The beauty pageant was organised by the Kenyan Albinism Society which celebrates the existence of such people and shows how beautiful they are. When a woman gives birth to an albino, some people say that it’s a curse. 

“Growing up was hard for me (…) nobody wanted to be with me … You have to work on your self-esteem and have a thick skin,” one contestant said.

These people just have to be recognised by the society. It doesn’t matter whether they are in Africa or America. 

Beauty is beyond the skin.
