not like basic, bc ive lwk been getting bored of the basic writing styles recently

now onto the questions, yes this does happen before blue lock, if you notice the dates on each letter, it's like getting closer to when blue lock started (which is like november 2018 according to the blue lock twitter acc) i'm actually planning to make it overlap with blue lock. And currently, no, rin is not reading the reader's letters (this will become more obvious as the reader seends more letters😗😗)Or instead, he never received them.

But don't worry, as the series goes on there will be more plot points revealed so stay tuned 😼😼

Late Night Thoughts (ft. Sae Itoshi)

"Would you still love me if I got transformed into a fish?" Sae's eyes already twitching. It's the fourth questions of the night, and he need his beauty sleep if he wants to be fully focused on football tomorrow.

"Yes." Simple, and he hope you go back to sleep.

"But what if I became a sunfish? I've heard that sunfish can't feel pain even though another creatures nibble on their flesh." Great, now you're talking about this sunfish that he thought it was a little dumb during his trip to aquarium during high school— thanks to the tour guide and moving pictures.

"You're cute even if you became a sunfish."

"That's not the point! I mean, if I can't feel pain and always love to bask under the sun and oh, just follow where the water brings me—" He's about to fall asleep, right after you babbling about how big sunfish is, along with the 300 millions of eggs it produced.

You said it would ensure the sunfish generation safe— not extinct!

He jolted awake when you put your cold fingers inside his short pants.

"You're hot there, Sae." You snuggled to him, and he wonder why he's still there and let all of this happen.

"Babe, for the love of God, go to sleep. Get your iced cold, numbing fingers out from my pants—" Sae tug his blanket that slipping away, while you're pouting and kick your blanket away. Two separate blankets are the best choices. Yet, your words are not.

"You mean your balls—"

"Sleep, or I'll make you stay up all night long. Choose wisely, since you've experienced both." Slowly, you pull away and Sae gets to close his eyes once again.

He's about to fall asleep, when he feel your voice right before he starts dreaming.

"I think Rin should get a matchy bang like you! Should I give him a call?"

And Sae never moves so fast on the bed just to knock you to sleep. Error. He never let you close your eyes for more than 5 seconds that night.

Dear Rin,

How are you doing?? Is your school going well? I have so many things to tell you today! 

  First off, I got myself a part time job at a local convenience store! They pay 1200 yen per hour, which is pretty good if I say so myself—that's a solid 48000yen per week if I work for 40 hours! I’ve been working super hard so maybe I’ll get a raise soon.

  So far, I have around 5200 yen saved up for coming to visit you! I’m gonna need a total of around 32000 yen for the train ride there and back, and I’ll bring an extra 10000 yen—which makes it a grand total of 42000 yen that I have to save up. Which—I think—will take around 4 months? I hid my saved up money under a loose floorboard under my bed. Let's hope my parents don’t find it, cus I know they will kill me if they find out I’m trying to visit you.

  The next thing I wanna tell you is about my new school!! Namikaze High is surprisingly close to my house, it’s only a 10 minute walk to get there. And the uniform is so cute! I really like it! What’s your uniform like? And the campus is also so much bigger than before! I’m planning to study even harder than before to make up for you not being here. 

  Remember when I told you I felt lonely here because there was no one to accompany me? Well, not anymore! 

  The other day, I saw this boy playing football alone where I usually ate lunch. He reminded me of you—cus he’s also great at football and has no friends (no offence to that :P) I wanted to go talk to him but he looked like he was older than us so I was too scared to approach him. 

  But today, I decided to go up to him, and he was surprisingly nice! His name is Bachira Meguru—which means happy bee! I wonder if my name has a special meaning like that? I asked him why he was playing football alone, and he told me that no one wants to play with him cus they think he’s ‘weird’. Remember when people called you weird too? I don’t think either of you are weird, because that’s just what makes you—well… you!

  If you’re scared that I’ll become best friends with Bachira and forget about you, don’t worry! I told him all about you (sorry if you minded that) and how you are my first and bestest friend! And he told me about his monster, which I think is pretty cool. I can’t wait for you two to meet each other—I think you would get along well with him.

Dear Rin,

  How are you doing?I’m feeling especially happy today, I don’t think anything can change my mood right now! 

  The cherry blossoms here in Chiba are in full bloom already. They are so pretty! How about the ones in Kanazawa? I know that cherry blossoms in Kanazawa bloom a little later than in Chiba, hehehe—that means I beat you to seeing them! This has got to be the first thing that I’ve beaten you in, right? I remember how you were so competitive growing up (and you probably still are), and you would always win against me in everything! I’ve always wondered how you did that. Please teach me your ways when we see each other again!

