I wish everything was quieter and softer and less often.Â
Suddenly you’re 21 and you’re screaming along in the car to all the songs you listened to when you were sad in middle school and everything is different but everything is good.

My life at this very moment
(via timeless-illusions)
Topanga, if I had to dream up the perfect woman, she wouldn't even come close to you.
if you were an adolescent male in the 90s, you wanted to marry Topanga.
This morning around 3am or so, I woke up to my entire body vibrating uncontrollably. It felt like every cell of my body was undergoing a radical encounter. I don't know how long it lasted, and what I saw, I've yet to even begin to process, but I was quite literally wrecked by waves of Love last night. Whoa.
if God gives me my deepest dreams, hopes, and desires He is good. and if He doesn't.....He is still good. He is enough. and I will find my satisfaction in Him alone.
BASSM or BSSM
There is still something in my heart that burns for Redding. Most times I feel like its a selfish response to my difficulty entering an encounter here at BASSM, but then, there are moments like these when it seems to be the most authentic expression of my heart. It is unimaginable to me to say goodbye, or even see you later, to the community I have built here, but I may end up asking Holy Spirit if I can go again...
Be still my heart and know.
Things people with Social Anxiety do
•go to the bathroom to escape
•feel very uncomfortable without a phone or some other crutch
•dwell on a small awkward moment for much longer than necessary
•never go to any social event without a person that makes you feel comfortable
•follow said person way too much
•worry about the person beginning to find you obnoxious
•faking an illness to get out of a social event
•Dont buy something necessary because the cashier is intimidating.Â
You're made from love, to be love, to spread love. Love is always louder, no matter what. Even if hate has a bullhorn, love is LOUDER.
The godfather of design, Dieter Rams and the undisputed current king of design, Sir Jony Ive, the Sr. Vice President of Apple Inc. talk about the principles of design and simplicity.
This clip is taken from the documentary Objectified. Its one of my favorites, and these two men are some of my heroes. Check it out on Netflix!
I'm not sure why I have to process all this crap at one time, but this is a lot, God. I'm so tired, and sad, and frustrated. Just....yeah.
Simplicity is not the absence of clutter — it’s getting to a place of almost naive obviousness, where what you need to do seems clear and inevitable.

This is a big deal.
I am not defined by my sexual abuse.
It was not my fault.
The shame from it is not mine to carry. I’m sure I’ll unpack the amazingness of this more later, and you can expect a "life update" text post about it then, but right now this alone holds epic revelation for me.
Life Update: Songwriting, Parents, Fear
Sooo, I did my song, and I got through it. I haven't heard it yet, but I don't think my voice cracked or shook that much. Really, I can't remember - I started to hear fear and anxiety in my ear when I started playing and to drown them out, I completely disconnected from everything around me, turning my affections toward Him.
On a definite positive note, PEOPLE LIKED MY LYRICS! The ones that anxiety said yesterday were trash, all my peers agreed were relatable and non-cliche'd! That was huge for me.
My mom had no comment when I played them for her. I told her it would be hard for me when she wanted to hear them (she's always been my biggest, and harshest critic). When she brushed that confession off, I felt ignored and as if my feelings weren't valued. It hurt, but I chose to play anyway. She didn't look at me when I played, and when I finished she didn't even acknowledge what I did. That might have hurt more. It felt like I offered her a piece of myself that I was so protective of, and she chose to completely reject it. Perhaps this is a good place to create a boundary? From now on, maybe my response will be something along the lines of, "I'm really trying to grow my confidence in myself, and when I play for you, it doesn't help, so I'd rather not."
On the plus side, I'm playing a soaking room on Thursday. My set-list is prepared, and surprisingly, I'm nowhere near as nervous as I usually am. There's a peace I feel about it. In the past couple of months, I have learned that to say no to fear, is to say yes to love, and vice versa. This is huge for me.
SN: (This is in no way false humility) I know this blog post is terribly written. Its past 12am, and I'm not thinking like a prose writer. I just really had to get this out.
I'm pretty frustrated because all four of the songs I wrote over the past two weeks that I thought were amazing now sound terrible to me, and I don't know if this is anxiety's lying yet again or if they are really bad and it's an honest, retrospective self critique. I have to sing these in front of people tomorrow and it would help if I knew they weren't trash.
Good Morning! :)
