So despite the absolute mess that is the USAmerican housing market, I and my partner system and our friends have managed to secure a rental home. This is a HUGE FUCKING DEAL --- one of our primary motives for doing this is that our friends have been living with an actual fucking predator in unsanitary conditions that one of their families placed them in On Purpose.
Another, less dire, factor: over the span of time we're looking at, renting a home is cheaper and more practical than a lot of the apartments here given our...idk, collective situation (see above), and we're thrilled. This will be way more doable for all of us than either trying to cover rent in a shared apartment or any 1-2 of us trying to live independently in separate apartments. Obviously the upfront costs have been fucking fiendish. We all expected this. Things will be rough for a couple months, which is fine and worth it. It will probably even be cheaper than our current situation once things chill the fuck out!
That we managed to secure a place is technically super awesome news and we're going to make it work kicking and screaming if we have to, but it'd be cool to worry a bit less while we prepare and sort everything out. (It'd also be cool to have like, household appliances like a washer, and enough time to find jobs/second jobs that aren't going to Fire Us For Having a Seizure, etc. etc. etc. But hey, first things first.
Like the fucking fees and the prorated rent that we were really kind of hoping would get charged with the first full month, you know, in June. No such luck.)
Basically: we could really use the help if anyone is comfortable helping. We're talking, like. We're all disabled. One of us can't work due to her disabilities. 1 of us is working full-time (+) in a like...notoriously hazardous, stressful field (construction). Most of us are trans in fucking Florida. I'm trans, T1diabetic, epileptic, and work in education in ffffucking Florida, so you can probably guess how secure THAT feels rn. (Don't get me started!!!!!!!!)
We're all just trying to live ffs (cannot stress this enough: live, trans and disabled, in Florida) and get our friends the fuck out of evil living conditions
I won't go into details that aren't mine to share, but hopefully you get the picture.
We have to cough up about 1850 on the 7th. That's all together, so we will Probably Manage [?]. But we could REALLY use some help with that.