  It’s also the last day of school today, which means I can finally get out of that dumpster of a school! And it also means I can almost start working part time! I know I’ve said this a lot—but I really can’t wait to see you! 

  I really want to play football with you again. I know you’ve probably improved a lot and is wayyyyy out of my league by the time I visit you, but I still want to play with you again! Can you teach me when I come back? I promise to work hard to meet your standards!

Dear Rin,

  How have you been? Spring is here! Are you excited? The school year is also almost over! I can’t wait to get out of that stupid school and see the cherry blossoms in bloom! I wonder if cherry blossoms in Chiba are the same as in Kanazawa? Guess we’ll wait and see! 

  I also got my high school entrance exam results back a few days ago. The results were uhh… far from good, and my parents scolded me for my poor results and grounded me. I still got into this high school called Namikaze high!  What high school did you get into? With your grades, I bet you got into a super good one! I wish I was still in kanazawa with you, I remember the little study sessions we had before exams, they really boosted my results—thanks for that! 

  Oh yeah, remember how I said I was going to ask my parents about you? They got really mad when I mentioned your name. What did you do to make them dislike you so much? I don’t think you did anything—at least not anything that I remember. Does your family hate me too? I sure hope they don’t. I’m glad that my parents weren’t home when I mailed the last letter, or else they might have taken it away! I’ll make sure to be careful when sneaking this letter into the post box too.

  I really miss you, Rin. My parents say that you were a bad influence and it would be better to just forget you, but I don’t think so. I don’t think I would be friends with a bad person.

  I can’t wait until the end of the school year so that I can finally get a part time job! I know my parents have said a lot of terrible things about you, but they are still my parents—and I want to help them out in any way I can! Mhm! Totally just want to get a part time job to help my parents and totally not because I want to save up money to visit you! Totally!

  Alright, you caught me. BUTTTT, I will be giving most of the money to my parents and keeping only a small portion for me to save up, so I think that’s fair enough. I can’t wait until we finally reunite!

Dear Rin, 

  How are you? It’s been quite some time since we’ve talked to each other, hasn’t it? I’m so so so so so sorry for not telling you before I left, you must be very mad right? It’s ok, I don’t blame you, I would be mad too if my best friend left without a notice. I know this is a selfish request, but could you please forgive me? Pretty please?

  I should probably tell you why I left so suddenly. You know I’ve been diagnosed with PA-IVS right? Well, I may or may not have gotten a heart attack that night half a year ago, and it was kinda severe? Idk I don't remember it clearly. I just remember pain spreading through my body before blacking out, and the next thing I knew—I was laying on a hospital bed with an oxygen mask over my face and a doctor telling me they just completed surgery on my heart! And trust me, heart attacks are NOT fun. 0/10 experience, do not recommend.

  After all that, my parents barely had enough money for my medical bills, so we had to sell our house and move all the way to Chiba to rent a small apartment that barely fits all three of us. 

  But the main reason I haven’t sent you a letter earlier is because I (not surprisingly) lost my memories during the surgery. As you probably know already, I never had the best memory, and the surgery just made it even worse! The doctor said that since blood was cut off from my brain—my brain tissues were damaged, causing memory loss. 

  But don’t worry! I’ve already recovered most of the memories I lost and my body’s good as new! I think? Although there are still some parts that I don’t remember, I'm trying my best!

  Anyways, the other day, I was cleaning out my room so that it would have more space for the new school year, and I found this small box that was filled with scraps and trinkets and other things I used to collect. I was about to throw it away, until I saw this little clip with a sun on it, and then suddenly—bits of my memories finally clicked together! It was the clip that you gifted to me on my 10th birthday, back when I still lived in Kanagawa! 

  Although, I don’t know why my parents never told me about you or showed me anything related to you, I wonder why? Oh well, I’ll just ask when I have time

  Alright, enough about me, how are YOU doing??? I still don’t remember much about you, but I remember you would always call people lukewarm. Seriously, it’s so lame. Oh and do you still like football as you did back then? I bet you got even better than in my memories! I remember when I kept annoying you as you played, and you would make me be the goalkeeper for you while you practiced, and you would insult me all the time. I can’t wait to see you play again!

  I really hope we can see each other again soon! It's been super lonely here in Chiba, and my parents are super busy with work so they can’t keep me company. Maybe I could come over soon?
