Little lava cat commission

I am so glad I did this little experiments.

For years I have just stuck with blue as my underpainting, knowing in theory why it was a good thing to do, but I don't think I really appreciate what it did. I definitely didn't reckon on how much of a difference it would make with each colour of underpainting side by side!

Brown makes things warmer. And I think pink makes things brighter!

Pink was the most challenging to paint on, but I'm so happy with the result.

Blue makes things cooler.

I want to do more! And more different colours!

What shall I do next?

Verso! I love him

My friend looked at him and said "he looks like a character you'd make" which isn't /wrong/, but I feel Perceived.

Bright pink for him. The colour of underpainting that made me want to try this series in the first place. Turns out, painting on hot pink is difficult, in a good way. I really had to think about what colours to use and it was a really fun challenge.

Also the in-between stages of this one were mildly terrifying
