Ever since the lockgate controversy there has been a bit of drama and apparently it is now weird for adults to ship characters who are minors which means that anyone over 18 isn’t allowed to ship members of the party anymore

May I introduce a few alternatives for byler, lumax, elmax and milkvan shippers to ship instead of those pairings involving teenagers.

1.byler

Since shipping Mike and Will isn’t allowed anymore may I propose a new alternative it’s still a byler ship but now the cooler version for adults. Ted x Lonnie.

They went to highschool together they’re both suffering from internalised homophobia they’re both questionable parents and they are both adults. it’s practically the same thing as byler but less predatory now. a new revolutionary gay ship in such a main stream show which obviously carries the same weight as its younger version in terms of lgbtq representation

2.Elmax

Because Elmax is a ship between two minors it’s another pairing that adult fans have to stop shipping but don’t worry I have a new alternative may I introduce Elmax for adults.

Minus the telekinesis and the interesting connection it’s practically the same ship they’re both girls Joyce has brown hair with bangs and Susan has red hair. they’re also both single mothers so we don’t have to worry about El and Max leaving their respective boyfriends for each other. did I mention that they are both adults?

3.Lumax

Lumax is arguably one of the best written relationships in the show Lucas and Max have a strong friendship and romance and watching them progress from puppy love to something serious has been a lovely watch but unfortunately Lucas and Max are both minors so if you’re a person over 18 who has them as your favourite pairing I’m afraid you can’t ship them anymore which is where I come in with lumax for adults.

Practically the same thing amirite!!! I know they’ve never had any onscreen interactions but unknown chemistry is way better than shipping minors. and besides Susan deserves someone who will treat her right and Charles knows his way to a woman’s heart.

4.Milkvan

Milkvan is the obviously the heart of the show (and without the heart we all fall apart which is obviously what El told Will to say) they have such a healthy relationship and it is so strong that Mike doesn’t even have to tell El he loves her for her to know that he cares about his superhero. but unfortunately even non conformist straight ships between the two white leads are problematic not because of the fact that they’ve been together since El was fresh out of the lab and still discovering herself but because El and Mike are both minors…

Brenner x Ted have been built up since season 1 ever since Ted found Brenner in the woods looking for Eleven and gave him a home, shelter and saw him for him not as a scientist or the monster all of the test subjects had made him out to be. even if Lonnie has more chemistry with Ted than Ted does with Brenner Brented is obviously endgame even if Ted can’t tell Brenner he loves him he still cares for him and that’s all that matters. I can’t wait for them to get married in a local village with three waterfalls and conform to society’s expectations because that’s obviously what the true message of stranger things is.

I hope that you are all happy with my suggestions if you have any other ships you need the adult alternative to feel free to recommend them to me so I can make a part 2!!!!

This is gonna be a wild post but it’s about lockgate again.

It is empowering if Will’s locket actually represents Will’s sexual preferences because he has spent so long hating himself and finding himself disgusting for it, and for him to finally take pride in who he is and want what he wants unapologetically is beautiful.

He’s been a victim for so long, and his story has a lot of sexual abuse innuendos, so to see him feel sex positive is really good character development.

His whole arc in season 4 was internalized homophobia, and he expressed feeling like a mistake. It’s beautiful to see him be proud and open to who he is.
