Tips to Help Parents at Story Time with Energetic Kids
By now if you’re a parent, you do or should realize how important reading to your on a daily basis is. It’s never to soon to start, and can be a relaxing time to be close with your child. But once kids start walking and becoming more energetic, it gets harder and more frustrating to keep them in one place for a long enough time to read.
There definitely are times (believe it or not) that your child will tire out and go into cuddle on your lap mode. You need to take advantage of this time and follow these tips to bring out the book.

Tips Pediatricians Wish Parents Knew
by Jodi Dillon on October 26, 2011
I know it’s hard to research every little detail about what you should know for raising your kids, especially with a little one running around. So I did a little research and here are what the top pediatricians had to say about the top parenting tips.
Meals Should be Simple
Make sure that your kids have healthy foods on the table, give them a couple of choices, and try not to worry about much about what they do or don’t eat. Restricting diets too much on overweight children and forcing underweight children to eat more usually ends up having the opposite effect.

How to Boost Your Child's Memory
I love doing things that I can watch my child learn from and help them as they learn. Advice from Doctors is always a plus and Parents.com know a lot of experts, so when they talk I listen. These tips here I've used and they work great to help my son memorize chores, words, phrases, people and location of things.

Tips To Help Improve your Toddlers Memory
by Jodi Dillon on November 7, 2011
It seems like just yesterday I could sit my son in one spot and he wouldn’t move, well, because he couldn’t. Now that he is 15 months, he can walk, and he realizes he can do things on his own, I have a whole new chapter to learn. But lately it seems that, even though I feel we have a general understand of what he is not to do, he will still do it and even says “not!”
Well according to an article on Parents.com, Caroline DiBattisto, M.D., children can be impulsive, and frankly their memory hasn’t fully developed yet. So even though I told my son yesterday Not to feed the dog, he may not remember that yesterday he was told it was wrong. Kids recall some things, but forget others, and the majority of the time it’s random. Remember children are learning everything, from language, to their surroundings, to what is right and wrong. It’s like being given a final exam in calculus on the first day of school. Children need to build these cognitive skills with reinforcement by using developmentally stimulating activities. Here are a few examples.

Inspire Your Children to Do Chores
I can say that this is one of the harder things I've had to deal with. Keeping my kids interested in doing chores. But these ideas are important, because keeping it interesting feeds into your kids natural desire to be an individual and learn things, so mixing it up and being creative is important.

Tips to Inspire Your Kids to do Chores
by Jodi Dillon on November 16, 2011
And the time has finally come, when you must teach your kids about chores. Chores are important for children to understand the important of being responsible and also feed their natural drives to be productive and creative; they want to be contributors of the household. This can be a daunting task to get your kids to listen, but here are some ways to help get their chores done.
Make it Enjoyable Turn each chore into something fun that they would enjoy. Assign characters to difference chores, for example pretending to be a robot while doing the laundry, or a favorite animal or cartoon character while in the kitchen. Singing is always a fail safe way to get children interested in what they’re doing, sing LOUD and have a singing contest while the children are cleaning up clothes!

Tips to Avoid Illness Before and During Pregnancy
by Jodi Dillon on October 24, 2011
Getting sick during pregnancy is easier than when you’re not pregnant. As I’m sure most mom’s know you are protecting for 2 now, so your immune system is stretched a little thin. There are some things that pregnant moms should stay away from to prevent getting sick during pregnancy..
Always wash your hands with soap and hot water. Especially if you’ve used the bathroom, handled raw meat, eggs, unwashed veggies, played with animals, been around sick people, changed diapers or anything else that would strike you as dirty. I always carried around a travel hand sanitizer with me.
